Courageous, graceful, stylish, intelligent, her real life was more filled with exacting survival dramas than her movies. A credit to her sex during a constrictive time, Cheers to you Hedy, wherever you are!
As a young boy,I used to sneak out of bed after midnight & watch The Late, Late show,& when I saw Hedy Lamarr in "Samson & Dehlia,"puberty struck me like a crash car dummy hitting a brick wall! Many people don't know she co-created a 'spread spectrum device' that was a new kind of guidance system for torpedos in WW2,used today in cellphones & communications for the Internet. It is stated that she was the most beautiful lady in films the world has ever known. I couldn't agree more. Thanks Hedy. :-0
"A glamorous magazine editor in Manhattan is accused of a murder she says she didn't commit.."
Isn't it awkward to write things in the description that happens only in the second part of the movie? It just ruins the whole experience. Next time you write the name of the murderer?
Yay! so good. That's hollywood for you. the high point for me was when she saw "millionaire murdered" in the paper - i screamed and threw my plate of cheese and crackers against the wall. a mess afterward is always an indication of a good movie!
btw, i really miss movies with CHARACTERS with PSYCHOLOGICAL differences more profound than "good guy, bad guy". characters with meat on them. woo hoo.
I love watching old movies. This was the time when they still told stories and it wasn't all about sex and violence. When they didn't make movies based on the same tired script. All they do now is rewrite the small details, the stories are all the same.

Very enjoyable film from 1947. Margaret Hamilton (from The Wizard of Oz) has a small but memorable role. John Loder, the man who plays Felix Courtland, was married to star Hedy Lamarr from 1943-1947.
Beulah Bondi is in this! The lady who played the Wicked Witch in Oz! 28:27 et seq!

Governor William J. Le Petomane: "Thank you, Hedy, thank you."
Hedley Lamarr: "It's not *Hedy*, it's *Hedley*. Hedley Lamarr. "
Governor William J. Le Petomane: "What the hell are you worried about? This is 1874. You'll be able to sue *her*."

I love Hedy Lamarr.
11:20 I didn't see that coming. Maybe because the movie is from 1947.

I just love how they emphasize their Hungarian heritage by having her in clothes that remind me of Hungarian folk dresses. The details!
