Yes, the Gimmes really did play a bar mitzvah - in Malibu, no less. The record is the best stuff from two sets; the kids name is Jonny Wixen, and apparently his dad is with a label or something. The family was in on the joke for sure - Jonny himself plays the drums on the two hidden tracks on the CD - but you can tell that most of the people there had no friggin' idea of what they were witnessing.

The very first thing that I ever heard from these guys was their version of Stairway from the same disc, and couldn't believe anyone had the nad to pull that off and be a bit humorous about it.
