  • Dale, IMHO one of the best songs ever for the guitar. I believe it was first played on guitar. You certainly have a beautiful arrangement here and that Collings rings so well- due to the man behind it. Full of soul. Be well you and your family- enjoy the holidays and the new year. bill & paula

  • Very very nice playing. For those interested, this arrangement was in Fingerstyle Magazine a number of years ago, and was done by Tom Gannaway. I put a Power Tab version up on acoustic power dot com a few years back in the E to J section. Look for Silent Night. Enjoy.

  • Beautiful. A little history/legend about Silent Night: 80 years ago the carol "Stille Nacht! Heilige Nacht" was heard for the first time in a village church in Oberndorf, Austria. The congregation at that Midnight Mass in St. Nicholas Church listened as the voices of the assistant pastor, Fr. Joseph Mohr, and the choir director, Franz Xaver Gruber, rang through the church to the accompaniment of Fr. Mohr's guitar.

  • Great post! Merry Christmas - dale.

    Thanks a bunch.

  • Beautiful, a question, do you love all your OM's equally?

  • I suppose if I had to have just one this guitar would be it - what a horriable thought! Thanks so much for watching, dale.

  • Very nice performance of my arrangement. The capo is a nice touch, making it more buoyant!

The harmonics are called artificial harmonics, and were popularized by Canadian jazz fingertylist Lenny Breau, among others.

I did this arrangement while working for John August Music as Editor for Fingerstyle Guitar Magazine back in '97 - '99.

    Again, nice job!

  • What a thrill and honor to have your kind comments - thanks so much! I loved your arrangement from the 1st time I heard it and still enjoy playing it as much as ever. Thank you for sharing your music with so many - I hope all is well for you these days! A fan, dale.
