  • we want a good dude testing a good car

  • boxy aerodynamic?

  • why let someone who barely knows anything about the car to review it.. *sigh*

  • The B gear is only useful when going down long steep grades. Because the Toyota normally has regenerative braking, it is possible to completely charge the battery if you brake a lot down a long steep hill. Once the battery is fully charged, the regenerative brakes don't work as well. Circumvent this by using engine braking...

  • ohhh thank u for ur description about the B gear.. i been wonder about it weeks ago after i got ma 2009 camry hybrid...!! anyway have u ever heard any problem about the Hybrid thing? will the battery get problem or something?

  • I have read about some problems regarding the Hybrid technology -- like the battery kicking in and out at highway speeds making the car feel jerky -- but I haven't experienced them myself. The battery itself is warrantied for 8 years, so expect it should be ok.

  • oh yeah... i hope that m not gonna have problem wit it.. coz i just got it for city run...

  • I like the way Antenox puts things. I know that roja545 doesn't well understand what Antenox is saying. Especially since Antenox puts things in a very persuasive way. I've been in a Camry and I agree that it is a very good car. I guess it does take someone with a little brain to figure out that the Camry is a good vehicle, or maybe it doesn't.

  • i would assume the "b" gear is used as a braking since the transmission is a cvt, you probably have to "tell" the car that you actually want it to slow down just like in a normal automatic transmission.

  • huh? 2.2 L? isn`t it an 2,4?

  • the only thing I do like about it, is the way it looks.

  • I've been driving this car for about a year now. 97 percent of the time, the car's power is very weak. On comfort I would give it a 7 out of 10. I get about 33 miles to the gallon (very conservative driving). If you like driving, then I would not recommend this vehicle at all! Anything else is better!!!

  • If you love driving, then the LAST car you should buy is a vanilla family car brand like the Camry in the first place.

I average 40 miles per gallon driving 70mph on the freeway, 40mph or lower in city driving. I rarely get below 38mpg, and NEVER get below 35mpg. The only way I see anyone getting lower than 35mpg on the Camry Hybrid is if they're rabbit-starting in city driving, or constantly trying to close the distance between themselves and the car in front of them the way I used to.

  • Your mileage also drops if you're driving in such a way that the engine stays on all the time in city driving. You may think you're driving conservatively, but if you can feel that engine running while driving in the city, then you're driving too fast or too impatiently. Either that or your batteries are nearly depleted.

  • My dad bought this car from Fremont, California Toyota. He drove it a couple of weeks to work at a shopping center, & it was getting scratched up, so he gave me the car to drive (he took my old car), & he sometimes drives it on his days off (we live close by). I don't give a shit what you get on your car, but I average 33 miles to the gallon--I've never gotten a ticket from a cop in my life, only 2 parking tickets (since 1996).

  • I never said you were driving fast. I said you were driving *with the engine on too often*. As in stepping on the gas too often and letting the motor run when it shouldn't.

Also, I don't care if you think it's "weak," b/c it isn't. It has 192hp (the Altima Hybrid has 198hp). It only feels weak b/c the 4-cyl always runs at its highest gear, b/c of the CVT. You're just not used to driving a hybrid. The Altima Hybrid will also "feel weak" b/c it also uses a Toyota hybrid engine.

  • Also, hybrid mileage depends a LOT on how you drive, not how fast you drive. So if you do rapid starts/stops and if you never let the engine go into E-mode by not letting go of the accelerator, of course you'll get shit mileage.

BTW, I've read the comparisons. The Altima is "more fun" to drive, but like I said, if you were looking for a fun car to drive, why the fuck would you buy a Camry? Besides, the Camry makes it a hell of a lot easier to monitor your car's performance numbers.

  • "stepping on the gas too often, and letting the motor run when it shouldn't" R you a physics professor? maybe you think everyone's a fucking retard, & you're the only genius left. "the altima hybrid will also feel weak b/c it also uses a toyota hybrid engine" & then you say you've read the comparisons & "the altima is more fun to drive"

  • A week after we first bought it, it was so weak that we took it back to the dealership to ask them if there was anything wrong with it, but they told us that this is the way hybrids are. A guy from the dealership drove it & said it's perfectly fine. Plus if anyone has any doubts...then look up some comparisons between this piece of shit car & the new Nissan Altima Hybrid!!

  • this pollutes MORE then the 2007 ford explorer v6

(fact: it has a higher emissions count, not due to its better MPG but because of its muffler system and lack of filtering out pollution)

  • A fuck off idiot. America doesn't belong in the middle east anyway. The only reason you are there is to secure oil. Greedy SUV driving fucks.

  • Tell me how good a deal are we getting spending the HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS over there if it was just to get oil? We would have been 100x better of spending the money to just buy it. It's not about us getting oil. It's about maintaining some sort of stability, tenuous as it may be. Thinking. Try it.

    Now, back to the camry.

  • But more than that, dealers are pushing you to buy it with very questionable "deals".

Where did quality go? When it was japanese made I liked toyota very much.

  • Exterior rubber insulation is hastely put so it looks like it does not hold in places.

  • I've test driven one of these camrys. Believe me - they look and feel cheap made. Since toyoda began vehicle assembly in USA - quality dropped. Buttons and controls feel like flimsy and really cheap plastic.

  • where's the fucking navi.

  • Thats an option

  • Guy needed to go home an get his retirement check sit back an watch the price is right....

  • Very nice review!!!

  • Where is Clarkson when you need him.

  • There's a 'B' for braking that kind of 'BREAKS' the car!

haha!!! Still love the Camry Hybrid. I just got one today..loaded.

  • lol, an old man getting a bit of wheel spin, crap car however

  • Anything made by Toyota is extreem quailty

  • white trash girls fag

  • tru dat!!

  • this is what you get when you have your granda review a modern car. 2007 Camry SE all the way baby!

  • Incredible car, LAME test driver. Who is this guy? BEAT IT!

  • Hey, that's my Uncle! How did he get out of the hospital? He was still in a coma last I saw him. Shit!!!

  • ROFLMAO!! the "Boxy" prius? is the dude blind, and stupid? "B" mode is like downshifting an auto to 3,2, or 1. It's for driving down a mountain, or steep grade, uses more regenerative breaking, as well as downshifting the CVT transmission which never happens unless in B mode, for economical reasons. Hafta remember this guy is probly trying to be nice, and he's probably just doing it for fun, or volunteer. he probably isn't paid..

  • I agree with both of you in this matter, this fool has no clue what hes talking about, i dont know why they alow him to work for videotestdrive.com.

  • The driver is a clown.

    The gasoline engine is a 2.4 not a 2.2

And as for that "Braking gear"."It brakes the whole car instead of using the brakes...probably some gimmick technology". Just cuz you are clueless as to what it is, doesn't make it a gimmick....FOOL

  • Oh My God, I'm thing the same thing. Hasn't he read the engine list. And the "B" or the "Brake" is for when you come to a stop and it keep the car "Braked" Its used for the drive to rest his or her foot. Also the climate control isn't Plasma Cluster, the Plasma Cluster is for the air filltration.
