It is not torture porn because of what is happening to the characters, it is that because of what is doing for the watcher. The movie is packed with anxiety, which just isn't horror. Horror and psychotic masochism are two different things and Eli Roth himself doesn't know anything about the genre. I think horror has a hint of empathy and superstition in it, while this movie and for example Hellraiser 2 from another director function as to visualize their own subjective issues.
