What is the core made of.. the part on top that connects the motor to the jug? Is it steel or plastic? i just had a very expensive blender go on me. I use it for smoothies daily. I put ice, raw milk, frozen fruits, powder from raw seeds that i grind beforehand in a coffee grinder. I had the bottom part that attaches to the glass jug just bust in three pieces so now my blade won't even turn anymore. I am willing to spend more if i know it won't bust on me

yea thanks. i just got an Oster blender instead $50 with all metal parts inside, it works like a dream, i can even throw seeds and nuts in my smoothies and it blends them smoothly

was it a blendtec? they are notorious for their jars breaking. i've seen vitamix jars from the 60s still intact.

i returned it. forgot the name. i now have an Oster 16 speed blender I got at Macy's that has a metal base and it works like a charm. No plastic to break at the base from overuse of the inside parts

I have a Blendtec with the defective jar. Actually it's the seal that is defective. It leaks the liquids into the bearing which causes the bearing to rust and seize up. Before seizing up however, whatever you are blending mixes with the grease from the bearing back into the jar, and YOU END UP UNKNOWINGLY DRINKING IT. YUK!

The whole jar has to be replaced, costing you around $70. This shouldn't happen I've never heard of the Vitamix doing this. I would get the Vitamix over the Blendtec any day

It's made if metal to metal gears. This is the machine used in restaurants it shouldn't be compared to your little home blenders. 3.7 input horsepower and 2.1 output. Average household blenders have 1/8 of a horsepower. You'll find these at Smoothie King, Jamba Juice etc.
