  • to be fair, raven was really, really high back in those days

  • the villano breaker

  • I remember reading that it was actually the Villano's abdominal area that was injured, not his neck.

    That was basically Kanyon's fault.

  • its the Rapture (matt & jeffs move)

  • This image was tucked away in my wrestling memories when it happened.

  • Villano Driver 98

  • Jack Reed and Max Pins do this move better ;-)

  • Actually, that did break his neck

  • LMAO..... YO!!!! IF NO ONE EVER DONE IT THAT NIGHT THEN IM GONNA SAY IT: "SOMEONE CALL 9 1 1" LOL

  • @smoothxx7 CZW???

  • It was Villano IV (Thomas Mendoza, the younger brother of Villano V, contrary their number). He did walk out on his own. He did NOT break his neck, but did suffer from herniated discs as a result, as well as a shoulder injury. It did require some rehab, but he was able to continue his career in CMLL. I think he might be the only of Los Villanos that hasn't been unmasked, unless I'm forgetting something.

  • @Staack117 Good to hear he was able to continue wrestling.. I thought this move put him out for good.

  • I remember this.

  • i remeber this. but i thought there names were like iv 3 and iv 4 or somthing and they wore yellow. and they imediatly called for paramedics and actualy broke character. must of happened more then once

  • HA HA HA!!!!! THEY DROPPED HIM!! ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaa ha ha!!!!

  • Villano, nooooooo:(

  • didn't this End Villano #87's career :(

  • Ahh, I always thought it was Raven and Saturn who did this. I stand corrected

  • And Thus Thats How The Villano Breaker Was Invented!

  • Brake all 5 of the Villanos necks, they sucked

  • break all the old wcw creators and main event wrestlers necks they all sucked and still do

  • I remeber seeing this back in the day, I was like fuck man, i remeber his bro tried to get in the ring but raven or kanyon wouldnt let him cause they were staying in charecter

  • @mrchampsi Actually, they didn't stay in character. I remember it as if I watched it yesterday. Raven and Kanyon immediately broke character. Raven kneeled beside the guy holding his head in place so he didn't move it and cause any more damage to his neck and Kanyon was down on one knee hovering over him as well checking on him. When I say immediately, I mean it. As soon as they hit the move they knew it went wrong and jumped right into position to keep his injury form getting worse.

  • the botch was horrible. I always cringe when professionals get hurt b/c I know it was for our entertainment, but I ROTFL at the "backyard" wrestling people...on a lighter note, are you sure it was Villano III?? There's like 1000 of em lol...

  • just 5 man, don't be so exagerated, and three of them (i don't really remember) are unmasked now, but daaaaaaaaamn, that's a huuuuuuuge bothc, here we call it pendejada

  • Kanyon dropped late, after Raven had him hooked in.Kaynon had control raven just dropped when he felt the downward pressure.

  • I was at that Nitro, man that was a horrible show, Kevin Nash even got on the mic and said "I'm sorry Boston, real real sorry" and we left the building chanting "RAW RAW RAW!".

Like the guy above said, the Villano ended up leaving under his own power, which was amazing.

  • that was strange of nash to do. how crappy are we talking? and when was this? honestly i never figured nash cared.

  • yeah please post the date of this show if you remember

  • Nash said that in regards to the quality of that Nitro taping?

  • DAMN!

  • Sure, cut off the part where Raven held the guys head still in case he had a broken neck until the EMTs came in.

  • This was a bad botch. I remember Raven standing there looking concerned and the other Villano trying to go on with the match. I think the sad legacy of this is this move is now referred to as the "Villano-Breaker".

  • raven was a bit stoned for that match anyway its only natural that the timing was a bit off

  • Raven did it way too quick

  • I remember seeing this happen on live TV. I think it pushed the broadcast back 10 minutes while the crews got him out. I remember raven freaking out asking if he was OK and apparently getting a message from the ref and doing a half-felt pin

  • I saw this live too, years and years ago

  • Me too... I was so shocked first. Totaly botched move...

I even remember Raven asking if he is all right...

    Scary!

  • i love these botched moves cause there so real

  • All the moves u see are real.Half of them are botched anyway but the good wrestlers can go with it.

  • fake?

  • OUCH

  • He's ok, just walk it off.

  • i remember watching that. i think it was kanyon's fault for not doing the drop in timing with raven, but maybe raven did it earlier than they were used to.

raven barely showed it in the ring, but he was freaking out. he did that thing where he used to sit in the corner of the ring, and just watched him for a bit (didn't want to break character), but Villano V (i think) just wasn't getting up, so raven got back up and went to check on him with the refs and docs.

  • oh shit I remebered that

  • oh oh. this s a real finisher :(

  • I heard that Villano was STILL out of action from this move!

  • this was years ago when it happened and I still remember it

  • So this is why its called a villano breaker

  • if one Villano breaks his neck, hey, that's okay, they got 20 more in the back.

  • i was there... this took place in boston MA

  • ..Edgar Allen Poe uses Quoth.

Raven on the other hand generally uses Quote.

Which makes you Jubbles a fucking idiot, that is all and good night.

  • Was there too. It was intense. Raven was holding his head in place during the commecial and broke character. Never seen him do that before. It was crazy.

  • Villano's neck was not broken. I was at that Nitro in Boston. He walked out on his own after a couple minutes.

  • that doesnt always mean a guy doesnt have a broken neck. its not completely unheard of for a person to be able to move and walk with certain breaks. im sure it hurts like hell but i have heard of it and seen it (football, etc). now if villano was dancing and cartwheeling away he was probably not hurt.

  • That was called the Hangman's Powerbomb and DAMN that was sick!!!!!!!!

  • quote the raven never more bitches

  • Quoth

  • no, its Qoute.

  • it's Quoth the Raven, nevermore.

    Read some Edgar Allen Poe.

  • alright and go onto his website and read his interviews. they have promos posted on there and he says QOUTE. so go check out a website thats run by both Raven and his friend.

  • How about no? There's been times he's said 'Quoth' and then there's been times he has said 'Quote' I go by the earlier version, because Quoth is so much better sounding than Quote.

  • alright, but Qoute has and will always be the word people will use. I enjoyed handing you your ass with all the trimmings.

  • Hah. You did nothing of the sort. To even think so is to prove your pre-pubescent ignorance.

  • i remember this. i used to love this shit. raven and kanyon were amazing. to bad they werent used more.

  • briscoes in ROH do it all the time. They were too close together and timed it poorly

  • Kanyon Bomb '98

  • terribly timed move. but anyone can make a mistake.

  • Actually, that did break his neck, no almost about it.

  • I remember that
