  • i bet she's wild in the sack lmfao.. but in all seriousness what a fabulous artist

  • She is the best!!! Can't wait for The Knife album, it's really really hard to think of how album will sound like. <3

  • I can speak Swedish I haven't a clue what she is saying with the crow mask, thank god for subtitles.

  • @guzotak Sorry, wrong person ;)

  • She has a very strange speaking voice...Is it real?

  • @AnthropomorphicHorse haha, no, she manipulates it, even in her songs

  • @AnthropomorphicHorse It's just 'distortion' on the microphone...to make her voice sound that way.

  • When she is done making music (which is a long way off I hope) I hope she does an interview without the voice thing, or the makeup.

  • I could listen to Karin's digitally androgynous voice all day long...

  • seeing fever ray live...is something i cant even describe...its been a few years and i cant wait to see her again!

  • this inspires me

  • She is the Fifth Element

  • @mimiaa3 hahhaha yeah she definitely is !!!! =]

  • is this her normal voice or is she using some device to alter it?

  • Press the CC button left of the resolutionbutton to see subtitles in english.

  • Umm... art is something you are, you are your creation, thats not something you can take away, therefore it isnt ruin to combine the individual and art together, they fit as a glove, therefore it cannot be disturbed by unfold hands.

  • i have no idea what shes saying but I'm now her puppet.

  • @TheJoanBugg I'm her puppet too lol

  • @JoseMB13 How can you not be?? She's absolutely hypnotic.

  • @TheJoanBugg Fever Ray, your wish is my command. Lol

  • Why is her voice always distorted/lowered in the interview bits?

  • I love and adore Karin Dreijer Andersson. Found Fever Ray and The Knife 2 yrs ago, and it has totally turned my musicworld around...

  • I WOULD TOALLY DO HEEER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xD

  • For the non-swedish: she talks a lot about fear and about keeping her privacy.

  • @fragilejooh Thanks! I just got hooked on Her. Great artist,

  • If Karin Dreijer didn't exist I don't know who I'd be today

  • Holy crap does she really sound like that in real life?!

  • @Fr0stedButtsx3 of course not

  • @Fr0stedButtsx3 Her and her brother distort their voices. They don't want their persona to be attached to their music. :3

  • Did they alter their voices? It sounded strange. I love everything Fever Ray does. She's just brilliant.

  • @theskyelimit and noise gate ; )

  • she makes henna tatooing look a million times more sexier. (drools)

  • If you press the thing that says "CC" it's closed captions which means you can read what is being said in English.

  • any chance for english subtitles?

  • For @ohwhatdafucksleft and those asking for subtitles, click on the 'CC' button below the progress bar of the view to enable subtitles. Enjoy. Vote up for others.

  • @dheerajsp thx, buddy :-)

  • i feel like this video is being filmed in another world. not another country.

  • oh, I d love to understand this :-(

  • and Lady Gaga is shocking.....

  • What the hell is wrong with her voice.

  • My god she is so amazing I am just in awe every time I listen to her or see her ..The opening song If I Had a Heart makes me want to become some sort of tribal queen

  • Subtitles pleeeeeeaaase!

  • It's so funny ... after being a Fever Ray fan for awhile, and reading people's comments like "her voice is so strange" it reminds me that it once sounded a bit unusual to me as well. Now I don't think twice about it ... it's just Fever.

  • 1. It's on norwegian television, actually

    2. She says music is not supposed to be about what one has for breakfast.....Go eat your cereal, Rebecca Black.

  • Subtitles please. Im dying to know what shes saying. I would love to immerse myself in art and music like she has. What an amazing and free life she must have.

  • what the fuck is up with her voice?

  • I find myself wondering what she would be like in bed.

  • don't speak swedish. still watched the whole thing.

  • @mickcrimp Ehh, try hitting the CC button. :)

  • She says that the expression is more direct if you use the visual. So dressing up is essential. She never leaves the visual impression to chance, not even for interviews. She uses themes, often fear to create the audio. (One fear she has came with motherhood and not being able to be there for the baby.) She does not want her private person do gain focus as it has nothing to do with the music and would distract from the music.

  • @sofiew1 but by making the visual parts so strong you make it less like a music concert when you see her live, its more like a performance. i dont complain about it, both times i saw her live it was amazing and i was left there speechless

  • me asusta pero me gusta!

  • esto es noruego???

  • @carox7 es sueco, pero la cancion "what else is there" es de Röyksopp, y ellos son de Noruega :)

  • Is this interview real, that does look like her but she does very few interviews, any insight on this?

  • @a1m05tg0n3 it`s real NRK is like Norways BBC, i doubt they would make a fake interveiw.

  • I'm curious, am I the only one that can hear something strange about hear speaking voice? Maybe something I don't know about? either way she's beyond words, love her.

