Hi Sweet Amy... I might sound like a complete dufuss here but are sweet potatoes the same thing as yams? We don't use that many of either veg up here and I honestly have never tried them. Or maybe it's just me that has no idea about what they are. Duhhh!!! You are always giving me new and great ideas that I just must try! LOL

@BunnyDrops Hi Dearest Bonnie! It's so wonderful to hear from you. This is an excellent question. Yams and sweet potatoes are different and come from different parts of the world. Where I am, in the midwest part of the US however the terms sweet potato and yam are used interchangeably. They even put both 'sweet potato' and 'yam' on the same can. But most of our stores carry only sweet potatoes. It depends on your location if you can find/buy yams. Talk to you soon! Much love...

I see McCains has frozen sweet potato fries out. I think I may try them first to see what they taste like. If I go buy some real sweet potatoes or yams in the store I will be too confused what to do with them just yet. Thanks for the info though... we shall see?

well I agree not trying it 'cause of so much extra sugar. forget the sugar and do it with "normmal" potatoes alittle salt, spices a little nuts and it's sry yummier than ur.

This recipe sounds wonderful!!Do you think there would be much difference with fresh potatoes as opposed to the canned? Seems with everything mixed maybe it wouldn't matter.
