Yes, that is an option, but I decided to add another lipo battery for the lights. It gives me more flying time at night. Thanks for watching cameraman.
very nice the next how to video you should make is how to get a plan out of a 60 foot tree . i almost had it the i looked awat no its permentily air born :)
Great job! Very cool. Something to think about though, it looks like those lights were meant for 2 AA batteries. That's 6 volts and you're running a 2cell Li-Po at 8.4 volts full charge. That's 2 volt more! They'll be a lot brighter but last a lot shorter that way. Maybe put a resistor in there to knock the volts down? Wouldn't want your plane going dark! By the way, what paint did you use?
There are two strands of lights connected together each requiring 3 volts so in parallel that would be 6 volts. The lipo I used was a 7.4 lipo so it did have just a little more juice than I needed, but proved to be fun at night. The next light kit will be bigger so I wont have to worry about too many volts then. Thanks for the comment Skyranger93.
Well Eric, I think I can smell burning foam wing clear over here in Iowa. That is wild. Do you run an extension cord to it while it is flying? Ha ha. Great job, but from experience there is a looooot of Drag on the bottom of that wing for sure. 5 Stars.
Well it works fine and I looped the plane and did everything else you could do with it during the initial day time flying check before I flew it at night. Thanks for the comment Dave.
I was hoping I could find the exact same lights again because they worked out very well for RC plane lights. Thanks for watching and the comment Startazz.

how much amps for lights?
TheSliekaStyle 8 months ago
so you need 2 batteries for the plane (1 for led light kit and another one for the motor)?
bensontam 1 year ago
you could also use a 4 aa holder with a jst connector

You might want to coat the underside of the wings with opaque tape to make it more friendly to the eyes and hide the wires
