  • I would love to speak with this man. Everything he says coincides perfectly with the answers I have arrived at explaining experiences I have had while deep in hallucinogenic meditation. Every person can become aware of what he is talking about.

  • Amazing.. I am preparing to recognize my and our consciousness to finally leap/ reach to our higher quantum self.

  • this guy is boss as fuck

  • It's like putting my experiences down on a piece of paper.

I get pretty excited to see this kind of perception growing, as it can save the world. For it is totally true when he says that all those bad aspects of a person just start to dissolve. There lies danger in that as well, specially because it's something so good, that almost does not need to be true.

I get really confused because I can't really say if it is something real or not, even though I have experienced it.

  • wow. this is by far the most interesting thing iv watched in years...if not ever. i love this video because when tripping super hard on acid i had very similar thoughts about what consciousness is. the most eye opening thing about all this was when he said how the ego and the one-ness need eachother and it cannot exist anyother way. its good to see spirituality and science finally getting along!

  • so the statements: One is one, all is all, all is one and one is all are all true! WOW

  • Fantastic and straightforward. Thank you so much amit

  • The one point that these types of streams do not address is the paradox of material/matter existing independent of observation. The answer that Q-Mechanics has ALWAYS had to take as a given is that there is an Ultimate Observer of our "material" and individually observable Universe. The argument for a objective material existence is countered by the premise of the Ultimate Observer. UO amkes the Universe "material." This is a position maintained by most all Physicists.

  • @esoterro I guess there's also order within the chaos of consciousness and observation...Otherwise life would be a total mess. . .Of course many things exist that are yet to be observed by us (and any conscious being for that matter) but ultimately, it's the observer that will define and explore the nature of all things. I think Order and Chaos co-exist in our reality...

  • @Lollitsa It surely seems possible. Another issue is the term Conscious Observation. Q-Mech shows that the observation does not necessarily have to come from a "conscious being" or accepted lifeform. Anything that has mass can qualify as an Observer. A meteor passing across a skyscape of stars and heavenly bodies will, by definition, "observe" that skyscape. The mere presence of an object of mass will qualify. Light (photons) do not qualify, as they have no mass.

  • @Lollitsa And, for me, the irony lies in the massless photons. By narrow definition, photons/light would NOT have the capability of observation. Yet, without light we (lifeforms with consciousness) would be unable to visually observe anything. Universe, always with the paradox.....

  • I'm sorry but this is a hard pill to swallow, so many paradoxes, just makes no sense really.

  • @NathBonn Everything dat u C, feel, hear n smell all come from inside u; its all in ur mind.

  • @WazDDR

Oh yes ofc, I know that, but how do we explain us all seeing the same thing, the physical world exists so how can our consciousness create it separately, we would all how to have the same thought process.

  • @NathBonn its like electricity... wen electricity is in a bulb it becomes the bulb, wen it is in the computer it becomes the computer but in fact it is electricity (jus like consciousness r soul watever u like 2 call it)... it functions according 2 where it held at n therefore its a sleep r lost... dats y human form is very important... it is the only form one can find out the truth (human form is the most evolved form).

  • I believe when we die, we make a quantum leap to a parallel reality in which you didn't die, and this continues every time you die in a universe.

  • bogus

  • If right angles have such actions in space, then so shouldn't they in time hence, when we are at right angles on a timeline relative to death, we should expierence signs of our death.

  • all true.

  • I love how psychedelics aren't mentioned at all.

  • you think he would include a part of the speach about that haha

  • @FeelOfFriction those gives you answers, dont they??

  • @yari13

    Possibly.

  • @FeelOfFriction Some peeps need a psychedlic to visit spirit world and see its real.

Some do not.. Some find out the hard way, some do not.

    =)

I wouldnt suggest them, if you wish spirit guidance it would not require such things but it is a way to see that spirit is out there..

