  • This is just Great,Pure Americana, How could anyone not like this music

  • Thank you very much !!!

  • I haven't been keeping up my channel since YouTube (via the big record companies) deleted most of them but thanks for all the nice replies.

I wonder if you folks know that YouTube vids are downloadable. Since I can't post a link you'll have to google the term "youtube downloader". It's free and it converts the flv files to avi. I usually use a third party software (magic video converter) to change the avi files to mpeg. Check it out.

  • I love the beauty and joy on Paul's face as he sings this. What an amazingly beautiful song and video. Time has only improved the song and the way this great band performs it. :)

  • Thank you very much for uploading this video. I had some hearing loss recently and as it slowly returns I am able to enjoy this great performance. Just like the pleasure from great food or the feel of a woman in my arms, listening to these guys is a joy to my ears. Thanks

  • Yeah...video and audio are off sync

  • Love Paul Cotton and Poco. One of the great bands that never got their due.

  • Was George Grantham still performing with Poco in 2004? What happened to him was sad.

  • My God!!! They are lipsinking...who would have thought???

  • @Gatlun I really don't think they are lipsyncing here. I think the sound track is "off" from the video. If you watch the horn and slide guitar, it is all off from the sound track. whatdaya think?

  • The original studio version is also on Youtube and when I compare the two I am struck by just how great the live version sounds. Remember in the studio you have multiple takes, tracks, maybe over dubbing and all sorts of electronic tricks can be played. Their musicianship is truly awesome.

  • terrence is obviously a moron. Bet he's a Lady gaga fan.

  • This is such a classic music like this can never be written again

  • @Terence11111111111 you obviously have wasted your time listening to crap music, or just crap. What makes a good song is timeless, and has something special to say. Old burn outs? Well you should even be blessed to live to be there age, we ALL get older. You will be there God willing one day bucko

  • White cover. Just a few lines and a red dot for an eye to define that pony. Emotional axe murderer back in '78.

  • Wunderbar. Perfekt. Wer ist dieser "Poco"? Besser geht es nicht.

  • What is it about POCO that makes ya think about first/long ago romances? Such magic.

  • Thank you, I was thinking about a wonderful person from my past, and I thought of this song.

  • Man, what a great group. I have always liked Poco!

  • @Terence11111111111 Stick to watching movies. You obviously are lacking in musical taste. These guys have been awesome for a long time and still rock.

  • @robbey8985 Right on bro. Some people simply waste the air they are breathing. Oh my, I feel a song coming one.

  • They are going to be in Alton, IL at the Argosy Casino in June, I am going to go see them, can't related to a lot of the newer music, enough said.

  • One of my all time favorite bands. Hearing that song brings me back to 1978! Poco and their romantic songs. I miss them a lot!

  • me and my dad dance to this song

  • Damn I love listening to Rusty Young play pedal steel. What a great song.

  • Can ANYONE with ANY form of SANITY tell me WHY this incredibly talented group is not in the "Rock & Roll Hall of Fame". The Hall sucks.

  • @PawneeBill47 Good question... no good answer.

  • wow, watching the version when they played on Sold Gold in 82 and 2004. I love this song.

  • Awesome song! I remember driving over the Lake Pontchartrain causeway about midnight with a full moon shining over the waters on a clear night and that song came on the radio. I almost stopped the car to pay homage to God above. Beautiful memory.

  • What a pleasure. That old singer still has some pretty good pipes....

  • Aahhhh such a beautiful song! I'm stuck in morning town traffic in the rain and wish I could get out and dance to it!!

  • infowars.com People your time is running out. Life is beautiful but only if you protect it for you and yours.. again infowars . com

  • people that will argue over music . Great.... Well wake up to what the heck is going on around you . PISSED OVER A SONG? I N F O W A R S . C O M

  • Such good music.

  • Que hermosa musica, realmente bellos aquellos años, donde la musica no solo era interpretada con calidad sinó también con pasión!!!!!!

  • Poco is Proof enough that if you have Good Songs and Real Talent ? That Talent does not fade and the Music lasts a Lifetime. Thank You Poco for all of the Great Music these Many Years.

  • Such a great group...........................

  • don grantham back on drums !

  • paul cotton is poco's don felder.

  • this is from a live reunion dvd at the bellecourt theatre in nashville tn.