  • Comment removed

  • @echaverelly Her voice is distorted i think. i heard her on the radio once and it sounded like a guy. just another tool used to draw focus away from her and onto the music.

  • Har Karin ett barn?!

  • I can't understand a damn thing she is saying but she still fascinates me. Just an incredible woman

  • i give up with that. see my channel for subtitles.

  • 4:

    NRK (cont):

And [Norwegian] possible subjects in most of what Karin does is mysterious, a dark gloomy landscape that goes with both the music and the visual aspect.

    KDA:

i think it's exciting to investigate things you don't know so much about. like going into areas that feel difficult, where there's a little resistance, to look into subjects that aren't too easy to work with. like what you're afraid of, for example. what someone thinks is dangerous.

  • NRK:

The Knife also made a name for themselves with masks through their videos. Mysterious "The Knife" has achieved big succes, taking home six prizes at the Swedish Grammisgalan for their last album, Silent Shout, which received acclaim in the international music press as well. Despite her success in The Knife, most here in Norway only know her as the the voice in the Röyksopp hit What Else Is There? But that isn't KDA in that video either.

  • 2:

    NRK:

Even though Fever Ray is a new project, dressing up is nothing new. For ten years, Olof and KDA have played together in the electronic duo The Knife, which is a something and weird [Norwegian]. Not the least very weird, but [Norwegian].

    KDA:

i've worked in music for so long and have friends who have also, and when you do, you know that…your work as a musician and you as a private person don't need to have so much to do with one another.

  • okay, so someone can fill in the gaps. i couldn't hear everything and I don't know how to do subtitles, but..Part I

    KDA:

And now [??] theater, if not acting or playing a role or wearing a costume or a mask...

    NRK:

Costumes and masks are central to KDA, alias Fever Ray. Whether it's in her videos, on stage or in meetings with the press, the visual is never left to chance. When we met KDA in Stockholm she had just taken pictures for her first solo release. She is Fever Ray.

  • translation, please?

  • TRANSLATION! :(

  • greattt another "artist". What a wierd ass bitch.

  • @Daze18 Great, another asshole with an opinion. Just what the world needs.

  • @Daze18 I'm sorry, how many records have you sold?

  • ka faen er det med hennes stem ?

  • @etilauqa dude dont even say that name in 338782 km radius of this amazing girl

  • I don't guys it seems like Bjork left a void for avant garde strange and weird and well the knife fills out the roll quite well. shes a good artist and deserve accolades cause shes got her act down pact but really is any other musician doing less with their desire to express themselves.

the knife can get gimmicky at times.

  • what's wrong with her voice?

  • this is horrible

  • subtitles please, for fuck's sake

  • i wish youtube would have a Subtitle option.

    to Translate.

So others like me- self would know wtf Ray and others are Saying.

  • Why don't they translate this!??!?!?!?

  • Is Karin and her brother Sami?

  • pleeeaaaseee, someone answer me! please!!!!

is the knife ever going to do a new album besides that opera stuff????

  • @transitoreumatico Yes...after fever ray is done touring, they are planning on recording another album.

  • @transitoreumatico not with that attitude

  • @transitoreumatico

yes I think so!!! Karin is working on new stuff for sure... some music for another opera, and a new album, instead olof is working with other artists, and they said that in the future will come another work together!!! ... so.. have faith!! I'm also waiting!!

  • @transitoreumatico its all on the fever ray website the details are all there

  • @sw0rdiez shes already married and she has 2 kids

  • What is that furry thing she's carrying at the 0:35 - 0:39 mark ?

  • @xxFeverRayxx From the Stranger than kindness-video, i think. Check the video out at their web page.

  • @Absinthus Yes I saw the video I know but what do u call that thing she's wearing ? I mean like how do you make it ? :L

  • her voice sounds totally different than the way she sings :o

  • @andyvonhallow

    It's purposely distorted.

  • @andyvonhalloits it has an effect

  • It would be awesome if someone makes english subtitles....

  • @bossanoga0123 There are English subtitles. Click "cc" at the bottom of the video to get the subtitles.

  • @VenusAsABoyFilms Thank you so much for it! Cheers

  • @bossanoga0123 click the [cc]

  • ÅH! All respekt i världen till Karin och hennes kumpaners musik genom åren. Riktigt mysig intervju.

  • I love that make up. Those lines are amazing!

  • Dont get a f,,,,,,g word of what she says to the interviewer but love her sight nonetheless!

  • oh, I don't understand what she's saying ::(

  • She is a real artist, not someone trying hard to be different like all the rest, she is a quintessential master of expression.. I breathe new air when i listen to fever ray in amongst all the garbage music out there I feel like I have a purpose again when I hear Karin's unfathomable music. She deserves to be placed above "music" and not given awards and all that other petty crap. She should be venerated and respected as a true pioneer and master of her craft.

