  • Still got it! Lip sync is o.k. too.

  • This is his best song and it is great!

  • Twenty-two years after the original, and he sounds as good as ever! Thanks for the post.

  • Ca c'est d'la chanson, bon chanteur, quoiqu'il chante en playback ici mais bon... Aujourd'hui la musique est bien pauvre...

  • Il est un peu vieux mais charmant encore.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • GOOD PAUL! ROCK ON!

  • nose 3:34

  • Mothers fave

  • BLOODY HELL! HE LOOKS BRILLIANT FOR HIS AGE...GOOD ON YA PAUL.

  • damn those fucking people clapping along WTF this has to europe or some old folks home

  • who is that at 3:10? :-)

  • great singers don't need to lip sing. and Paul Young is a great singer. and like a few he still got it even with age.

  • Welcome in Latvia , Ventspils in 23rd of July at his concert together with simphonic orchestra!

  • He's still got it! Saw him in concert and he was gorgeous!

  • WOW, I thought he was dead since 2000! But it is another guy with the same name from Mike and the mechanics.

  • He was my neighbour in NW London for years.

  • I don,t care what anyone says.This is a CLASSIC.

  • 20 years ,unchange voice ! I really like the bass line

  • que pena que esta viejo.

  • Otima música.

  • The bass just makes this video. And Paul's vocals of course.

  • i love this song

  • the most wonderfull song from classics

  • I love it!

  • hehehe just noticed 3:11 guy in drag :)

  • One of my all time favorite songs of the '80s......brings back such great memories. There will never be music like the '80s music ever again. Best time ever to have been 18-25. OMG! I just love it, love it, love it! Can we please go back to the '80s.....pleeeeeeaaaaaaasseeeeee!!!!

  • He is 55 so his voice will undoubtedly be weaker.

Look at the live aid video from 1985 v=jWHQtGIF658 he was maybe 24 years old here, its live and you can hear how good of a singer he was.

Its his own voice, who cares if its lip syncs. Your telling me nobody else lip syncs these days?

  • it's okay for me that these legends are lip syncing as long as it's their own voice and no auto tuning involved... actually it's very easy to overlook these kind of incidents considering they've already done their part to entertain us and give us wonderful music... i'd still pay to see them in concert just to see them in person is more than enough for me... i envy anyone who are old enough to enjoy music back in the 50's to 80's

  • Lip syncing fuck me it's all a joke Pino Palladino plays fretless bass on this track and some monkey is pretending to play the whole performance is shocking!!

  • ja jaj si el envejese porque yo no??

  • This is not the same Paul Young as the one from Mike and the Mechanics.

  • I never heard of him until about two years ago on VH-1 Classic, I can't this song out of my head.....A hopeless romantic I guess.

  • a note for note perfect pino bassline!

  • If that is really how he sounds now....that's great. He still has it.

  • 2005? I thought he died in 2000 of a heart attack. Otherwise he might still be singing with Mike and the Mechanics too.

  • @hittingnote75 He never sung with them it was someone else. The bloke who was the singer in Sad Cafe in the late 70's.

  • Wow he's lip synching. what happened?

  • What country was this clip made in ?

  • Paul Forever Young

  • he's lip syncing cause he probably can't sing live now that he's old and his voice is ancient history

  • @TurkiyeCumhurbaskani I bet he can still sing better than you could ever talk

  • @badshans no he can't he's got too much arthritis pain, 80s over and he's not 20 anymore

  • @TurkiyeCumhurbaskani It's sad that talented people get old :(

  • @badshans lol , he is 60 years old tho

  • If yer gonna play, or even mime a Pino bassline, get a cat who looks like he can handle it, not some emo dude who has no idea.

  • He's not so young now..lol

  • I bet he only has half that range now... Lips syncing to a 25 year old plus recording is oh so lame :(

  • He lip syncs so what. He can do no wrong for me as he's a major part of my past in terms of his music.

  • Paul young is such an awesome singer! Still love ths song!

  • Germans dont notice it tho that he is lip synching

  • @rodrigochinelinho Then maybe he should change his name to Paul 'OLD"

  • Don't care about his lip syncing. So long as he's still around.

  • Really? Like we'll think he isn't lip-syncing? Someone his age wouldn't sound the same as he would 30 years ago.

  • c est vraiment con de vieillir helas

  • This man was one of the most underappreciated acts in the 80's in the US and was more talented than most of the whole lot. Good on him.

  • @kathyuk28

He , as so many got forgotten in this Duran Duran vs Wham dilema

  • He is lipsynching because he cant sing anymore, I saw him live today and I must say that iy was very desent of the crowd only to boo him when he was allready gone...

  • his nostrils are huge...

  • is he Madonna?

  • The girls have aged better than Paul!

  • Even older he looks and sounds fantastic!!!

  • Getting very battered looking is our Paul

  • When is Paul making a come back????

  • love u paul. i only konw ur most famous songs but by god they are good. your voice is like velvet. like your cooking on masterchef too. am checking out your other songs and like most of those too. xx

  • Shit crowd btw for clapping, its just so dated

  • amazing how stuppid some people are for not knowing that this is playback.