  • Ever been to a Cars concert.... I loved that band and it was horrible

  • @cpusftwre Well - you in your personal subjective opinion - thought it was horrible. What makes you right and someone who enjoyed attending a Cars concert wrong?

  • Yep, this a great band....

If you want more music... with a 'New Orleans Flavor'... check out.... A Change Is Gonna Come and Stand By Me... by Playing For Change Band...

    Thanks & PEACE!!!!

  • These are REAL musician's. Back when people cared about the little things. Everything now day's is so commercial. Point of refrence, I wish the sax player would have used an Alto. The Soprano is way to sharp.

  • These are REAL musician's. Back when people cared about the little things. Everything now day's is so commercial.

  • POCO,,,, Greatest American BAND of all TIIME......... RRHOF is a joke

  • GOOD POINT BOATMAN! That's what makes groups appealing in their own way, their uniqueness!

  • as good as it gets

  • music for adults!!!WOW these guys sound just as good as in the way back lol.

  • sweet

  • Great music

  • Rock on, I love it...............

  • This is one of those song that I said: This is me!

  • @15Y15F yes yes, this and some jerry rafferty

  • When all the lights go out and when I have reached the end of my journey I will take this song with me. Thank you Poco. This song is a eternal treaure.

  • So awesome to see good music lasts forever! It never dies! Not like the shoot'em up hoochie mamma crap of today! Thanks for putting this up!

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever..........

  • This brings back sooooo many memoriess....

  • Never forget some of our roots boys

  • Back in 68 I was sitting in the bar at the Troubadour when Linda Ronstadt poked her head through the curtains and said, very loudly, "Hey, you guys in the bar need to come in and hear this new band, Poco. They're awesome!"

I didn't listen. I may not have had the cash to buy a ticket. I don't remember. Anyway, I didn't go in.

I did see them once, live at another club on Melrose, on a double bill with John Fahey. They were great live, just like you see them in these videos.

    Ah, the old days.

  • @boatman1953 lol rock bands are like women...true..Music will never be like it was in the 70s nor will life.Ive been to over a hundred concerts & with about half that number of women and yes..I loved them all. Thanks for posting .This is one of the best songs to melt womens hearts.I used it many times....

  • INSIDE MY HEART ...UNCLE TONY!

  • nice song!

  • Great song. Brought back memories from the summers of my youth; cruisin' down Lake Shore Drive on warm summer night, "snuggling" on a blanket, watching the sun rise over Lake Michigan....

  • Comment removed

  • Love these guys. Paul Cotton and Rusty Young made this band!

  • The drummer looks like Michael J Fox... LOL

  • So very good!!....quiet middle part w/pedalsteel Oh yeah..Great vocals also...fantastic outro. This song has that odd ability to make you grin and sigh through out. There's not much more one can expect from a song from ANY era. Today marks 5 years since Katrina devastated New Orleans.

  • such a beautiful song ! thanks for posting

  • well said boatman.......

  • That's a band that doesn't step on each others toe's. fantastic !

  • That's a band that doesn't step on each others toe's. fantastic!

  • Mr. name droper, Yea...

Poco take's me back to young love day'z

  • please 2004 Rose Of Cimarron

  • That guy playing the soprano should have tuned. Sounds real flat..

  • Always good stuff form this group.

  • I saw Poco so many years ago. The musicians age (which makes me feel older) but the music is still so sweet. I've been a Poco fan since I heard Good Feelin To Know on Don Kirshner Rock Concert. Poco Forever.

  • Great school song from 79. I like this song alot.

  • Great stuff. I will sound like an old man but damn it, there isn't well crafted songs like this anymore.. Just darn washing machine beat with wanna beat talking over it.. Yo, right....

  • Great pedal steel work but I can't remember the player's name. Snooky Young ??? Anybody ??

  • @JoeGancher Rusty Young

  • This is the music I grew up with. I am blessed to have had music like this to remind me of my life and where I was and when. Thank you for posting this beautiful piece from one of the best bands around, ever!!!!

  • It was a great time in my live when this song came out. about 1980. I was banging some girl 10 yrs less my age. WOW! The vocal and music is exactly what I remember.

