  • you can tell they had a lot of respect and I would say love for each other, the smiles look sincere well two legends USA must be proud of this two great man one whithe and one black both representing the best of each culture without hate or racism

  • back in the day, the whole family watched the j.c. show, OUTSTANDING!

  • johnny and ray in the same room..................FUCKING MIND EXPLOSION. WOW!

  • these are two of my childhood idols

  • I can watch Johnny's genuine joy at 2:35 as he catches onto what Ray is doing over and over again.

  • June Carter was a hilarious woman.

  • I wish I could experience what it feels like to have sounds coming up and and out of my body like ray charles. I mean imagine what it must feel like to sing like Ray!

  • Not that it matters I am a 19 yr old east indian female and I love the whole concept. June Carter wrote Ring of Fire - I wonder if this was a love song to Johnny Cash. I love the original version by Johnny Cash but let me tell you Ray Charles' version OMG add so much flavor to an already excellent peice. Plus I can see the admiration & respect the two gentlemen had for each other. In a word WOW!!

  • I'm from NY and I'd love to try some country love!!!

  • Good Song!!!

  • Wow nice post man.

I am enjoying this so much, this must be the 100th time a watched this vid and I can't get enough of it.

  • Music sucks so hard these days, and this was recorded before I was born lol.

  • Frank Sinatra was quoted as saying Ray Charles was the only true genius in show business. After listening to what he did with this song I believe it. There will never be another voice or talent like this. R.I.P. Ray!

  • :O Oh. My. Goodness. what an AMAZING video! There is a LOT of respect between those two, and even more from me!!

I can listen to this for hours on end!!!

Rest In Peace Gentlemen, and Thankyou for the immortal music <3

  • Oh Charles!!! great voice!

  • Ray covers a lot of great people with great songs and quite often I think he does it much better.

  • Fallen but great forever more.

  • Thank you for sharing a little piece of the pass. You right, we got to keep this memories alive. It was nice to see this two giant together. Thank you man!

  • I was down at the Ryman the other night watching John Fogerty and I mentioned to my brother, " You know Derek and the Dominos have played in this room?" Then we started to list off all the folks who have come through there and it got to be a bit over-whelming. When we got to Hank Sr. I had to sit down. Such an amazing place. And when I see stuff like Ray doing it up here it only inspires me more. I'm gonna play there one day.

  • Nobody and I mean NOBODY could bend a note like Ray Charles. SOUL MUSIC BEGINS AND ENDS WITH RAY. PERIOD!!!

  • wow... couldnt of been said any better

  • @brianofbluemethod

    No, it began much earlier.

  • ray was an amazing person thats for damn sure he will live on until the end of humanity.

  • @brandolishes I recogn some of his stuff should be beamed out into deep space, much like they do with Bach. So let's hope he lives on till the end of the universe - the longest running music career, second only to the great J.S. Bach by a few hundred years.

  • I reckon this is one of the best moments in music. The monumental turning point is evident at 2.38. wow

  • this is gold - thank you for posting!! i really enjoyed this

  • well ray charles was one of the best musicians! i have so much respect! of course for johnny cash, too! ;)

    just brilliant

  • walk the line that ray does is so bluesy and souful brillant gospel like piano wooo

  • i like Johnny's version more, Johnny is the king <3 Thank you for uploading this :)

  • Thanx for this amazing clip.

  • I remember this performance when it was first broadcast nearly 40 years ago and have been raving about it ever since to anyone who would listen.

    Thank you.
