  • There is a listing at the top of this page of the Die Serenaden, but that is a separate piece, not related to the oboe sonata, therefore it's probably a typo.

  • people really seem to like to include black and white artwork on youtube videos of hindemith's music! i think it makes a lot of sense, hindemith - like bach - is a monochromatic composer in my mind's eye. =)

  • This is ridiculous!!! Why are some of the best composers unheardof. This is like my first time hearing this man's work and I'm in shock at what I'm hearing. smh. Not to discredit all other great composers but why isnt this man in the all-star lineup! That's all I'm saying!

  • I really love this piece.

  • Actually, Hindemith is a dead white guy. It is a nice piece that all of us oboe players study at one time. I think that the oboist in the recording captured the light, lyrical, playful nature of the piece. Thanks.

  • @MrsWebfoot YOU WISH YOU HAD THE MIND,AND FRIENDS HE DID,KURT WEILL,LOTTE LENYA,FURTWANGLER,BRUNO WALTER,bauhaus artists,he WAS A WIZARD,,ENDLESS MELODIESAS ARTIST I HAVE ,HUNDREDS OF PAINTINGS,i am well liked, but i cannot, and never can think up ONE MELODY,THE MAN IS GENIUS,, WE ALLNEED TO GIVE UP THE 17TH CENTURY MOZARTIAN BORISH DRIVEL, WE ALL GONNA BE DEAD WHITE GUYS,actually black, then dust

  • I played this last year, the most difficult part is the syncopation with the pianist. You have to just ignore the piano in places or you will lose your count.

  • What is that picture you have up?

  • What is that picture you have up?

  • so strange.

    so beautiful.

    so DIFFICULT.

it is pieces like this, pieces which defy all sort of melodic and harmonic and rhythmic convention and at the same time a similar structure to the classics, while still somehow maintaining musicality; that make me grateful that classical music is still being written and not left to the old dead white guys everyone will always remember.