  • you can hear it, its exact the same as the radio version, so dumb if you dont know

  • @173rdAbn6970 You're thinking of Paul Young from Mike and the Mechanics - two different Paul Youngs. Google it :)

  • The lead singer of "Mike and the Mechanics" name is Paul Young. He has passed away.

  • Hes such a tower..he will never look an old man being that tall...plus he got an amazing voice !!

  • it's playback

  • Paul Young is not dead! He is 54 year old now!

  • He has got to be lip syncing even the background girls sound like this did in the 80s

  • @173rdAbn6970 LOL! You are mixing up two different people! This guy in the video above Was NOT in Sad Cafe or Mike and the Mechanics.

This guy was a SOLO singer from the 80s

  • @173rdAbn6970 The "singer" Paul Young has not died. What are you smoking?

  • he is so old now

  • @173rdAbn6970 I think Paul would be pretty distraught to hear you say that?!?

  • @173rdAbn6970 ... The "Paul Young" that you heard of that passed away, was part of the pop group; "Mike & The Mechanics." The about Paul Young is very, very much alive and is in his late 50's. Just thought I would let you know. Gail in RI

  • wow, he still sounds exactly the same... :)

  • I think it's not his choice to lip sync, probably the dumb producers of the television show.

    Love this song btw :D

  • This is the other Paul Young. The guy you are thinking about was in Sad Cafe. He passed away in 2000, not this guy. I can't believe he is lip synching. Why would you do that to a song you sang twenty years earlier. Silly!

  • @48state Bands are always doing songs they did 20-30-40 years earlier!!

  • @173rdAbn6970 You are thinking of the Paul Young of Mike and the Mechanics. Different Paul

  • Bloody audience clapping on every beat - wtf.

  • @SwappingIsSaving lol annoying huh lol

  • No chance it's live singing. His voice virtually hasn't changed...??

  • @173rdAbn6970 Paul Young is alive and well. He hasn't died.

  • The crowd is clapping completely out of time!

  • Wikipedia lists him as being still alive...

  • there is a another man named Paul Young who sang with Mike and the Mechanics. Thats the one that died

  • Such a bummer he never makes it back over to the USA for some tours. Perhaps I'll just have to go to him. I miss you Paul, "Come Back and Stay."

  • Who cares if it's lip sync. He still looks mmm mmm good!!! And it's a great song.

Look for a new realease in 2010! In the studio in April 2010 acc. to his web site.

Whoo hooo! Can't wait. "Come back and stay for good this time, Paul!"

  • @173rdAbn6970 His website begs to differ!

  • It's German TV show. All singers are emulating there.

  • haha I love that bassist ''actor''

what happened to the real bassist?

  • great voice

  • yeah, there is no doubt he's not singing this. i have the original CD and this is the original recorded version. I don't fault him though, as you age, sometimes your voice goes too.. he's just trying to do his thing.. always liked this guys

  • Well....it's very apparent he's MIMING the words in this, his "LIVE" version of the song. Too bad. It's (still) a good song, but this little trick of his is a bit tacky. Oh well......let's move on, shall we?!

    ~D.B.

  • @DragoBalboa ithink paul young had a medical problem with his throat and it destroyed his voice that explains the lipsync!!!

  • Why is he lip synching ?

  • @Starwelicious His voice was ruined by vocal chord surgery shortly after his rise to fame. Sucks!

  • @Starwelicious

because he's old and he can't sing it anymore :D

  • @4lifeSophie Unfortunately :(

  • @Starwelicious

unfortunately thats what some networks ask for

  • @Starwelicious He could barely hit those notes 25 years ago, it would have been an embarassment all around if he tried singing live. Not to dis the guy, it's just the way it is. You want to hear a real rock singer with soul? Paul Rogers - Bad Company.

  • @URKillingme100 Only 2 awesome live performers, one dead the other alive, Freedie Murcury and Matt Bellamy. No one come's close to either, live.

  • @Starwelicious his voice isn't the same... have you seen how short his career was ? You can't sign like that for 30 + years, not even 10 years... sadly !

  • @Starwelicious he is lip synching because the song is on playback, nobody there is playing anything nor singing. Maybe he's voice is gone, maybe they didn't work in the song with real drums instead of electronic generated drums that were used back in the 80s...for a lot of reasons. Which makes this live show a very bad performance

  • @Starwelicious Maybe yours do too when go get older ...If you do !!!

  • fretted bass sounds amazingly like a fretless LOL!!!!

  • @yellofury haha or a REALLY good chorus pedal! And extreme attention to detail in Pino Pallidinos playing!

  • he's lip syncing

  • @psychofish4444 I'm disappointed to see him lip syncing. I was looking fwd to seeing him give it his best

  • Paul is due to perform on cruise ship From Sweden to Finnland.

  • He looks damn good for his age! Wow! Love this guys voice!

  • yea, i was gonna say he seems to have taken care of himself all of this time.....

  • Met this Paul Young @ Tower Records in Washington DC in the 1980s. Very nice guy, charming and down to earth. And hot!

