  • why didn't he just keep his knight where it was? Always good defensive strategy by keeping bishop open. Would not have happened if he did so.

  • It's either checkmate in two or Q gets raped by a horse.

  • i can see why he'd fall for this, i have never seen anything like this before

  • I don't see a smothered queen very often!

  • i love the sound of his throat as he takes little breaths its so Russian

  • they who playd this game where noobs or masters ?

  • @ProduceHazards This game was actually played in the 1924 Paris tournament. They were both strong players, at that time.

  • zucchinimann is a dumbass for saying not enough counter play lol as the game just started and white has only 1 piece developed and cant castle so there plenty for black to come back stupid ass

  • Wait, wait, wait...how old is this game? Because after d4 Nf6 Nd2 seems like an atrocious opening when contrasted with c4, Nf3, or Bf4

  • They played Chess during the middle ages.

  • Yes, but I mean how old is this individual game? I would think if this game were somewhat recent opening theory would be developed to the point that that move would never be made.

  • ZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz No, I'm just kidding! I love chess!

  • I wonder how a chess champion like Gibaud couldn't see that coming.

  • What about black knight to F2, taking the pawn? I think that works to your advantage too, maybe not as elegant as what is shown here.

  • No, it doesn't work.

    After 4. ... Nxf2 5. Kxf2 Qh4+ 6. g3 Qd4+, Black has sacrificed one Knight vs. 2 pawns and not enough counterplay.

    In the best case, 4. ... Nxf2 is unclear, i.e. 4. ... Ne3 is THE move.

  • sorry, Black has sacrificed the Knight for only one pawn, since he first sacrificed a pawn. It makes the situation even more dubious for the second player.

  • the only reason that worked is because gibaud moved his knight to d2 where his king would have been able to escape to

  • crappy

  • serguei looks like the main character for GTA 4 the game

  • damn theese r amazing!

  • great!

  • Thanks that really genius. Can you please man Tutorial about a good openning ?

  • thats dirty! but why would white play 2. Nd2? there is really no reason, and after Nd2, there is nearly no defence.

  • not winnable lol

  • i think the knights must never be on front of the king or queen...

  • very clever!

  • you make great videos Serguei !

  • great

  • nice

  • Genius!

  • Wow! Nice, I am trying that one.

  • Suppose that white does not save the queen? It would be a hard fight, but is the game still winable, or can mate be forced after the queen loss?

  • im preety sure its still winable with a good strategy

  • Is chess a game of remembering these things or every game is unpredicted

  • great

  • Cool, subscribed. I played chess a lot but stopped recently. Im going to try that trick on some amateur. Im positive they'll move those exact moves too. Crappy players are really predictable.

  • a small sliver of options....

  • is this guy really Russian? he looks a lot more like John Hargrave though! lol

  • haha. i laughed when he said 'lazard is black'

  • lmfao suprisingly i laughed at the same thing

  • very good

  • hm, interesting.

  • I loved playing chess, but forgot all about it,thank you so much for a refreshing and intresting channle like this one

  • lol but i cant play chess

  • great job serguei!

my cousin is the 2nd best player in canada :) i play chess with him but i rarely win lol

  • its surprising that a person that formats their name xXx(your dumb ass name here)xXx would not understand anything that has to do with any logic at all i bet the most thought provoking thing you've done in the past few years is breath

  • ;-)

  • WOW! that is a grate strategy now i can beat my dad at chess !

  • great video! I look forward to learning more :)

  • I was introduced to chess when I was in the AF. I loved the game and started winning. Not that I was good but I bought several books on chess which I still have. However, I haven't played for years.

    Thanks for the invite.

  • excellent! high tide.

    Helives!

  • I solved the puzzle. good game

  • good job!! i subscribe!

  • NICE...if only we could apply this intelligence to our humanity! Learn from our patterns, statistics and mistakes, or when we prevail!

  • good vid.

  • I find the ecombinatorial and topological problems related to this game fascinating because the game structure is related to several branches of mathematical theory. Not that I´m a wizard myself - but I love the challenge. Thankyou for your educational vidioes.

  • awsome vid 5\5

  • I say we play him on line so we can see just how good he is :)

  • *chess is a very logical game and it's safe to say i suck but great tutorial video =)*

  • That was sooooooooo awsome! I love chess like i love food!

  • Great exposition of a quick kill. Thanks Serg! I'm subscribing...

  • online chess here i come ^^

  • It is very good video !

  • Nice, i like it

  • Would it have been possible to perform the castling move? (rook switched w/ king) Impressive quick game.

  • No, because you cannot castle if there are pieces between the rook and King, or if the King is in check.

  • Those were maazing move by black.....nice tactic

  • Shouldn't the king's and queens position be reversed?

  • I believe you're confused because the board is shown from blacks position, rather than having the white pieces at the bottom.

  • The video demonstrates Lazard's position and invites us to think about the problem from his perspective. After all Lazard would not have been viewing the board from White's side would he?

  • Nice mate in ten! Excellent channel, Serguei.