There are other ways also, thats all.. =)

  • @FeelOfFriction haha, exactly!

  • I have a theory, what if this world was a real world not just perception. and people were real people and money and cars we see daily are also real, and we really go to work the morning, and no parallel universe, just a solid ours.... : )

  • That's defiantly not real lol! What if my toast wanted to eat me for breakfast? If what you say is true i'm a gonner. I'm just playing. I'm not trying to be mean. Life is what you make it. If you want your theory to be true it will be to you. Everyone has their own truth/reality. Your intitled as much as the ones that enjoy QP. LOVE!

  • @hollybird54321 Toast does not have a consciousness, so it is not included in the wholeness of consciousness.

  • Thank you for taking the time to post Amit's full interview. I'm experiencing what Alan Watts referred to as a cosmic awakening. It has made the 35th year of my life, the best one so far! I've seen this interview before, but it now resonates with a deep, more powerful & profound meaning to me.

  • Very very interesting !!! thanks for posting !!!

  • great videos!

  • the problem here is however, to define perception and sensory systems... modern science is now toying with that like a child plays with legos.

    we will grow up.

  • I think consciousness is exactly the same kind of illusion that color is--a completely artificial thing invented by a mind to represent itself, like color stands for the differences in signals generated from cone cells in the fovea, consciousness helps us keep the distinction between what we label as in us and part of us from what we label as not part of us, but outside and separate.

  • consciousness does not come from the mind.

  • Does this mean all animals are unconscious or that some souls have to make due with lower forms of life to drive around?

  • The comments have been just crazy, I have never heard a better dissusion of issues pertaining to Quantum physics that I have just. Nor a better unifacation of Eastern Indian, Buddist, and Christian jargon. I have many questions and possibly many things to add, simply because of experiences of a transcentental nature that are somewhat unique. And confirm everthing as possitively correct in this presentation by Amit Goswami.

  • I couldn't make heads or tails of it, past what is already obvious: Life exists because it has en emergent phenomenon--consciousness. Like a cup has an emergent phenomenon: used properly it can hold a liquid. Consciousness, used properly, has an emergent property of it's own: it can do a better job of connecting the present to the future than causality alone. This guy isn't saying anything more than what I just summarized in a few sentences. He's sophistry city.

  • Comment removed

  • "Actually, we are seeing a race to be the first to explain the mechanisms of consciousness that must be employed to make the potential actual." What does that sentence mean? There is a race to create software that convinces us it is conscious? Why say it in such an awkward way? Yes there is. Same thing with the next sentence, what are you trying to say? We have lots of information about the brain but few paradigms that tie it all together? Yes, that's true. Like it was before QED in physics.

  • I mean the potential in realizing quantum consciousness. Not just conceptualize what it may be like to view the world and all matter as physical particals and material energy but to actually see it. With part of your being that has of yet to be discovered. It is as much self discovery as anything else. What is required is meditation along with consciousness focusing. Along with a format of specific information that you must keep in mind as you go on this exploration. If you can stop your hrt

  • I guess I just didn't take the graphics in the Matrix movies that seriously. I do realize we can't see the reality we live in, but only the one created in our minds to model it. I try to understand what I can about it, but I think that means trying to not let what I want it to be influence what I can objectively deduce or discover about it. You seem to take the opposite approach--reckoning that you're perfectly designed to know anything potentially, you just need to allow it to happen. But why?

  • neandertal could subconsiouslly comunicat like a group of ants or a wave at a football game. that is what we are seeking. the sooner we can become whole the sooner we have peace!!! peace also can be given as a gift. if you dont believe me than why did you feel peace when you simply read the word? what happend was you "created" some peace from within yourself! MY PEACE TRAVELED FROM MY CONSIOUSNESS THROUGH MATERIAL "WORLD" AND INTO YOUR CONSIOUSNESS. WE WERE ONESELF FOR MICROSECOND. PEACE TO ALL!

