residential schools were the only way to educate children of isolated nomadic hunting bands in the '30s and '40s...they weren't there to subjugate indians...they were operated on the same standards as other schools of the time...the loser @1:58 has never been near a residential school and will never make $30k in his life...indians had tenancy of canada for 15000 years and have never produced anything but now that developement has occurred, indians have become injured landowners

i think all the land of canada belongs to First Nation ppl. there are nations all accross canada. this is THEIR FUCKING LAND. im amazed we havent gone to war over it yet. We stole it, lets give them the ability to mine their land and profit off THEIR land they would be sooo much better off, earning their own money. its like we are israel, ok, we came and took over all of palestine, a country that existed before israel. israel took all their land. same thing.

It is acknowledged by Australian Aboriginal people themselves that some missions did not do such a bad job. In the 19th century, it is mostly missionaries that have written down the grammar and vocabulary of indigenous languages as well as their traditions. Europe has not lost its identity on the introduction of the christian faith, but developed a culture closely linked to it. Many whites did not actually want to bring the christian faith to the indigenous people, but kill them as peoples.

Well, it is the duty of Christians to tell others about the sinful nature of men and Jesus as the savior. The christian faith had brought progress to Europe. However, many white settlers had preached christian faith, but in the same time believed to great extent in darwinist ideology. This does not suit!

On the other hand, we must acknowledge that there had been missionaries with respect for the indigenous people and their culture and wanted to help them out of altruism.

the twisted thing about the missionaries is that theyre own ancestors suffered the same abuses they pushed on you dudes! Christianity in Europe is only about a 1000 years old! the tribes fought hard to hold it back especially when the traitor "Scout!" Charlemaigne,(a Frankish tribesman), turned on his own tribal relatives the Saxons. he killed 4000 tribal leaders and holy men!

In wpg,Mb theres a intersection known as "the circle" which is the area near river& osborne streets. There are 6 churches in this 1 block radius, yes 6...count them!

Apparently these churches were built directly on top of sacred indian burial grounds.

So saddened to hear of Aboriginals receiving settlement from the Government use the money only to buy booze and party thousands of dollars away! Many do not think of the suffering they underwent and buy usefull items to help them heal. For many the Education they received was substandard and did not educate them to handle money very well or teach how to budget in their daily lives

I am currently changing my views on they way I live today and it is very fullfiling. I and my family have changed alot of our ways. looking to the natural energies that surround us all. Natural plant remedies. among alot of other things. look forward to more learning from Aboriginal People all over the world. The oppression goes on because often non-aboriginal ppl think that ndn ppls should just hurry "up and assimilate", the dominant culture cant understand why anyone WOULDNT want to switch over to their society and ideologies. How many of their own commandments do you think the Europeans broke when they imposed their policies on us? Did God personally give them authority to decide who does the work of the devil? The only work done by the "devil" was the work of their own efforts for their own benefit.

Something tells me that if natives were not put on reserve lands in these ares, then we would have no one to stand up for mother earth. In a way it made us more aware of the importance of the preservation of our languages and cultures.

Maybe a good lesson would be for Aboriginal Peoples around the world to ALL go to the countries of origin that perpetrated these crimes against them like ENGLAND,Ireland,Scotland, and just say...hey we're moving in and you all have to go live on a reservation...but wait first, we want your children so we can deprogram them.

Shame on the Churches..Shame on the Government and Shame on the RCMP who tore weeping children from their heartbroken mothers. Mothers that HAD to sign guardianship of their children to the Church run residential where their attempt of Cultural genocide led to beatings, sexual, emotional and Spiritual abuse. Thank Creator and Kevin Annett for exposing the reality to the world that at least 50,000 innocent children "went missing" and never returned to their homes and families.
