Alright. I am an army wife. When people sign up they sign up for EIGHT years. 3 years or more active duty and then 5 in the reserve, where they have the right to call you back up if they need you. READ your damn CONTRACT before you SIGN it!! My husband was stop lossed, AND recalled to active duty. He is in Iraq right now. He wasn't very happy about getting called back up, but he went.

When you sign up, regardless of how long your active duty time is for, you are signed up for 8 years, your active duty time and IRR(Individual Ready Reserve). They can call you up anytime within those 8 years, even if your active duty is up. This is clearly explained by recruiters. Everybody wants the benefits of the military without following through on their half of the commitment. If you don't want to go to Iraq, don't join, it's that simple. I don't agree with the war, but cowards are worse.

I signed up to do a job, and I did it. The people in this video didn't get drafted, they volunteered. They knew what they were getting themselves into when they did it. Do you really believe it's that simple, all those wars you mentioned? Having a strong military is what keeps us free, regardless of whether or not the wars themselves were wrong. Having brave men and women serving in the military is what keeps us from being invaded. It's easy to throw insults hiding behind a computer isn't it?

You still can't name a single war fought in the past half century wherein a credible defense of freedom took place. In what sense does any of the massively bloated military expenditure of lives and money and resources add to our freedom as a nation? Uh, buddy, it seems like you're the one who should consult a history book. Reagan's saber rattling and military arms buildup only served to prolong the Cold War. There was already the understanding of mutual destruction, the proliferation of nuclear arms in Russia in response to US military spending only increased the threat of nuclear apocalypse today, and the policies you praise are what we're now paying the price for.

Regardless of how evil the war might be, regardless of how much my recruiter lied, or regardless of how much stop loss sucks, I could never abandon my brothers and leave them without their medic. I do understand, and this whole issue complicated, while i do advocate conscietous objectors, I would never advocate abandoning your brothers in the field. One of the things I like about were I live is you always know your fellow veterens got yer back. I also believe the best way we can support our troops is by bringing them home. The war wont be over for those guys even after their home. In vietnam, we lost more soldiers to suicide after they returned than got killed in Vietnam.

This "war on terror" is not a war. There is no real way for the U.S. to "win" this so-called war. Some might say, "till every terrorist is killed or brought to justice," but when you have a revolving door of recruits who want nothing more than to have the U.S. out of their land, it will never end. That's what happens when congress doesn't make a specific declaration of war. Think about the "war on drugs" for instance.

ok lets cut through this i am Army and it is the jurisdiction of the the area where the offense took place . If his unit is in Iraq and he was listed as AWOL his court will be Iraq .if in KUWAIT then you go back to KUWAIT .this applies to all soldiers so if the Judge advocate thats responsible for your area of operation is IRAQ so be it your trial is IRAQ . please lets not be BLUE FALCONS on this .the SPC knows he is bound by the UCMJ .this is the law