  • cavemen or Neandertal have known about this technology for thousands of years! we can tap into the same wholeness but the particals that make our physical world know that we are too afraid deep inside our consiousness almost like our consiousness knows it will be destroyed so it gives us fear and arguement as well as unwillingness to change our believes. that is how it is possible for religion to feel so right. though we know every religion "knows" it is correct. it is unconsiousness we fear!

  • One can only speculate how social consciousness is a physical thing. One day, social neuro-hypnotism or thought-communication might be a way to communicate freely... Without the need of words but with a truly essential meaning in what one would be expressing.

  • It is possible now to bring messages to other creatures with your mind and that the one who is being messaged is open for communication.

The only problem is that people do not interpretate the message on line of conscious of the communicator.

Thats why an object can be translated in feelings or shapes or words.

In the future we all have the same collective consciousness or we can adapt so we can interpretate correctly

  • well said!

  • I know what you mean. Apparently getting in touch with and mastering the universal god-consciousness-quantum self thingy can't help you speak clearly.

  • its just his accent ,.... i understand but then somethings he says i just cant

  • LOL

  • It's really not New-age bullshit.

  • I guess the problem is that in my reality, things like subatomic particles don't have consciousness. I realize that not having consciousness may be difficult for a creature that does have it to imagine. But it isn't hard for me. I just imagine that it has no awareness of itself at all. The LHC is going to end the lives of a lot of protons that have been around since the big bang, for example. But it's never even occurred to me that we should hold an elaborate funeral for each one of them.

  • LHC?

  • Large Hadron Collider.. a particle collider about to come online in Geneva.

  • I have questions about what Amit says, so I sympathize. Namely does he know the difference between consciousness and perception. Matter percieves, complex perception is consciousness, what complex life forms have.

Perception is just reciept of information and that info having an effect, and also vice versa..

  • I think subatomic particles and energy ( not enough known abt E) are affected by human consciouness which is not totally controlled by the ego.

I hear more ego in the comments of viewers than true self( soul).

LHC experiments are merely extension of our desire of materialistic exploration. I wish more scientists approach science with enelightened mind as Dr AG doing.

  • You are AWARE sir!!!!!

  • You really have trouble understanding even some things he says? Where did you learn English?

  • Does this guy ever address the problem his ideas now face with Lund University's proof of inward outward waves. I think Dr. Milo Wolf talks about this alot. It would seem this, resolving the split between reletivity and quantum mechanics, would paint a deterministic universe, but i have look too much into it yet. Just curious if he addressed it or not.

  • I believe that he addresses it in his book "God is Not Dead"

  • The problem is in not recognizing the fact that merely becoming aware of your consciousness isn't enough. It is only the starting point. If all it took was recognition of the presence of it, there would be many enlightened beings.

  • Imagine the example of light reflecting from objects and the casual relation with the patterns of electric activity inside my brain (vision). Additionaly some of these patterns are representations of other patterns that are also inside my brain(this is self awerness and a computer can be said to have this as well). Eventualy the process is completed when this leads to a physical responce that acts upon the exterior world.

  • Sorry I forgot to post this as a reply and i ended up double posting. Sorry!

  • It depends on how you interpret self-awareness. I would say that being aware of pain or color or meaning is not a capability that a computer could implement. It's only data in-data out. For example, being aware of one's own pain is part of being self-aware. However, starting the task manager in my computer does not make my computer aware of the running processes or what they mean. It is only the processing of information from a table. It could not understand the concept of existence.

  • That's exactly what I'm saying, if you define self awearness as a "mechanism that allows us to recheck our actions" that in itself does not explain the hard problem of consciousness.

You can describe it as the ability of a information processing machine to process information about it's own information processing activity (the analogy with human metacognition or metarepresentations). That in itself cannot explain experience. It could just as well happen wthout any experience being involved.

