best fielders i have seen AUS Ponting, Mark Waugh, Hayden, Taylor (great slippers), Clarke, Harvey RSA Rhodes, DeVilliers, Gibbs NZL Vincent, Astle, Harris, (generally these 3 teams have set the fielding standards ) ENG Collingwood WI Bravo, Chanderpaul SL Chandana, IND Yuvraj, Kaif, Azharuddin, Jadeja PAK fail to remember any ZIM there were definitely a few but dont remember best of them w/o doubt Rhodes. He can be counted as fielding allrounder. And i heard he wanted to be a hockeyplayer!

I agree - he raised the bar for fielding, paved the way if you will. He currently trains the South Afrian team for fielding, and it shows. Even if they do suck at batting and even worse at bowling, their fielding cannot be faulted. Just for the record, I am South African. Devilliers is showing a lot of promise as well. Since Gibbs has trouble hitting a ball prob seeing double or something)  he has not played on the national team much lately.

Rhodes, Ponting and Collingwood (in no specific order) are in a class of their own, there are a plethora of great fielders in modern cricket among alot of teams, but those 3 are just unbelieveable.

how could you miss the 'non catch' he made of Sachin Tendulkar in that aborted tri series final in SA in the late 90s. It was simply mind blowing. From a television viewers POV the guy was almost at the left edge of the screen and by the time he landed after taking the diving catch, his torso was almost entirely out of the screens right hand side. Although the replays later showed that he had grounded the ball (though Sachin was given out by the umpire) it was the best damn bit of fielding ever.