If only I was 30 years younger.

    soldierjack

  • Thanks for posting. Great live performance. Only problem, the audio is out of sync with the video - watch the drummer.. Bummer. Still, a great tune and video.

  • This is timeless music. So true Boatman. Especially enjoyed the Molly Hatchet / Outlaws tours. I have loved all of those bands and many more for different reasons..Just like my women.

  • Such a GREAT band. It was fortunate they took the time to do this concert for video. From what I read, George the drummer had a serious health problem not long after this. Never did hear if he recovered, but wishing him well. Did you know he played on Neil Young's first solo album?

Thanks for the download 'boatman". Cheers. EW

  • thank u so much boatman1953...THIS is new orleans.....

  • It sounds better everytime I hear it!!! What a great song!

  • Most under-appreciated band of all time? They've got my vote.

  • It might have been twenty-five years later but it was still magic. The free-style at the end was the best. Truthfully it looked like they were doing it for themselves. I'm just glad they shared. Awesome!! Thanks for posting this.

  • Wow

    Wow - beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! roque

  • Hot all those years ago...and still hot today!

  • The horn and slide guitar just talk to you in this song. No one writes music like this anymore. Maybe they just aren't able too.

  • @thegfactor2001 Amen to that.

  • @thegfactor2001 Believe it or not they still can and do. Its just that meaningful lyrics and talented musicians aren't popular with the majority of young people in recent years. How strange...

  • I love this song...I has this CD and listen to it daily! Such wonderful memories....:)

  • thanks for the upload.

You have brought sunshine to over 160 thousand souls

  • I thank the powers that be for POCO and all of you who remember them....

  • to gerry0021 - Poco performs about once a year at Wildwood Springs Lodge in Steelville, Missouri. The lodge has its own website.

  • Rusty Young is the most fantastic pedal steel player ever. Great touch to make this a really incredible song.

  • I would love to see Poco one more time. The best show I ever saw was when they were on the "From the Inside" tour at Carnegie Hall. The accoustic set was awesome.

  • What a great live version, sounds just like the original.

  • I had the honor of hearing this song live, in person just two days ago sailing the ocean blue. Paul has has gotten stronger as the years have gone by and still rocks. His friend from Illinois Speed Press, Kal David joined Paul for a very memorable voyage.

  • Wow, that must have been quite an experience, wish I had been there!

  • Being from N'awlins, this song just says it all. I was raised just a few miles from Lake Ponchatrain. I can put this song on and sit back and just feel myself being back down there. It's a N'awlins thing. Some people just don't understand. ;)

  • dear boatman, you're a man of great taste ! pure chickenskin this one ... Love Poco, love southern rock. Keep up the great work ! All the best from a dutch fan !

  • I wore this cassette out two or three times, I'm trying to wear the CD out, this is a classic album.

  • Great version of a timeless classic.

  • Sang this song to my children..when they were so very little..Now they are grown.

When they first listened to it now.

there like dad.. for some reason I know this song..Made me smile..some songs are just timeless. this is one of them.

  • I can dig it. Wish I could go back to the summer of 79........

  • Did anyone see them in Georgia back in October? How I wish i could have gone! LOVE 'EM!

  • Still one of my all time favorites! I like the song on CD, but this live version blows it away. Fantastic vocal and every instrument is played to perfection. Great performance.

  • @Frankiarmz You have great taste! My all-time favorite, too! Life was so sweet back when this came out. This song is awesome.

  • I post and receive similar comments on many songs from that wonderful time. Doobie Brothers singing "South City Midnight Lady", Al Stewart and "Year of the Cat", amazing songs that can't be touched by today's music. Yes, we were younger and life was more simple and carefree, but that music was great and still stands the test of time!

  • this is so great . Beautiful song, sung from the heart. Love Poco, love southerm rock. I'm an outlaws addict ever since there debut. Girl from Ohio can still produce tears for me....

  • 455Transam - So, we'll pass the peace pipe! And, we can all rock on! Share the Love. RoBabe1.

