I used to do the same thing like wat you did by counter-attacking but it didnt work on my style and it is also suitable to use the short short to defeat multiple enemies becuz it is more lighter and faster than the sword. My Style is to attack and when they'll block i will use the critical strike and i sometimes counter-attack but not so often , Cuz i often finish them before they can attk me so i dont use counter-attk so much. BTW i use X360 so its much much more easier !!
