  • Hi Justin. Great lesson man. Thanks so much.

    Misael (Brazil)

  • When my dad taught me my basic first chords of playing the guitar, to make it more fun and exciting for an 8 year old he called Em7 "E minor with birthdays"

  • all those crazy technical names for the chords make me wanna smoke a big joint in my rooooooooooooooooom :) yay :)

  • I loved this tutorial and hated it. It taught me the main part very well, but I still have one very simple question. Why... the hell... doesn't ANY tutorial on youtube show the strumming patterns for the variations?

  • the cccccc chord to e miiiiinor :)

  • thanks

  • Thank you so much, so easy to follow and helped me out loads :D

  • I lost my capo ...

  • Then there's a variation on cccccccccccccccccccccccc

  • ha ha i love how you say capo.

  • I've learned the song playin' :-)

I made cover of the song. Please check it out! ;-)

  • Your a great teacher I've seen on YouTube teaching this song or any song. I'm singing the chords to remember. Great job!

  • 17 people were jealous of his awesomeness

  • justin is GOD

  • very nice justin :)

  • Justin is the man.

  • "And you're my Em C..."

  • "the only tricky part of the tune" I just fell off my chair mate. awesome technique with your teaching.... makes it very easy to understand. cheers big ears!

  • Hey Jason... just wanted to tell you I think it is funny, cool and effective that you actually sing the "chord names" to the changes as oppossed to the words. I never heard anyone else do that before (besides myself when I teach) and it is a very effective tactic for sure. You also possess a personality to accompany your solid, accurate playing/teaching style. You are one of the few on youtube who actually play this song correctly with good feel. Rock on my friend. : )

  • if you love the way he is changing the text of songs with cord names than thumbs up :D

  • Do you strum the bass note every time,or do you only include it in the G?

  • AWESOME!

  • Don't enjoy the hat.

  • How man of you nailed the chorus?

    tips? =]

  • @livinindubai Just keep trying :) After you've mastered it, it seems REALLY easy.. but thats (with me atleast) with every thing I train. Justin has really great beginner and intermediate courses on his website. I strongly suggest you doing those, in 6 months I am playing really REALLY well (not to sound cocky). I'll try to post the beginning of Layla soon (which is a hard song in my eyes), I can allready do it, but I just want it to be able to do it blindly.

  • in the beginning hes not even playing the strumming pattern he teaches

  • you my friend are an Unsung Hero

  • I know this is an old video, but your generosity and awesome skill for teaching is astounding. Thank you!

  • l love you!

  • thanks man keep doin it

  • nice your my Em C cool i like ur style.....^____^

  • i love you. :DDD

  • thankyou sir

  • DUDE!!!! You are too good and to damn funny teaching this song!!! I finally got it because of you and the "THE ONLY TRICKY PART OF THE TUNE" @4:25... Many thanks a props to your way of teaching!!!!!!!!

  • great teacher! i need to get a better acoustic than the $100 yamaha i got : /

  • Whats your guitar Brand?....

  • @fadhliishere i believe he uses an Australian made Maton Acoustic

  • What your guitar Brand?....

  • IS THERE ANYWAY TO PLAY THIS WITHOUT A CAPO?

  • @Shakcountant yeah...you'll have to adjust your voice to suit the chords...which is hard...

or you can change the chords which may be harder...take your pick

    good day

  • @PennilessandTired

    @Shakcountant

I've seen it played with the same finger pattern (Ghord name changes) the same strumming pattern and everything..Starting from the second fret .it just doesn''t sound exactly like the original song.

  • @jdvalero It is very hard to play it original. I play it in an another way

  • great but you explain too much

  • i can finally play it now, thanks bro great video!

  • Thank you, thank you, *thank you*!!! As a complete newbie learning guitar (only 4 weeks now) your tutorial has finally taught me the variation chords that I didn't know, and helped sort out my strumming pattern!! Now I can play the whole song!! :-D

  • A few years ago I had tried to play this song for a long time but had given up because I just could not get the rythm. The chord are not to hard but the rythm isdifficult. One day at work this song came on the radio and I suddenly got it. Suddenly I realized how to play the rythm. At the end of the day I went home Picked up my guitar and Igot it right away. This video is helpful but the key is to just listen to the rythm of the song.

  • @MrBuc128

    what great advice!

  • @averyellis Am I sensing sarcasm? ...LOL

  • do i have to play this song with metal strings? please answer

  • @basoroton I played it without metal strings, worked fine, metal strings just tends to give a cooler sound imo.

    Great vid, thanks.

  • really bizarre strumming pattern.

  • Great video and all, i can now play about 75 percent of this classic song down to a T, but is this the official version of the chords? Cos there is like 10 different toturials on Youtube, its really annoying :P

  • Justin,

Why did you pull down all your TABS? you state on your website that what was on your website will remain on there forever for free, not cool :(

  • @kakerman

He had to mate- Bigbrother warned him!

    Shame as it is educational

  • Who is Big Brother?

  • @kakerman he had to take em down because of legal issues.

  • @matinee310 its a shame that he couldnt even just let members and say they are enrolled as students under him :D dammnnn :(

  • Thank you! you are the best of them all! =D

  • "the only tricky part of the tune" ahahahahahahhaha =))))

  • thanks Justin this is your best video yet!

  • I like how you sing with the chords, it really helps.

  • " ...you're my Emin C..." LOL too funny! Please do one on 'Don't look back in Anger' !! I love learning songs from you!

  • @82cyndi... yeh he rocks. and don't look back in anger wud be great cos it's real hard to learn by ear. the original version has too mcuh going on to hear it, with all the piano and stuff.

  • I have it wrote down with al the chords with the lyrics if u need just message me :) might be easier that way and easy to play along to if u watch this and learn the chords.

  • Brilliant! Thank you!

I got the strumming pattern down but it all falls apart once I start singing. It's hard to sing and strum at the same time (at least for me it is).

  • I've watched it now many times but I couldn't check out the right stumming... which is the real one?? The chords are clearly: E G D A ( D = Down / U = Up) : D D D D U D U D D D U D U D D D U U U D U D U or is it this one: D D D D U D U D D D U D U D D D U U U D U D U
  • you can find chords and strumming pattern for this song at Justin's website.

  • @BlackCobra99999 - Go to his website and download the tab sheet. The strumming pattern is there.

  • "you're my Emin7" ahaha classic

    thanks for the lesson!

  • I see your doing a bit of strumming on the Mayton Jester. Sounds great. Thanks for the lesson.

  • thank you so much!!! :)

  • During the verse, on the A chord, I like to hammer from 0 to 2 on the G string. That's just me, though.

  • Great tutorial, this helped me alot, Could you do a lesson of Oasis Don't Look Back In Anger

  • I've watched so many vids about the strumming pattern of this song and they never worked for me.

THIS is the first one that actually helped me, thanks to you know I got the strumming right.

    You, sir, are a genius.

  • justin you should do route 66 like to see your way that you do it i know the bacie cords a d e just would like to see how you would go about doing it thanks for all the suff you have done to date great stuff man strum on justin

  • i love u man. god has blessed u a lot, n i wish that he bless u even more.

  • ive noticed that with an accoustic, the pick you use is the main difference in what tone you get. so what size pick would you use to get a god tone for this song?

  • You should use a thin pick (0.5mm or so) for this song since a lot of strumming is involved. It's easier plus thicker picks tend to give a bit of a metallic sound to the song (in my opinion)......

  • any strings needs to be muted?
