  • the guy is like o.o

  • that was great! thanks so much for the tutorial!

  • The sticks I'm using in the beginning are MAC Foundation Sticks, however I just checked their site & I think that they are now discontinued! BOO! I loved them! In place of those you can use any pale foundation to lighten up your skin.

  • Hi I was wondering what are those sticks your using in the beginning of the video?

If you can answer as soon as you can please I need to buy it for tomorrow =)

  • Where did you get the make-up kit & brushes?? My dad is being a doucher & WON'T help me with my costume AT ALL.

  • @TheSmozification I am a professional makeup artist so all the supplies I just have. Most of which are from MAC Cosmetics, but you don't have to use an expensive brand. What's important are the colors used. So just find similar colors at the drugstore!

  • You move fast :P

  • HELP! what can i use if i dont have brushes?? how can i apply the make up?¡? thank you!

  • @eLa160392 That's a good question....You can def try using your fingers and Q-tips but I honestly don't think it will turn out as good as if you were to get some cheap brushes from Target.

  • @makeupbyleah thank you very much :)

  • Thank you - awesomely awesome video. Just tried it out for my halloween costume on the weekend xx

  • @carolinejones656 Thanks! Glad to be of help!

  • Are u just using regular make up or that grease/paint make up u get at party city?

  • @23nikerocks I used "regular" makeup, NOT the horrible cheap grease makeup from the Halloween aisle at Walgreen's.

  • lmao at this dude face

  • Guy looks like Tommy Dreamer.

  • This year for Halloween i got hired by a haunted house.

    They said i won't need a mask. :(

  • im going to be a zombie for a halloween party this should work out great can a buy a kit and just use that for the makeup?

  • @dreamsofmylove yeah you can just use a kit, as long as there are the correct colors in it. Have fun!

  • hey my name is leah too!!! :D

  • I would imagine this to be extremely relaxing. Though I love getting a hair cut...

  • Looks like he's dying hahaha I love how his face goes O_O *insert slight twitching here*

  • he's just creepily STARING at the camera wtffffffffffffff

  • "Tap-a Tap-a Tap-a Tap-a" Hehe:D I Loved How You Said That:P

Thank You Very Much I'm Use This Make-Up Idea For A Short Film(:

  • @Chicka256 LOL I am so glad SOMEONE got my tap-a reference!

  • that guy was already undead. he's lifeless... :/

  • Excellent! I'm gonna do this and won't have to worry about latex prosthetics peeling off before the end of the night!

  • I wish I'd watched this before I bought this crappy Halloween makeup.

  • I like turtles

  • I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!(ZOMBIE ARE REAL RIGHT?)

  • He doesent look to happy, he is like: ZOMG! SHE IS GOING TI ZOMBIE ME! D:

  • 3:00 his facial expression = LOL! xD

  • Awesome tips - should've looked at this before we did our vid!

  • That's so professional. Thanks, now I know what i'll be for Halloween.

  • I think this should be easy enough for me thx for the video. Will this make up also work as a zest zombie female nurse? I am keeping my goatee my facial structure is similar to your friends there. Any tips and pointers are greatly appriciated along with a list of products?? I think I've got everything written down ...

  • 2:00 why is he startin to breathe really heavy & his eyes are getting wide...LOLS! it like hes scared of what the outcome will be :D

  • I love this... so easy to do and I have all the colors and brushes in my make-up stash already! I'm so excited I'm having a zombie party this year! I'm going to add a few special effects too!

  • Leah, Thanks for the great video! I've been using sponges, but your great brush work is inspiring. Question: What is the best way to clean the brushes afterward?

  • @HareDeLune Thanks & you're welcome! I use a solvent type brush cleanser from Cinema Secrets. But you can also MAC brush cleanser, it takes a bit more work but it's alot less expensive and more readily available. Another option is shampoo, just use very little!

  • 0:00-0:04 " Ahhh! We've got twitcher!" xD Ahh...Dawn of the Dead...

  • I loved it, you're a BIG help!!! Thank you!

  • nice video but This is a very easy makeup

a little boring without special effects

    View my zombie makeup

    and see the difference

    have fun with makeup

    grtz X...

