Thanks for giving us an idea of your experience having a bone scan from a patient's perspective. I have worked in Nuclear Medicine for over 30 years and teach students clinical skills at university. With your blessings I will play your video to them. It is crucial that they know the patient's reality and understand this early in their career. I'll use the video to highlight the crucial role of two way communication and patient education. Empathy is the key here & reassurance the goal.
Very much, Im in a hospital bed now waiting for them to come take me to have this test done. It was nice to hear from a person thats been thru it, they just dont tell you much here, and the web sites just scared me because it just said what they were looking for.
I got a bone scan on my lower extremities today. Being injected with nuclear medicine sounds freaky but the nurse said it has no side effects. Since I ride the NYC subway the doctor gave me a letter stating that I will be radioactive for up to 3 days in case of any terrorism inspections on the train.
I'm going in tomorrow for my bone scan, and this vid helps me know what to expect. Fortunately it will be a foot scan and not a body scan. Thanks for posting this! :)
I'm going for a "Full Body Nuclear Scan" tomorrow, and your report helped me be "ready". They are looking for pheochromocytoma in my case, but I think it should be a similar scan. I'll be injected at 11 am and scanned at 2 pm, so it sounds very similar. Thank You for posting this!