  • Also I don't think it makes a difference if you extend that to aditional information processing about context, like you say "the concept of existence". I don't see why a very complex computer can't do all that without any qualia being involved what so ever. Unless qualia is somehw a property of information processing in general, in wich case it still needs to be explained.

I still think this fals outside of classical physics

  • Sounds like a lot of wonderful wishful thinking. All self betrayal to achieve happiness.

All fine with me - but I don't care about being happy, I rather stick to verifiable truth. I do not think he can provide that - until he makes testable predictions based on this theory.

  • That's your opinion but maybe you have an explanation for consciousness that you think is more appropriate?

  • Like I said - it's a theory that makes no testable predictions. Thus me refusing it is not just "an opinion", it's the step every rational man should do. I can also base it on facts of life that contradict his points. For example hallucinations would become real.

Well, and when he starts to go into rebirth and all this, it just gets stupid.

I personally think that consciousness is nothing else than an evolutionary development that allows us to recheck our actions. No magic needed.

  • As far as conscious minds are concerned they could do anything just as well if they weren't conscious. So why would evolution bother with cousciousness in the first place?

Maybe you are not aware of the hard problem of consciousness but it has not found a materialistic solution. But you are free to believe it will and that is your opinion.

  • I'm not sure why you repeat the "opinion" stuff. It kinda devalues any discussion. It may be an opinion when I say "red is nicer than green", since I cant base it on logic. When I say "gravity pulls us down", then its not just an opinion, is it?

So if you have a good reason to say I'm wrong in thinking, then explain it. Don't just say "believe hat you want". I'm happy to change my mind if I hear good arguments.

(I'll answer your question in the next comment)

  • About what the use of consciousness is: We know that it is more of an afterthought. It happens after we take action or after we imagine action. Thus it allows us to rethink it - use the whole brain to evaluate and override the action if necessary. (Goleman explains that well in the Google talk)

I don't see any other brain function that can do this. I don't see a much further explanation needed. As much as I would love to be the creator of the universe - I don't think it really follows :D

  • "I personally think that consciousness is nothing else than an evolutionary development that allows us to recheck our actions. No magic needed. "

I am sorry but this is only one aspect of consciousness. You forget the hard problem, which is conscious experience or qualia. Nobody knows yet why we have it. So far there is no concensus. Whatever you believe about consciousness is incomplete. So to say that "I personally think that consciousness is nothing else than..." is a bit of an opinion!

  • You're looking for something that doesn't exist. It's like Dennet says - people don't like the easy explanation, because it isn't "real magic". Well the "real magic" is the one that doesn't exist.

  • I am sorry, so you tell me there is a concensus. Dennett figured it all out. Wow, Chalmers, Searle, Penrose and all the others that had a different opinion on the matter were all idiots then. Hurray! With that I can really sleep now!

  • There is never a final consensus, but I can tell you some things the majority of scientists of this field would agree to: Searle was wrong in most of what he said. Doesn't make him an idiot - the greatest scientists and philosophers of history were wrong (take Einstein).

Even a bigger majority could tell you that Goswami is wrong. He doesn't even address major problems like decoherence. Nor does he point out that quantum theory also leaves room for measuring devices to collapse the wavefunction.

  • It's worse than not having a consensus. Consciousness is in just as bad a shape as dark energy or non locality. Lots of interpretation for it. The only reason why more scientists accept a materialistic interpretation over any other is only because of the current trend of science to rely on materialism for anything. Personally, after 5 years of university in computer science it doesn't make sense to accept a theory that would grant computer consciousness. Because this is exactly what it means.

  • I agree. I think people often can't diferentiate between self awearnes and the hard problem of consciousnes. If consciousnes is just information processing than everything has to be conscious(especially computers wich process information about themselves as well). I'm surprised to find that most definitions of information imply a conscious observer, they describe what information means to the observer, so you can't explain consciousness as information processing.

