I was one of the tourists coming off of the cruise ship. Jamaica was a nice place... at least the touristy places. However, my wife went there a while back and told me about how there were armed guards around the hotels to protect the tourists because it was dangerous. Maybe it was just in the area she went to.

I will say that when I went there, the tour guide did clear up a lot of the Jamaican stereotypes, but she did say that a lot of people do say "Yeah mon".

I wasn't born in Jamaica, but my family is from Jamaica and I agree with everything that they are saying. However, in Jamaica, even though they treat tourist like gold, the prices of most things are higher if your a tourist. At least that's what my uncle told me that's why when we go out, he does all the talking so we can get the good price. Kind of funny, but true.
