ahhhh...I was wondering why this video appeared when I searched for that great woody allen movie, and then you mentioned it. Right on cue! nice. we are all out of focus- we are all making it up as we go along- it's all good. Jazz music helps :)
Jazz is awesome (i did a vid #45 on chuck mangione's feels so good tho you might not consider that jazz). anyway, that is one of my fav movies! i would give kirstie alley an oscar everyday for her performance. i've never laughed harder! Thanks for watching the vid even tho it seemed unrelated to your search for a while :-D
tiff this may sound silly at 1st but i wondered if u evr considered startin a support group 4 biracial people, friends & family. groups i attend w other vet's who've had sim experiences has been invaluable 2 me. & i'm sure u wud gain a wealth of knowledge dat u could use both on a personal level & on professional level as source of info towards an eventual documentary & of course start somethin wonderful 4 others sim 2 yrself. go 2 NAMI website 4 ideas on how u could set dis up luv uncle Keith
thanks! i think you could talk more about your hair and how it changed from straighter to curlier and what that was like and the process you went through to accept who you were/are becoming because it's beautiful and who you are meant to be. Just throwing things out there. I won't be offended if you don't make vids about these things :-)
you know whats hilarious, I have 2 sisters and our biracial experience is so different. Im the lightest and look the least "ethnic" so society views and reacts differently to me than my sisters one who looks hispanic and the other black. I relate more to other females that look like me than my own sisters weird!
My older sister actualy teases me. She doesnt look or "feel" biracial because she doesnt have to (since she doesnt look it). Im constanlty being reminded of my biracialness by society.
Hi! So interesting what you say about your sisters and how the biracial experience varies within your family. Thank you so much for sharing! And answering the q & a!!! In your family is biracialness something to be less proud of than blackness, or does your older sister perhaps tease you because she wishes her looks were more representative of her parentage like yours are?
She definately is a bit jealous . Just this weekend we went out so I was all dolled up. I was getting a lot of attention and strangers were asking to take pictures with me. I thought it was funny (I look A LOT like A. Keys)Anywho someone asked if we were sisters and said that I was hot. She finally broke and asked the person "what im not" and it made everybody akward. My mom totally supports me and I am very in touch w/ my English roots. But my sis finds every opportunity to put me down :~(
I understand why she feels a bit of hositility towards me: Ive been in gifted classes my whole life, graduated from a excellent private college, pursuing my career, plus the "attraction" thing. I thin its all a bit much for her but I dont feel bas for my accomplishments. I didnt ask to be born looking like this. It really has put a strain on our relationship as we get older, its really sad. I dont even blame her,its society who puts this value on looks and turns women against each other even fam
Wow! What a tough situation for you two. I'm glad you resist the temptation to water yourself down to please her because she would still be unhappy in some way. It must be hard to be in her position. I know she's a good person who feels stuck in a bad place for reasons out of her control and that have nothing to do with who she really is. It is society at fault. I hope she finds a way out of that. It does neither of you any good for her to put you down. She's missing out on fully enjoying you!
Hi I had a quick question. Who do you date or plan to marry and if your children identified with only one race would it bother you? But the way you feel is the same way american blacks feel about africa. It's like a part of you and you want to aknowledge it and be proud of it. But take care and your dimples are the best so please pull your hair back more and show off your pretty face....
Thank you :) I've dated more white guys than black. I plan to marry whoever will be the best partner to me and parent to my children. they could be neither black or white for all i care. i have had the thought that if i have kids that are %25 black i wouldn't expect or want them to identify as black. i can't imagine any child of mine feeling exclusively white tho. and in the back of my mind i fear they could feel the need to shun me. that's a sad thought. and irrational, i know. Great ? thanks
That darn Regan--I always knew he was bad for adults--never realized that he was terrifying to little children!LOL Hair looks great. Why do you think it would not have worked for you to have a blood sibling?
Sorry to tell you, but "Race Riots" are gonna break out all over Amerikkka within the next few years. I hope you could think of something by that time.
Thanks so much for all of your nice comments today! I haven't forgotten to write you back by the way. Just trying to come up with a good, well thought out response because it's a tough question/issue. Thanks for watching :-)
Hi Tiff- Your hair looks fabulous Im so glad you decided to rock the curls. You are awesome, I was thinking the other day how wonderful it is for me to have your diaries to watch because as you know, Im not bi-racial and there are alot of things I never thought of before and alot of similarities between bi-racial kids and some blacks. Also I think it has made me more cognisant of my own biasis and stereotypes that I never questioned before. Thank you so much for sharing yourself. You r a blessing
Wow, Curlme! I've gotten many wonderful comments, but this one just might be the best because i think all I really want to do by offering up my perspective and experience, is give people a new way of looking at things and examining things and perhaps that will affect the way we all relate to each other. that, and more selfishly having a clearer vision of myself and how i fit into the world. So Thank You! u r a blessing 2!
A good number of Blacks and Whites in this country live in two different worlds. We're (I'm Black by the way) are still not fully comfortable with each other in some ways. We still segregate by church and who we choose to be friends with. It's unfortunate to be sure, but with the racial history of this country it was inevitable. The question is how long will be continue to live this way...
well they go together sometimes
