IM agreeing that wow is overrun by kids, but after seeing a few vids of ffxi, i still dont see whats so great, DAoC tho, it has a better playstyle (havnt played ffxi but from the look on the vids, not hating) :P

Thank god Square Enix are not dropping player difficulty levels in there future FF releases just to try and slice into the WOW market.
FF keep it hard, keep it real and keep setting the benchmarks for MMOS and we don't care if half the world is playing WOW cause only the Elite players will be playing FFXI or FFXIV when its released.
Yes I played both MMOS and WOW seriously lets me down and for everyone that's played FFXI and gone to WOW like WOW for one reason only.
@Skineo Its true. I quit ffxi in 2005 and played wow for 6 months after that. I hated wow because it was just way too easy. Compared to FFXI. I came back to xi 6 months ago =).
@Skineo Why exactly are the fights in Final Fantasy harder than in WoW? Both mechanics are based on Cooldowns and Positioning. In both games you can use skills at the wrong time or use senseless skills in a particular situation and mess up at least one round of cooldowns or your manamanagement. The only real difference i can see is, that the monsters in Final Fantasy got Stats by themselves - more than just hitpoints, armor and avoidance - is this the reason why Final Fantasy XI is harder?
WOW is a second rate FFXI. FFXI is for adult games, WOW for kiddies. Final Fantasy franchise has over 20years of adventure gaming experience and that Japanese attention to detail which cant be matched.
Gamer generation Y are lazy gamers they focus on games which are easy with bright colors. FFXI was not easy! The epic feel you get FFXI cannot be match by WOW. You make it to the end of FFXI you completed it you knew you just completed a epic gaming journey.
I really wanted to like this game, it had some neat ideas, but everything you do in this game is so painfully drawn out. I'm all for challenge but this game is more interested in making sure you play a long, long time than it is in actually making sure the player has any fun.
this game fuckin sucks trust me i went from lvl 1 to 65 and thats 15 lvls from max, so i can honestly say this game sucks ass, you'll be fighting these fuckin pinck pelican things from lvl 50 to max its sooo stupid! i want my 120 hours back!

I'm a good puller, I have both THF and BRD at 75, rarely pull links, and if I do, they are delt with, and I've never wiped a party, and I pull fast as hell, so, 25k + an hour > Slow "safe" pulls.
Yeah I was thinking of getting this game, but I dunno, kinda odd to get back into MMO's when the pvm looks so bland. That's all I'm really into because pvp demands too much of a regular player when going up against hardcore players. But... you have some sparks here and there, some slashing, and some standing around(though I might have to actually play it to get the feel of it). I've had this game since it came out in 06....i stopped playing it for like 3 years and i finally want to get back on. the problem is that i don't know what to do as soon as i get on...all i know is fight and fight.... i really need help understanding this game more...if anyone can help please let me know
Actually the game was released in 2002 not 2006, and I have been playing it since 2004. There are lots you can do besides just fighting, like crafting in one of the many guilds, fishing and mining. Chocobo race betting and racing your own chocobo, monster pit fighting in Aht Urghan, quests and missions just to name a few.
I don't know where you are but in the U.S. FFXI came out in fall of 02 on the PC and in Spring of 03 on the PS2. I've been playing it off & on since it first released in the U.S. on PC. I played a mithra on the Lakshmi server who was SMN75 & THF75 among other jobs. I currently have a female Elvaan on the Hades server who has the jobs RNG75, NIN75, COR75, MNK75, BLM75 and SMN75(yeah I leveled smn twice lol) I LOVE FFXI and am eagerly awaiting FFXIV to say the very least.
i want this, does anyone still play it though? im thinking about getting the version with all of the expansion packs on it for 360 cuz it dropped to 14.99$.