  • @LOLDISNEYLAND Couldn't have put it any better.

  • @LOLDISNEYLAND the rest don't try to be different they all strive to be the same. She is the only one trying to be different; just like a handful of others. The only common theme is they all make bad music.

  • @LOLDISNEYLAND yea your not biased ...

  • her voice is digitized because she believes her voice to be androgynous, much like her fever ray music. She didn't want to present herself as feminine, at least her voice. watch other interviews for proof.

  • Her voice is cool, but it's got a filter on it. Maybe it's a contractual thing she has for interviews.

  • i like how she chooses to focus more on the music than looks.

  • Is there an english transcript?

  • To be honest, her speaking voice is just... creepily amazing!

  • @Governmentalist Are you joking? You think that voice is not being digitized? Are you insane? That's CLEARLY manipulated! LOL. She speaks like a human being, um, because...wait for it...wait for it.....SHE IS ONE.

  • @BreKali I just said creepily amazing, I didn't actually mean it THAT way.

  • @Governmentalist yeah, I get the positive connotation, but you're making reference to her "speaking voice" and that isn't her speaking voice. You wanna hear her speaking voice, when some idiot isn't running it through his computer on a sound program, click on some of the older interviews with her and her brother as The Knife.

  • @BreKali Hey, thanks! I'm still new to Fever Ray. Forgive me!

  • Damnit, why couldn't this have english subtitles?!

  • someone translate please!!!!

  • Oh my god, that woman is a WITCH!!!

  • @TheBizarreMonster would be unsatisfied if not

  • English Subtitles please!

  • Comment removed

  • the way she's talking in the interview is her actual voice i think. but in other interviews, not so much. she's amazing. and epic. and just beautiful.

  • @blt1212121 No, it seems that it's not her real voice. You can hear it here though youtube.com/watch?v=jRmmSd1bh14

  • she frightens me and that draws me to her..

how does she get her voice to sound so mulitleveled when she speaks?

    cant be natural?

  • Comment removed

  • i love Fever Ray. Karin is an incredible artist.

  • subtitles plz?

  • how come there voices sound like that?

  • @blackReader19 yeah i wonder too

  • @blackReader19 Synthesizer.

  • I,love how she smiles at 3:34/35.

There's a person under all this art.

Abd there's art all over this person.

  • thanks for the translation

wow, her interviews make me appreciate her music even more

    karin is genius

when she performs she does inspire fear, but it's fear that arises because you've never heard anything like her music before rather than fear of something scary. her songs live are just so awe-inspiring

  • thanks so much for translations.

  • tried my best re-posting Tazsprays efforts there :) 'Here Before' is an amazing song that needs to be heard by everyone. Love. Chaos.

  • Narrator: Even if Fever Ray is a new project, the disguise part isn´t something new, for 10 yers Karin and her brother Olaf played toghether in the electronica band The Knife that developed a uniq way to face the audience. To say the least their way to give intervjuves.

    tazspray 6 months ago 4

  • Karin: The expression gets better if you dress the part, it gets more real and direct, if you seese thoose opertunities.

  • Karin. Cont... Fear is an emotion I wrok with alot. Offcourse I fear waking up without an heart, what would happend if my emotions would all the sudden be turned off? Obviously I sing and there for I have a heart, but things like that and questions about thoose kinds of things are awaken in me now that I´m a mother. What happend if I´m not there one day, if I die.

  • Karin: I feel it´s exciting to explore things that I don´t know much about, to venture to areas that is hard to grasp, subjects that isn´t easy to work with. Things I fear, that feal dangerous and frightens me.

  • Narrator: Fear is an assosiation you can get from the physical appearans from Fever Ray, something in the shape of a shaman, mythical and out of reach. But this isn´t something she fears will distance herself from the audiance, on the contrary she feels it make the experiance stronger.

  • Karin: I feel what I´m doing is more like theatre, when I´m on stage I have a scene, I have access to lights and sound. It´s a show there is someone on stage and there is an audience, there for it´s important to use thoose possibilities.

Narrator: The Music are and will be the most important and be availible for media is not Karin does very often, specially not tv and never without a disguise.

  • Karin: Music can be something fantastic, wonderful and beatiful. Hower it gets ugly and watered down if it gets mixed up with someones private life. It might be that persons colour of the skin or hair, how they spend there free time, or some other thing. I feel that they are two sperate things, I very much like people to listen to my music, but what I had for breakfast is not interesting.

  • id really like to know what shes saying.... can anyone translate a few bits?

  • i have no idea what you're saying, but i fucking love you karin! next language i'm learning is swedish

  • I love you guys

  • her voice is always modified in interviews, she likes people to only hear her singing voice. that's also why her and Olaf always wear masks. They just want people to see and hear the music, not who they are.
