lol, barkers are people who hangs outside establishment to bring people in. We had so many in St. Thomas VI where I once lived but it got to be too much everything screaming to come into their restaurants and bars lol
I do like Neil Young, but I don't think he's AMAZING. I like about ten of his songs a whole lot. Maybe I'm crazy for saying this, but I never liked the album Harvest much. I much prefer Everybody Knows This is Nowhere and After The Gold Rush.
To many he is AMAZING but I understand, he did come out with some that was a downer like "greendale" and "shocking pink" which I thought was horrible but it makes up for so many music he made that was so awesome. He wrote songs about racism, war, pain, sadness, love, violence, hatred, peace, in a way that to me no others have. After The Gold Rush was the first Album I ever owned by Neil YOung and still have it.
Really? I think thats awesome your sons into neil young. Not many people in my age group listen to older music but honestly its about 1000 times better than the rap most teens in my school listen to. Theirs actual meaning besides sex and drugs.
I never liked rap music but my son listens to a few but he favors Neil Young and other 60's anti-war type music. Maybe because I listen to it a lot when he was growing up. : )
It used to be the way it sounds when i was little but now that i know what its about it makes me sad because its sort of about at least to me the loss of childhood and innocence as you grow up and the fact that you can never retrieve it or return to it. Im only 16 but i love neil because he put actual thought and emotion into music.
Yes but you are still a child and still innocent and my son loves Neil too and he is in his teens like you. Neil Young does puts so much thoughts and emotion many are from his life experience and we can relate too as well.
well i love neil...he's been one of my idols for a good 13-14 years...i know thats not long in the scope of his career but....still dont sound like neil to me...i liked it though...
I have to admit that I'm wrong on this one. I don't think I've ever heard such an early recording. But after listening again and to another YouTube version (slower I think) I agree with you. His voice really does sound affected, like he's purposefully lilting it. Anyhow, I'm on the same page as you now. Very cool.
Thank you gabrielle. I know Neil very well because I have been a fan of his music since High School. When my friend sent me these CD's 3 years ago I was in 7th heaven lol
Just want you to know that this isn't Neil on this version. He doesn't have that whimsical lilt at the end of a sentence. It's probably one of the other Buffalo Springfield members.
Of course it is . I can even tell just by his voice plus the person who gave me the demos worked in the music industry that is why he gave me the CD , 2 of them with about 25 songs of Neil.
Check out some of Buffalo Springfield's songs and I think you'll understand. This doesn't sound like any of the early Neil that I've ever heard before. I think that I can only be wrong if he's lilting his voice on purpose. This is simply not the way he enunciates, based on all his early studio works. It doesn't matter that your friend worked in the industry - it must have come out of a Buffalo session. Cool version, but it sounds more like an early Stills or Furay than an early Young.
Yeah you are right. This is a demo so probably put that part in when he wanted a cigarette and someone gave him a mean look lol

Now you're underneath the stairs
And you're givin' back some glares
To the people who you met
And it's your first cigarette.
Somehow its missing in this one

i agree and one thing more is the instrument used wasn't a guitar but a yukulele, but the spirit of the song still there.