  • Oh , poor sensitive 455Transam! Did I hit a (small) nerve? And all this time I thought it was "soft rock". Not surprisingly Poco wasn't on the "payola" rotation. As for not knowing about rock -n-roll - I might know a little - maybe just a little - I was married to Harvey Dalton Arnold, (bass player for the Outlaws 1976-1980) for 25 years. Toured 3 continents, so many top shelf acts the Outlaws opened for - Who, Stones, Zeppelin, Floyd - so many who opened for the Outlaws - Van Halen, etc...et

  • And has shared the stage with EVERY SINGLE ACT that boatman1953 listed below except the Pointer sisters! I feel very honored to have been in the presence of these players on both a professional and often personal level! So, thanks boatman1953! and sorry kathleenandzoe for my "knee-jerk" negative reaction - you know what comedian Ron White says? "You can't fix stupid"!

  • @RoBabe1 THE OUTLAWS ARE AWESOME

  • I saw POCO in 1982 in New Haven, Ct. on a cold, snowy night at Toad's Place. To me that was a magical night. Paul Cotton & crew really lite up the stage, playing all the POCO songs I've continued to listen to after all these years! Rock on, guys!

    daver06441

  • I first heard Poco at the Denver Pop Festival at Mile High Stadium in June of 1969, two months before Woodstock. I fell in love with their sound right then and there. It really doesn't matter what label you put on their music, they are great musicians with a great sound (whatever lineup they had at the time). This is one of my favorite songs of theirs and of all time. That pedal steel and sax knock me out. I've probably listened to it 50 times since I discovered it. Thanks boatman1953.

  • Thank you for posting this great performance. What a peaceful timeout from the day to listen to such a great voice and instrumentals. I feel entertained and relaxed, thanks Poco.

  • Great music and they still sound good here!

  • I don't understand why you people are so fucking negative. We're talking about POCO...but this reunion didn't include Timothy B. Schmidt...too bad.

  • Comment removed

  • You guys can all argue til you're zonked out and it's still gonna be a matter of opinion. I've seen live concerts with Ted Nugent, The Who, Neil Young, Mahogany Rush, Heart, Little Feat, Poco, The Pointer Sisters, Aerosmith, Molly Hatchet, The Outlaws, etc... and a lot of shit I was too wasted to remember. The point is each and every one was great in their own way. Rock bands are like the women I've been with - I loved each and every one when I was with em.

  • @boatman1953 you got that right partner.........

  • @boatman1953 my vote is up ,.sorry my bad

  • @boatman1953 Ok, then you really only saw TWO bands then~~

  • @boatman1953 LOL!!!!!!!!!!

  • @boatman1953 Both of your comments are very well put and prove your point. I too have seen many concerts including some of those you have listed. Ted Nugent in San Diego 1977, The Who in San Diego 1977, The J. Geils Band in San Diego !977, Heart, The Beach Boys, Firefall and TKO at the Japan Jam outside Tokyo Japan 1978, 4x The Outlaws 1977,1978 in San Diego, 1983 at The Imperial Mid-Winter fair, and recently 2010 in Las Vegas, The 1983 US Festival in San Berdardino all 3 days and many more!

  • For live performances, this one's not bad. Sounds alot like the studio version. That's rare these days.

  • 455Transam - POP? Someone ought to pop you in the back of the head and knock some sense into you! Obviously - you are oblivious to your rock roots. Hey boatman1953 - thank you. Also - zonk42 - I caught these guys on tour with Firefall acoustic - I don't think it's a matter of who's opening for whom when we're talking legacy. These guys aren't in it for the money or their egos - bless their hearts - they just can't help it - they gotta play!!

  • i don't know how old you are ROBABE but maybe you remember a type of music called "Easy Listening" which is closely related to "Pop". Don't like the term "Pop" ok I'll give you "Easy Listening" but it sure as Hell ain't "Rock" no matter what you say!

  • ROBABE....Let me guess you think FIREFALL is Rock too don't you??

  • 455Transam - Listen, jackass - I think the genre we refer to as ROCK encompasses a vast array of styles, rhythms, tempos Yeah, rock can be more than head-banging, metal and volume that rips through you body & soul - I happen to like all that too. I'm just NOT so narrow minded.

  • 455Transam - if anything is/was ever subjective it's music. IMO rap and hip-hop are the lamest things to hit the music scene since time began. I see in your profile you've got Def Lepard and the Who vids. I was watching the headbangers metal show on VH1 some time ago and the Metal Heads trashed DL for being pop metal. It's all in the eye of the beholder. I think DL is great and I've seen the Who live in 1976 with Little Feat. Everyone has their own opinion. POCO is and does Rock.

