I agree, if the tomatoes producing companies do not take care of the quality issues, why blame the workers which are treated as modern day slaves?. They deserve better sanitation and wages to improve the product, don't you know that they get pay in some cases as little as a dollar per box of tomatoes they pick up?. Farms and distributors sell the cheap tomatoes because they reduce the cost to supermarkets, fast food, restaurants & retailers. You get what you pay for, always remember that.

1) buying cheaper agriculture products from 3rd world countries where standards of hygiene, pesticides, handling, and transport are lacking at best.

2) allowing illegal immigrants, basically slave labor, into the USA to "pick" the crops (and sort, transport, fish for, prepare,&cook the product) without proper health screens, documentation or even sanitary facilities in which to defecate, wash,or sleep. Guess what is on your food now?

Techinically you're in violation of the LAW of those countries if you visited "43 countries" and never had vaccinations for Yellow Fever, etc (at least if you were in parts of Africa and Asia where certain vaccinations are necessary for proper visas and entry.) Get your vaccinations and take precautions when travelling lest you contract, or spread, diseases. It is very simple to find out what vaccinations or outbreaks exist.