WHM or WAR, for the sole reason - WHM teleport spells, and WAR because of it being such a good sub for everything but it does depend on what you want your main to be If you start playing do diablos =] the /t Lorlen for a linkshell :P
honestly if u dont have 3-5 hours a day, dont bother. u'll be frustrated time and time again. though i do have to say SE has implemented the new level sync system which allows u to have a xp party with people higher than u. A 75 becomes a lvl 30 for example. This greatly reduces the time waited for a xp party-sometimes it took like 2 hours for a party. Still, playing about 1-2 hours a day might get you to 75 but really 70 percent of the game is all about endgame and that requires the most time.
so yes it is a soul consuming game. the storyline is pretty interesting, but even getting people to help u pass missions is like bleh. Though i do wanna say that ffxi offers you alot more satisfaction when you complete stuff as compared to WoW. Its like wow finally all my hard work paid off.
lots of people still play, on my server theres 2000+ people at all times...unless the servers permanently crash i dont think this game will ever be completely abandoned.
As a Previous FFXI Vet (75pld/war35) and a once and a while player, I would say FFXI is nothing like it use to be. The golden era was a stretch of time From american release(for me) to about 3 or 4 years after. I remember playing all the time and doing a /sea all (command that searchs for all online players) and it saying nothing less then 3000 players. Now, there is about 1500-2000 on a good day. Most people who play know what they are doing so they plan around their time.
Ah man after i saw that Samurai do Tachi: Gekko it totally made me miss playing that game. Although in that area i was busting out Tachi: Kasha but i'm not sure what your skill chain was there. Great game imo wish i had time to keep playing =(
Strangely, I have to agree with you to the point of FFVII not being a complete game. It really didn't make much sense to me when I first played it why you were able to obtain Aerith / Aeris' final weapon and Great Gospel, when she was already dead. The game originally was meant to have multiple endings; one of which is where Aerith / Aeris actually lives. Bah, who knows. We "might" see a completed version on the ps3? ...Yeah right.
are you insane?? VIII was the best by far, it had one of the best junctioning systems and for it's time, the graphics and gameplay were phenominal! X's storyline was good but I just didn't like the idea of being told where to go, I enjoy 8 because of its freedom of exploration. I've never played this game but on first impressions it looks crap lol!
The magic system was the most painstaking thing ever. You had to spend a lot of time drawing spells, which you were essentially prohibited to ever actually cast because you'd need them to beef up your stats. I'm not saying it's a bad game, but as far as FF games go, I was left with something to desire. As for freedom of exploration, I didn't really find it any more free than other games in the series.
and compared to other rpgs ff is the best around for over 2 decades so i really dont get what you mean plus all ff stories has romance and the great thing with ffx was that you chose which youre main char would be compared to other ff so you really suck in explaining youre thoughts
I highly disagree with being able to "choose" the main character of FFX, considering the storyline kicks most of them to the curb to focus around Tidus and Yuna. You could always pick which characters you wanted in your party most often in Final Fantasy, but we weren't talking about that, we were discussing storyline. If you want a detailed analysis from me, I'll be happy to type one up, as YouTube comments are restrictive on the amount you can put into one.
in my opinion none of all the ff series had a bad story in fact if something is to be mentioned for the ff seriues its the amazing stories they all had now there are people who just liked one of the ff series well they should keep theyre mouth shut in that case. btw ffx had one of the best storylines in all ff series cause it simply was perfect in every way you see it
Once again, I'm comparing it to other games in the series. That doesn't mean I'm saying it's a bad story, but on par with other Final Fantasies it doesn't stack up in my honest opinion. If whiney male leads and lifeless female protagonists are your type of thing, then by all means, love it. Who am I to say what you like?

WHM or WAR, for the sole reason - WHM teleport spells, and WAR because of it being such a good sub for everything but it does depend on what you want your main to be If you start playing do diablos =] the /t Lorlen for a linkshell :P

honestly if u dont have 3-5 hours a day, dont bother. u'll be frustrated time and time again. though i do have to say SE has implemented the new level sync system which allows u to have a xp party with people higher than u. A 75 becomes a lvl 30 for example. This greatly reduces the time waited for a xp party-sometimes it took like 2 hours for a party. Still, playing about 1-2 hours a day might get you to 75 but really 70 percent of the game is all about endgame and that requires the most time.

so yes it is a soul consuming game. the storyline is pretty interesting, but even getting people to help u pass missions is like bleh. Though i do wanna say that ffxi offers you alot more satisfaction when you complete stuff as compared to WoW. Its like wow finally all my hard work paid off.

it's PS2, Windows & Xbox360 only. But you should have no troubles running it with Boot Camp. Thats how I do it.

As a Previous FFXI Vet (75pld/war35) and a once and a while player, I would say FFXI is nothing like it use to be. The golden era was a stretch of time From american release(for me) to about 3 or 4 years after. I remember playing all the time and doing a /sea all (command that searchs for all online players) and it saying nothing less then 3000 players. Now, there is about 1500-2000 on a good day. Most people who play know what they are doing so they plan around their time.

Ah man after i saw that Samurai do Tachi: Gekko it totally made me miss playing that game. Although in that area i was busting out Tachi: Kasha but i'm not sure what your skill chain was there. Great game imo wish i had time to keep playing =(

Looking back after a long time without playing, this game is very slow-paced but has AWESOME video/sound effects.
I think that's why I enjoyed it, because you could actually FEEL your spells regardless of how slow they were.

Strangely, I have to agree with you to the point of FFVII not being a complete game. It really didn't make much sense to me when I first played it why you were able to obtain Aerith / Aeris' final weapon and Great Gospel, when she was already dead. The game originally was meant to have multiple endings; one of which is where Aerith / Aeris actually lives. Bah, who knows. We "might" see a completed version on the ps3? ...Yeah right.

are you insane?? VIII was the best by far, it had one of the best junctioning systems and for it's time, the graphics and gameplay were phenominal! X's storyline was good but I just didn't like the idea of being told where to go, I enjoy 8 because of its freedom of exploration. I've never played this game but on first impressions it looks crap lol!

The magic system was the most painstaking thing ever. You had to spend a lot of time drawing spells, which you were essentially prohibited to ever actually cast because you'd need them to beef up your stats. I'm not saying it's a bad game, but as far as FF games go, I was left with something to desire. As for freedom of exploration, I didn't really find it any more free than other games in the series.

I highly disagree with being able to "choose" the main character of FFX, considering the storyline kicks most of them to the curb to focus around Tidus and Yuna. You could always pick which characters you wanted in your party most often in Final Fantasy, but we weren't talking about that, we were discussing storyline. If you want a detailed analysis from me, I'll be happy to type one up, as YouTube comments are restrictive on the amount you can put into one.

in my opinion none of all the ff series had a bad story in fact if something is to be mentioned for the ff seriues its the amazing stories they all had now there are people who just liked one of the ff series well they should keep theyre mouth shut in that case. btw ffx had one of the best storylines in all ff series cause it simply was perfect in every way you see it

Once again, I'm comparing it to other games in the series. That doesn't mean I'm saying it's a bad story, but on par with other Final Fantasies it doesn't stack up in my honest opinion. If whiney male leads and lifeless female protagonists are your type of thing, then by all means, love it. Who am I to say what you like?