  • An objective definition of information from the point of view of classical physics describes information as simply patterns of physical interaction changing the state of matter in their enviorment, further thransmitting this change, wich preserves the innitial pattern (to various degrees)and further afecting the formation of new patterns.

So there's a casual relation between external physical events and patterns of activity inside my brain.

    (continue in next comment)

  • Imagine the example of light reflecting from objects and the casual relation with the patterns of electric activity inside my brain (vision). Additionaly some of these patterns are representations of other patterns that are also inside my brain(this is self awerness and a computer can be said to have this as well). Eventualy the process is completed when this leads to a physical responce that acts upon the exterior world.

    Comment on this video

  • So what I'm saying is that information in the classical physics sense cannot explain the hard problem of consciousness (but probabily explains self awearness). It would mean that computers and car allarms and basicaly every physical event are all conscious.

  • What you have described is perception. This is the exchange of info. in matter.

Consciousness, or awareness, is just a complex form of perception that life forms have, because a life form is focussing all its perceptions to a personal agenda, i.e multiply, etc., thereby a sense of SELF. Where the line is drawn as to where perceptions are sufficiently complex is arbitrary.

Sentience is a consiousness with a sufficiently developed sense of imagination. Humanity is most developed in this sense.

  • @natmanprime

Seth/Jane Roberts' viewpoint is that everything has consciousness, even the smallest atom and molecule.

  • Um, who are Seth /Jane Roberts?

Anyway, their viewpoint has no evidence to support it, and doesn't make sense.

'a posteriori' and 'a priori', in other words.

  • I THINK what Seth has been trying to communicate, and I may not be able to put it into correct wording, is that subjective experience IS fact except we do not accept it as such. Until we do, such evidence obviously will not be accepted by science, so called. This example shows that science is selective as to what it considers evidence. By the way, have you read any of Jane Roberts' books? If you haven't, how can you make a judgment?

  • ok I repeat, who the hell are seth/jane roberts????

why didn't you answer that question the last time I asked it??

Why did you bring them up in the first place??

Why are you choosing me to tell their silly opinions to??

What example are you going on about??

I made a judgement on their alleged 'viewpoint', and no more. It is illogical based on known science, and known usage of words, and what I've said 4 months back, above.

Please answer those questions if you wish to respond to me at all.

  • Seth is a being, chanelled threw a woman named Jane Roberts i've read a little on them and i don't see anything wrong with what they say. I don't know what you guys are debating but i hope that helps. :)

  • Well, thank you for the information, but their opinion was nonsense. The debate is over my darling : )

  • its called google broski

  • what???

  • i would like to hang out and talk with that guy for a while. . . smoke

  • wonderful, maravilhoso!

  • Great lecture. Thanks for posting this. The reality of the Oneness of All is truly astounding, to anyone who has had a glimpse into that non-ordinary state of consciousness where the chatterbox mind is silent, where the filters of preconception and definition are removed, when the ego (construct of self) falls away from experience, and one is left stripped bare and bathed in the true reality of beingness. When the fortress falls, inside and outside are all just the One. Amazing.

  • good upload. !

  • It must be great knowing the deep mysteries about Consciousness and the universe like this guy.LOL.

  • original christian teachings mention all this.. although it is somewhat unclear in its explanations. if you are a fallen catholic then well done, as that is a false reprasentation as most religions are of their oiginal true teachings.

  • I've studied quantum physics and its intricacies for quite some time. Well, from a lay reader's POV anyway. Only now, after watching this series of videos, do I see the truly pertinent possibilities raised by subjects like wave particle theory and quantum entanglement. It never occurred to me that consciousness itself HAS to be tied to quantum physics in some way. As a fallen christian, this could prove useful in my search for an answer. ANY answer. Until now I've only found questions. Thanks.

  • great video! i agree with hanivideos, you have some beautifull videos about everything.

  • wonderful

  • love your videos, keep it up do5e! :)

  • this is krsna consciousness