  • @MrfrankieD I fully understand where you're coming from. When I made this tutorial I wanted to gear it towards the non-pro MUA so I kept special effects makeup/prosthetics out of the mix. I was just so tired of going out for Halloween and seeing TERRIBLE amateur zombie makeup, so I hopefully helped some people out by showing them how simple it can be to do a decent zombie! =)

  • @makeupbyleah oké I'm from belgium a small country

but the video is not bad eh

the basic make-up is very good

sorry my English is not so good sometimes ;-)

    grtz

  • @makeupbyleah thanks for this vid, cos i was trying to find a quick last minute look i can do on friend without having to go out and buy products i dont already have.

  • I dont like gory zombies, pale ones are just fine.Very good tutorial,at least i can understand speech.

  • you're truly talented, awesome makeup, 5 stars from me. looking forward to seeing u do more videos.

  • are zombies real?

  • @remix111able : Of course zombies are real.....the Zombie Apocalypse is coming 12/12/12! MUAHAHAHAHAA

  • i wish....

  • @makeupbyleah

    If you're talking about doomsday, that's 12/21/12 :D

  • aww im no expert but: "the wonders of cosmetics"

  • he face looks like he actually dying, lol. this is great.

  • Thank you so much!

This really helped me out....my boyfriend is reluctantly going as a zombie this year due to lack of money-and I have all this make up plus lots of fake blood.

Hopefully because of this I'll be able to make him a very happy zombie

    =]

  • purple! Good tip.

  • That is fantastic! I can't wait to use some of these tips! Thanks for a great video!

  • Thanks a bunch for the info. I watched this last night and made up my daughter and her friend this afternoon for a "First Annual Zombie Walk" in support of a local charity. Over 300 zombies took part and my daughter and her friend won 1st and 2nd place as "best zombies". Thanks again!

  • kewl

  • Where can I find a make up kit similar to the make up used?

  • thanks this is great :)

  • this is brilliant! I've been looking for a tutorial using just make up for a while because i can't use latex, definately be using this for my friend's halloween party :D

  • This is beautiful. I especially like the dark purple and pink around the eyes as opposed to the straight up dark grey or black that people often use when applying zombie makeup.

  • yes!

finally someone shows how its done and has the explanation why the zombies look that way!

    5 stars fer sure!

  • Hey! My name is Leah too (:

In my high school we're doing a fake wedding for photography class and the theme is 'Undead'. I happen to be the bride and i'm totally going to use your advice, this guy looks awesome! (:

  • looks pretty cool!

  • This is fantastic, where can I get some of these supplies?

  • thanks for the comp! I have listed the exact products in a reply previously, all of them can be purchased at most major department stores. Or online, you can get anything online!

  • I wanna know how to do make up for a Hunter from Left 4 Dead, it seems easy but im really not sure what to do lol anyone have any tips?

  • thanx for the awesome comment! I'm not sure of what the character looks like that you're referring to. So, I need to do a bit of research on that and I promise I will get back to you with my suggestions!

  • I would say, do the same whole, "Make the face pale and stuff" type make up. Take some fake blood, put it around your lips, and make some tasty fake blood (corn syrup, red food coloring, chocolate syrup) and add that to your teeth. Then make the whole black eye look. Get a blue hoody, fake blood everywhere on it. ;)

  • Haha I'm going as a L4D witch, I love the game. The Hunter should be fairly easy to do since most of the face is covered by his black hoodie. I would just do a face effect like this one, maybe a little more blue-ish. Then just a get a black hoodie and some baggy jeans and black tennis shoes. You can also get claws online.

  • I'm going as the Left 4 Dead which; love that game. The hunter should be fairly easy to do since most of his face is covered by his hoodie. Do a face effect like on this video but maybe with more shades of blue. Now just get an old black hoodie, baggy jeans, black street shoes and maybe even some claws you can buy online.

  • Don't forget the duct tape

  • excellent presentation. To finish the look I would add a tattered men's suit. Perhaps something he was burried in. I prefer basic black but any color will do.

  • OMG! I totally agree with you! :) like the zombies in Michael Jackson's Thriller video!