  • this is pretty kickass

  • Can I double jump after you King me? Great channel good stuff! Thanks!

  • I like it, it's like... nerd crack! Yet another new subscriber here ^.^

  • NERDS

  • That was pretty interesting. :O

Thanks for inviting me, I subscribed. :)

  • lol nice move thanks for the invite i subscribed

  • whoa!

  • sorry guys ,,but , instead of moving pown , the white can move the knight and put queen in danger !!!!!!!!!

  • cool. Thanks for your invitation.

  • Your video is excellent thanks for the invitation

  • i have known some quick killer moves but this one must have slipped by me.... thanks for the tip!!

  • wow i never saw it coming

  • wow cool move

  • what do u think ur doing watching this

  • Nice video. Black was a silent killer

  • nice one!

  • thansk for contacting me

    great video

    new friend

  • very nice my dad taught me this strategy awhile ago its so helpful. it is pretty unexpected 5 stars!

  • funny

  • Uncultured retard (in response to mhs7720) Some of us are intelligent enough to actually understand this. Others frown upon what they know nothing of.

  • what a way to lose!

  • It's a pretty old trick, but it works vs starters.

  • if he had done 2)c4 it would be protected

  • damn, I could never figure out that horse move.

    What a play.

  • I CHALLENGE YOU AND I WILL BEAT IN ! MIN FLAT!!!111!1.(Just joking I suck)

  • When Black Knight moves to E3, I usually move my fist left to jaw center and, from thence, into victory.

  • hahahahaha...you've just proved that chess is a physical sport...lol

  • I had one chess instructor get so frustrated with me, he finally screamed "Dis is not Air-Hockey!"

    LOL!

  • I agree...

    Good video.

  • Nicely done! I gotta use that one!

    Thanks

  • very interesting

  • wow, fantastic

  • wow gotta remember that, amazing!

  • As a beginner, I routinely fall victim to traps like this. Thanks for the lesson.

  • annotations...very helpful, and nice video

  • Simply amazing. Please post more opening traps like this!!

  • Wow! What possessed Gibaud to play Nc2?

  • I meant to say Nd2. Sorry about that.

  • The best chess video, ever!! Short, efficient and very entertaining!! KingCrusher, I hope you are not too jealous on this production... :)

  • Yes, pretty! but dumb. I've never seen anyone played like white in a tourney, not even lowies. Nice video layout though. Please post more competent openings.

  • I heard that game never existed. Was it played in a tournament or was it a off hand game?

  • the video is pretty nice; well made, explanatory and your accent isn't bad, 5 stars

  • that was awesome

  • Interesting tactic

  • Very interesting but also unlikely to happen if your opponent knows the right defense in the beginning

  • such boring voice sorry. have you heard the other tutorials from people like kingcrusher - much much better sorry. good chess bad commentary.

  • Excellent video :D

  • OMG!

  • love it

  • Thanks for your video. But I would've been greatful to you if you tell what were white mistake, because it is clear that white has committed a severe error that made him either lose the queen or get a checkmate.

  • Just looked again at the video. White ignored the deadly fork attacking the knight, and by taking the knight with fxe3 - checkmate is inevitable. I think instead of moving h-pawn attacking the knight, queenside knight on c4 (also to protect that d-pawn )should've moved to allow the dark squared Bishop to put cover of e3.

  • No sorry, the overall idea you have might be correct (and you are correct that h3 is the mistake!), but 4. Nc4 fails to 4. ...Nxf2 5. Kxf2 Qh4 6. g3 Qxc4. Instead Ndf3 (or optionally Ngf3) is better for it defends the pawn and covers h4 while not being as vunerable as Nc4.

  • Great game.Russians are so proficient with chess ,they are a great and very talented people and we see this jewel of talent in such men as Vorojtsov.

  • Thank you for your comment and sub!

  • I thought Black maybe should play 4. ... Nxf2, but then there's 5. Kxf2 and if 5. ... Qh4+ then 6. g3 can safely block the check.

There's still 5. ... Bc5+, forcing the king out into the open because 6. Ke1?? is met by 6. ... Qh4#, however 6. e3 seems to find Black unprepared for a proper attack.

  • Thank you! Interesting subvariation!!!

  • thank you

  • mad so gonna do it.

  • I always play this opening and it works every time. Amazing.

  • really? I've never seen white play D2 like that

  • Not really. I was kidding.

  • thank you so much

  • OH!! Lazard is black side on the chess board. I was thinking races xD.

    Pretty sweet moves.

  • great vids

    keep on going dude

  • awsome

  • i saw that move coming..

  • thank you for posting this video

  • Thats quite incredible, the position after h3 is a win for black, even if the checkmate is not done, the queen is captured, and with 6 points material advantage surely black can win.

I just tried the position out on my engine.

    colin-java . co . uk/JChess

Black found the key move Ne3 straight away.

Its kind of easier for a computer since it won't overlook this move which many humans do since it looks like your just throwing away a knight.

    Very good!

  • Brilliant.

  • Thank you for posting this minature game.
