  • the opera part reminds me of godspeed you! black emperor

  • This song, togheter with "Animals" and a few other, is perfect in the play "Hamlet" by William Shakespeare. It was used in the Set 2008 o the Royal Dramatic Theater of Stockholm.

  • *0*

  • Love the way the snarling dog comes in when sierra is hitting that last long note. lol. One of my favorite songs from them! <3

  • Interesting new style by Bianca - what a contrast when Stella kicks in her soprano act - we may not like every twist and turn of Coco Rosie but they never stop being interesting

  • sierra is her name, not stella

  • That's right - Stella is my sister-in-law - wonder what I was thinking!

  • lol

  • Sukidayo Cocorosie's et Aishiteru JAPAN!

  • I love the picture of the snarling dog haha

  • i love this song!

  • sounds like SKA

  • 网络太缓慢,没有看懂.

  • It's such an unimportant question, but...is that opera section sung live or sampled from a different singer?

  • It seems likely it's one of the sisters, because one of them trained in opera.

  • Seems only fair that I plug the writing of Warren Ellis here, seeing as he reminded me of this wonderful act after I'd forgotten to look it up.

  • ah her voice! It's so good!

  • Everyone wants to go to Jamaica

Queens in drag will surely fake you

Take you home, and then they'll rape you

But you like it, so say 'thank you'

    best part ever

  • Amazing song. It has a feeling I can't really get, but it's really awesome!! :D

  • definalty one of my favourites,

    lol

    LOVE IT

  • This is a indie music from America. At the teathre when they were showing Hamlet they had this song on, very good!

  • This came on three times in a tea house and I had to ask the girl what it was! So fun!

  • For janapink....Noahs Ark..thats a good one. Wearwolf

  • thanx!

  • really nice song!

  • EXTREMELY lame to discuss on youtube...

  • @everyone continued

If you wish to say that you hate the song or thing it's a destruction of the music form please try to avoid hostility. Luckily-so far-we haven't seen any 'you're gay' or mother/father jokes used to "support" their views. So avoid calling names because it doesn't do much for your argument. Thank you 2iyo and Errorkin for battling out your ideas out civilly.

Please enjoy the music or don't. Just be understanding towards others and their ideas.

  • @everyone

People have different tastes in music our ears perceive sounds differently. While it may sound like nails on a chalkboard to you it may sound beautiful to someone else. It's all a matter of opinion. If it makes someone in the world happy and doesn't necessarily hurt others who cares?

  • well 222mia222 a friend told me to watch it because they said it was funny...so u get a fucking brain and take time to consider...hmmm maybe somebody told him to watch it...besides the ability to comment on videos doesnt meen i have to say something nice...you stupid prick

  • then why watch it for gods sake....have a brain

  • Hell Yeah!

  • This is really annoying. What do my friends see in this?

  • because it's evocative, compelling, and new.

  • Compelling? Evocative? New? "Life is like a rollercoaster" is probalby the most overused and cliche lines ever and their voices are bad on purpose. How is THAT compelling? To me it just screams "We're being different! See? SEE? Look how fucking unique we are!"

  • in regards to the lyrics being "cliche," don't you find it at all ironic that they would be used in this "fucking unique" context? if you even took a moment to be objective and look at their work for what it actually is (avant-garde in it's own respect as i've never heard anything like it that is experimental but retains a certain mainstream aesthetic), then you'd realize that it's something to be appreciated and not mock.

you clearly do not give credit where credit is due.

  • You sound like Antony. "Oh these brave young American innovators need to be admired and NEVER criticized for every irritating song they write!" Just because it's not mainstream and sounds strange doesn't mean it deserves praise. Lack of convention does not connote genius or aesthetic. In Cocorosie's case? I'd say it makes them look pretentious and sloppy. And trust me, there's better experimental music than this. DJ Shadow, Radiohead, Late-career Blur, The Velvet Underground, early Pink Floyd.

  • There are many more as well.

  • i don't know who Antony is, but that is not my stance at all. not everything deserves to be admired, but i wonder if you're only naming established bands as being "better" examples of experimental because you are afraid of innovation? i don't doubt they are fantastic (radiohead is in a category of their own) but to not even recognize that cocorosie is doing something they feel is new with conviction is bullocks.

  • also: lack of convention DOES connote genius and aesthetic, if it is done _well_. nothing would be considered new if it DIDNT lack convention.

i'd really like to know your position on bands like matmos and deerhoof as well

  • I've never heard Matmos but I think Deerhoof are pretty stupid. As for Cocorosie being so "new". Sure, it's not every day that you hear a band that uses the Kazoo and a Harp...but it's just plain wretched to listen to. "If it is done well," you say. Well I say this is anything but "well". And not all genius lacks convention. Some of the best songs ever written have the standard verse, chorus, verse, chorus structure. Like almost everything the Beatles did and that stuff was absolutely genius.

  • see, the conditions deerhoof was in when they garnered attention was straight instrumentation since they didnt have anything else to play. given, it's pretty artsy fartsy but notable.

i respect that you feel it's "wrteched to listen to" but i'm not asking for you to like it.

i think some examples of bands who do it well would include (and these are defined by their ability to meld with mainstream tastes): sigur ros, portishead, wolf parade etc.

    cont.