  • I watched several videos on this topic and yours is by far the best. It looks closest to what a real corpse looks like. The only other sugestion is that decomposition usually results in some unattractive texturing of the skin. Often the skin detaches from the flesh and bones in pieces. Your corpse looks a bit smooth. but the make-up is awsome. I was thinking I would try some ot the latex skin I have seen available. I understand you can apply the makeup to it for blending.

  • He could always be a virus infected zombie, meaning he hasn't had time to decompose yet.

  • he looks dead already!!! without the make up :D

  • 1:57 he looks horrified LMAO

  • awesome! i like this vid a lot! i love make up and dressing up... i work at a costume shop! teehee! =)

  • what kind of makeup is used to get the look?

is there a way to get a list

  • That was really helpful, thanks! I'm making up some zombies for the first time on Saturday, and you gave me some ideas.

  • he looks pained

  • well, he IS a zombie

  • Lol, begining where he is jiggling, laughed so hard.but thats not the reason THAT ZOMBIE SCARED MY SISTER. THANK YOU VARY MUCH LOL XD

  • BRAAAAAAIN!

  • great idea for those who cant find latex. red did look like a rash though

  • can you give show me a video to make it easy

  • AWESOME

  • haha his face when hes doing it!

  • What kind of makeup did she start with as a base for the paleness?

  • haha me and my friends are having a zombie party this halloween... there's going to be about 7 of us plus some other people.. soo i better start learning!! HAHA!!

  • nice job, but i know if i tried that id end up looking like a clown more than anything.

  • this would be great WITH the latex techniques, you could easily look that up and combine.

  • awesome! thanks!

  • Looks great!!Thanks for showing us how.

  • I think he has a twitching problem ^-^

  • holy shoot!!!! this girl has tremendous talent!

  • im going to do that for holloween [=

  • that dude is so fucking scary!

  • he looks scared.

  • even though there was no latex involved i still enjoyed it simple but affective good stuff

  • lol this guy is so intense

  • that was a great video

i worked for mac for almost 6 years too, and i'll never be able to use up all my makeup!

    good job- do more!!!

  • 2 things, 1, my god he was really hamming it up for the camera lol, 2 holy shit! you were using mac and other expensive brands for this!?! you should have saved those for special occasions, and used theatrical makeup like bennye, kryoline, or mehron, they are much cheaper, and much better suited to dramatic/horror makeups.

  • thanks for the comment. In regards to me using expensive products, I worked for MAC for five years. So, with that in mind most of it was FREE, or dirt cheap due to my 60% discount, which I do miss!

  • Here in the UK we get so little of stuff like this in costume shops or halloween specialists, its kind of a shame since i love the zombie genre. The most we get is fake blood, latex and fake skin, most of the time we have shitty masks

  • sweet, i'd love to have a discount on makeup lol

  • What about the ears and lower neck? It looks sort of odd with just the face zombified.

  • Yes, I can understand how that looks a bit off. Basically there were technical difficulties that prohibited me from giving some zombie love to the ears and the neck. :( I do however know that those areas shouldn't be neglected in order to complete the look.

  • OMG LOL tht guy was acting weired durin the application.u truly rock..i loved it

  • as well... remember that the eyelashes will take a lot of time. work with brown eyeliners for those. try to cover that area up because on the video the eyelashes on the bottom and top are visible clean. darken under the nose and pull out the mustache or goatee after finishing the makeup. this gives it a realistic look of just skin decay and not the hair... yet

  • if the guy is in the actual stages of decay. id suggest using non powders. more painted makeup. alcohol based ones are alright and allow the actor to sweat through. for the eyes, utilize browns and maroons remember that a bruise covers the eyes. ill reply to this with a video so that you may see some of the other work i have done.

  • leah... if your using powders... remember if the zombie is going to be running or doing alot of walking o movement... he is going to sweat... and his ears and upper chest towards the collar bone were left out other than that...

a dead body begins to darken with the decay comming in. depending on how recent the body is...

  • I'd love to take requests for Makeup Application Videos! From the simplest (how to apply fake lashes) to the complex. Let me know what you want to learn and we'll make it happen!

  • great video - :) can you give a list of colours you used?

  • The colors I used are:

Face: MAC Studio Stick Found. NC15, Phys's Form. Cover Green Conc. Stick, MAC PRO White Full Cov. Found., MAC PRO Hazy Lavendar Studio Fix.