  • DIFFERENT PAUL YOUNG:Paul Young (17 June 1947 15 July 2000) was a singer and percussionist who worked with several successful bands. He initially came to prominence as the lead singer of chart band Sad Café, and later enjoyed further chart success sharing lead vocal duties with Paul Carrack in Mike + The Mechanics.

  • I didn't know he was still around in 2005 (performing).

  • Could that have been Pino Palladino on bass originally?

By the way, who really gives a fuck if he lip-syncs? It's great to see either way.

  • Yes,it was His Majesty Pino ...one of his best blowing line bass...

  • Man, I would've preferred that he wasn't lip synching..

  • LOL...I was with Paul few years ago...so he can`t be dead :P

  • where did you hear that the paul young is dead?

  • i want to see his original singers back with him

  • wow i can't believe he's lip synching. epic fail!

  • Yeah, but I think on most TV shows it's safer and easier for the artists to sync. (Except for Ashlee Simpson, of course!)

  • That's a different Paul Young. This Paul Young is still with us. The other Paul Young was in Sad Cafe.

  • ...but he lip syncs so well!

  • come back and sing for real this time stupid lip sync

  • has noone here seen paul of late his in another band called los pacamions and trust me he can still sing i have seen him play live with the pacs a number of times and he has not lost his voice

  • Too bad he's lip synching, eh?

  • The Fabulous Wealthy Tarts in the video just great KIM AND MAZ forever

  • lip syncing

  • sad but voice f*cked

  • Sadly pauls voice is shot now. but you cant blame him for doing this. what eles can an 80's legend do. go work in a carwash? i would be happy to part with a few quid to see him even if he wasn't singing live. Cheers Paul

  • why is he singing to the record?

  • playback crap

  • I still love this so much it's got a haunting sound to it and a lot of beautiful memories for me from the 80's.Paul still looks and sounds great! Thanks so much for this post! XX

  • of course hes miming the guitar isnt even plugged in but hes still a great singer.

  • not to be mean or anything but i looks likes hes lip sinking.

  • Only listened to the first 50 seconds so far, but if you queue up the original album and press play, you'll hear it is exactly the same.

Cant see the point in miming. People know and it reduces your credibility as an artist.

  • Still a great little tune.

  • playback playback and playback XD but good song !!

  • didn't lose the voice after all these years!

  • oh my god. this is playback. everything is like in the video

  • Miming, Thats not good cause i know he is.

  • playback

  • Great voice. He should still be releasing songs. He is too talented to stay quiet. Come back please Paul !!

  • He still sounds FANTASTIC!!!

  • Not really...... They're all playing to a track, it's all fake. The bassist is playing fingering the slap parts and playing a fretted bass guitar when PAINFULLY obvious unfretted bass figures are being played. The whole song is the same as the studio track itself. He definitely doesn't sound that perfect after almost 30 years.

  • LOL I used to work at Ross and they always played this song in the radio..I heard it so many times I eventually got it stuck in my head and now its one of my faves..Awesome song!

  • Totally a great song! So heart felt and trippy sounding especially with the soprano on the bridge part of the song. First time I heard that song it gave me goosebumps! But no doubt, Mr. Young was there for show, not to so much perform, but he does know his songs well. It sounded like they remastered this cut as it was played over speakers during this show. However who in the hell was the weird "lady" in pink that had a body like Miss Doubtfire and a face like Beatlejuice with glasses on?! Ew.

  • Yes great song paul, played it all the time when i got my first Music Recorder...

hehe thats Luise Kuschinski (Hans Werner Olm)

Stand Up Comedian. He plays a nasty woman...

  • Even if he's lip-synching, he STILL sang it in the first place. Go Paul!

  • warum müssen piefke eigentlich bei jedem song mitklatschen. unverständlich !

  • wieso müssen nicht piefke sich immer darüber aufregen das piefke immer klatschen? fragt ein österreicher...?

  • He's totally lip synching, band's not even plugged in. Love the song, but damn... that's just sad. I was hoping for a live version.

  • Did Herb write the book of love?

  • Young got Old!!!

  • Yes, 'ryansleis': Young got old.

If you do things right, you will, too.

I hated hearing that ageist shite when I was 21. Now I'm a decade or two older, and it's even more stupid.

  • Comment removed

  • You're too serious get laid sometime this video was posted to entertain not my fault if you got some geriatric issues!!!

  • The lip synch thing is not good I'm afraid. At his age, he should still be able to pull this off - I mean drop it down and sing it in a different key if you have to. A bit sad.

  • Ha can't sing like back in the old days... He has had a lot of problem with his throath for the last 25 years.

  • I hate when singers lip sync. Dissapointing.

  • dont think hes lipsynching.he is a truly genuine man and dont think he would do that.

  • Total lip sync- sorry to say.

I was looking forward to hearing it live.

By the way - that part in the begining- where they did a close up on t guitar- that was really suppose to be a bass like in the orginal. LOL!

  • Still very handsome and his voice still breath-taking ! Just like 30 years ago.

    Love His performance even more.

  • paul young is the 80's!great song wow
