  • 31:50 Trey's face followed by an couple amazing stories/trey trying to explain people emotionally and spiritually connecting to his music...hilarious

  • "i don't regret it but...it started to become an excuse for people to show up in a given town and party...it never was that for such a long time...i want to accept responsibility for that if that's what it became...that's just not right to me..."

now, trey can accept responsibility for that changing in the phish scene and hopefully, in in their ways, all of them can take responsibility to help change the music industry again for THE BETTER

  • 21:53 WoOoOoOHhhh!

  • It may be a little absurd to ask this question, but "Does anybody know the date of the show he mentions playing Divided Sky in Chicago?" Totally rediculous...I love the way he describes this experience and the crowds understanding of a mutual connection to the music.

  • 6-18-94

  • Trey doesn't have an ego. He did in about '91 and '92, but he was in his twenties and he obviously grew up. He's a truly great person, and I don't understand where "ego-maniac started. It's bullshit.

  • i'm sorry- but what do you mean by phish 09?

  • phish 09!!!

  • "five to seven hour" practice sessions... Gee Trey, that sounds exhausting, almost like having a real job! Did it occur to you that drug burn was your problem, not overwork?... LOL "Five to seven hours." and "Ego-maniac"?? Who ever thought of that? By the way I think Trey is a great bandleader. But his persona here is not "integrity," it was chemically synthetic and today, more sober, he knows that.

  • Funny interview because Trey is high as a kite and pretty drug addled. Saw them in concert some 20 days later and it was good. Look how pale he is!!!!

  • Please note the integrity oozing out of Trey's pores during this entire interview. He is a good man.

  • I am pretty sure that their break up had alot to do with treys drug problem after seeing this video. How he is talking about how he cant take it anymore and how Page and alot of other very close family members, for example his parents, kept telling him that he needed to stop because touring was "exausting" him.

  • Trey* No one loves phish more than you.

  • Phish No one loves phish more than you... but, you didnt appreciate your own self at this point in life. I think you were lost, and you ought to reevaluate your self.

  • Trey that new album blows... but i still think your an incredible musician.

  • Hey folks it's official! Trey retracted all this so expect Phish to be back soon cause the inevitable happened so go on Phishnet for the scoop!

  • does anybody know what year that was that Trey talks about the moment of Divided Sky at the UIC Pavillion in Chicago? I have always been confused about what happened with Phish, but this interview says it all, and I wish I could have been a part of it, but I understand why they did what they did.

  • 6/18/94 - UIC Pavilion, Chicago, IL.

I saw them for the first time a few weeks after that show and they were definitely on some kind of roll. They were until about 1998 and then hit the wall, in my opinion. They made the right choice.

This is a fantastic interview, by the way.

  • This is an excellent interview. I'm 24, and I've listend to Phish, and pretty much only Phish, for the past 6 years, but I am a true fan, and I love what they did with their music. The part in this video where Trey says "I love Phish more than anybody" really hit me emotionally as somebody that didn't understand the breakup, and it drove me to a few tears. I really hope Trey is doing better, and I agree that it was the right decision, but now he needs to make some more of those good decisions

  • III,III,III,III,III,I HAVE KIDS TOO...ITS TIME TO ROCK...AND OH BY THE WAY PLEASE DON'T BLAME IT ON "THE BAND". I THINK AND MAYBE I'M WRONG BUT I THINK IT ALL RELAYS ON TREY...TREY NEEDS TO QUIT THINK'IN ABOUT TREY AND MORE...ABOUT PHISH...DONT YOU REMEMBER TREY..."WAR IS BAD"...STOP IT...REMEMBER TREY...MAYBE YOU'RE THE PROBLEM ...REMEMBER NOBODY LOVES PHISH MORE THAN YOU...PLEASE GET IT GOING...NOW IS THE TIME..........PS...THIS ISN'T THE TIME...poorheart!!!PSS...ITS NOT THE RIGHT THING...

  • 7/16 of one inch. That's how much you have to move your pinky in order not to sound like an idiot. Turn your fucking caps lock key off. Trey is incredible. I'm only 13 and I understand this better than you do? Jesus.

  • haha nice man

  • what a genius....yem

  • such an intelligent guy. chech out liog with dave matthews it unigue to say the least and the most recent video of trey playing.

  • this is [hish

  • Going out on a high note is cool. Not too sure I agree with them not being able to practice anymore...it's a matter of wanting to do it. These guys all are embedded in pop culture whether they like it or not. Lots of music greats keep it going until death...but I can see them wanting to end it like the Beatles and not let it drag and get as destructive as the dead. I love Phish. Trey...you made a good decision.

  • penis

  • Jonathon Schwartz all time phish fan..things will never be the same with him

  • Phish/Trey vids on my channel.

If it never hapens again. At least it happened once.

  • Thank God they posted this Jonathon Schwartz interview good stuff.

    2-23-03 Tweezer

  • Yes jonathan schwartz is an idiot. and a terrible guitar player.

But that trey. god he is something else man.

  • Every time i see this man my heart sinks, because all we can do is wait until he discovers that putting Phish to rest will never be the right thing, and that one of these beautiful days they will come back and blow us all away.

  • i understand your view, however, i'm not sure if you're a musician but you'd have to put yourself in his shoes cause it's not that easy... i agree though that they should perform again, maybe not for years on end but it would be nice and i'm sure they will cause they're friends and that's the thing...

  • I understand Trey. Phish is something that needs to be kept respected, and letting it drag is not going to accomplish that.

  • i dont expect it to happen today or even tomorrow or even in the next five years, but i pray that one day it will happen, even if its in the distant future. i am a musician myself and understand why the band broke up, but it simply just makes me sad.

  • thats so cool you decided to say that and now theyre playing again. high five man

  • *tear*