  • DL IS "Pop Metal"!!! I still like it, and I'm not knocking POCO when I call it "Pop" or "Easy Listening" it is what it is........but it isn't "Rock" IMOP.

  • Saw them in 1968 at Forest Hills-

    no better vocal harmonies anywhere!

  • Simply the best

  • Very nicley done!

  • one of the best songs ever!

    thanx Paul, thanx Poco!

    thanx for this video

  • Awesome! We saw them at Bethel Woods, 2009. Only problem was, they were the so-called warm-up act for Loggins & Messina.

  • Messina was one of the origanal members of poco/no jim messina no poco

  • Poco is life.

  • Damn, this is awesome. These geezers rock!

  • C'mon man you can't call that ROCK.

It's good music but it ain't ROCK......more like POP.

  • Back in the 70's, this was considered 'crossover' between Country and Rock. Poco and the Eagles were Pioneers in that category. But they were carrying on a folk rock tradition that began even earlier with Buffalo Springfield and the Byrds, all very much considered rock

  • I'll give you "Easy Listening" but no matter what you say it sure as Hell isn't "Rock".

  • PUCK......The term "Back in the 70's" was "Easy Listening".

  • I can accept that term, 455 lol

  • Thank you all !!!

    Growing up with POCO

    Growing up with POCO !!!

as my father would say it best ...

    LISTEN !!!

It don't get any better then this !!!

AND THAT WAS 25 YEARS AGO......

    SEEMS LIKE YESTERDAY !!!

    TOM

  • Great lyrics, sound. I never have been to New Orleans but somehow I feel I've been there. Great vid Boatman1953.

  • Wow. Just great, great music.

  • How about that, great music, and beautiful lyrics that tell a story. If your own heart isn't stirred by this song, check and see if you have a pulse :)

  • really really smooth, they sound great

  • Man, what a song! Just gets better and better the longer it plays and the more I hear it. So smooth...

  • I had the pleasure of seeing Poco back in 1968 at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium-awesome then and now!

  • Just saw Poco, Pure Prairie League, and Firefall last night. It is unbelievable to sit there and watch these guys sound just as good as they did way back when. Maybe better! Bass player sounds like Don Henley. Then you can meet them all after the show!

  • This music sure stirs up great strong memories. I love it.

  • still as good as it used to be....

  • Wow, these guys still sound great!

  • Acoustic Poco will be in Woodbridge, NJ on Oct 21st, 2009 in an intimate 250 seat church on Main Street. Can't Wait!!! The series is "Music On Main Street" it's @ WoodbridgeArtsNJ

  • Right On! Why can't anyone create music like this anymore?

  • thats becos they broke the mold

hummingbird71iam probally just a little younger than these guys, they sure still sound great! They don'timprove their music, becos it already improved to perfection!

  • Thank you for sharing. I'd almost forgotten!

  • According their web site, they will be in Cedartown, ga., October 10th! 2 other groups will there also! Thinking about going, only 4 hours from us............it'd be worth it!

  • great song...................bring back lots of good memories! wish i could see them!!! BTW does anyone know who the guy is playing the clairnet? he's WOW!! THANKS BUNCHES for the posting of this!!! ggggggggggooooooooddddddddddd memories.................good times!

  • The horn player is Phil Kensey---same guy who played on the album cut of this years ago. A Brit---but we'll forgive him for that. See him mouth the words with Paul towards the end?

  • the horn player is phil kenzie... he also can be seen at a much younger age if you view al stewart's year of the cat

  • Wonderful memories, great song! But, I must admit these misunderstood lyrics: instead of "shinin' down on the pontchartrain", I heard "shinin' down on the Partridge train." As a teenager, I wondered what the hell this had to do with the Partridge Family!

  • ..it's Ponchutrane, it's a man made lake near New Orleans...

  • Real Players !!! Real Vocals !! This is how it's suppose to be !!

  • i love this.....

  • What a great song. Still have it after all these years

  • Fantastic..... Great music.... Great vibe....

  • I had a chance to see Poco a few years ago, but decided not to go. Now I watch this vid and kick myself for not doing it! LOVE this song...and have for more than 20 years.

  • excellent clip!
