Why is she wearing an apron saying taste of Beirut?? Baklava is Greek...and your not greek! The fact baklava is a Greek word gives it away that it is a taste of Greece.
Made some of this today. It was super easy other than the time it took. (Took me longer than 10 min. for sure...) Mine will probably be very sweet though as I used honey and caramel syrup. Still have more dough to use, so do better next time.
i have had some luck thawing the dough in a microwave. Also a person does not defrost the dough, its best to say thaw. a defrost is removing ice crystals. thank you so much for showing the scrunch teqnique,
Nice and easy , but if you want to make proper baklava and you have time to do so , you need to make fillo dough yourself. Its said that dough should be opened very thin that you can read newspaper if you put to the top. That is the one of the important factors that effects quality , as a tourist you can say and like this one but if you are a real gourmet you can evaluate it whit out even tasting it. (like when you dip the fork , it has to have a special sound)
Excellent. Lebanese Baklawa is delicious and it is NOT Greek. It is Turkish in origin. The Greeks tend to add too much sugar and/or honey making it soft and doused and chewy. The Lebanese style Baklawa is wonderful, uses butter not margarine and not doused with Honey. Well done Joumana
Baklava (pronounced /ˈbɑːkləvɑː/ or /bɑːkləˈvɑː/[1]), (Ottoman Turkish: باقلوا) is a rich, sweet pastry made of layers of filo pastry filled with chopped nuts and sweetened with syrup or honey. It is characteristic of the cuisines of the former Ottoman Empire and much of central and southwest Asia.
@Russia1214981 man for you, everything is greek, baklava, so called gyro, turkish coffee oops sorry - i meant greek coffee, humus, tatziki, yogurt - its a surprise that you guys don't have turkish delight (naming it greek delight) yet, but i am sure you will find an easy way to make it your national sweet treat soon.
