  • Euro is doing really well now. I ought to be able to buy this for 2 or 3 $ US.

  • Brilliant !, I love the way you think !

  • Ingenius, a man after my own heart!.

I also have some pretty kool stuff that I have done over the years to solve problems using very simple principals. I might well make a video about em.

    Thanks for the idea!! ;p

  • If you chop your own wood you'll be sweating so much you won't need to light the stove.

  • Save Ferris Bueller!

  • eh, Im glad Ohio isn't that cold

  • Is it not difficult to stack the logs in such a way that they are not ignited prematurely by the candle?

  • Not even a tiny bit. Logs require direct flame for several minutes before igniting. I've had logs ABOVE the candle and they still don't get going until the firelighter and the lampoil ignite.

  • Good idea

  • I have shared this with some wood burning friends!

    You are indeed ingenious!

Out of curiosity how much do you pay for the

    hardwood?

Did you say 4,000.00 for the stove? Is that 8,000

    Canadian?

  • The stove, chimney and installation cost about €4,500 ... not sure what that is canadian. Our stove is a contura 560T, google that.

  • I spend between €200 and €400 per year on wood, mostly birch.

  • couldnt you just get an electrically timer fire lighter ?

  • Dude, I looked EVERY where for similar devices. Firstly, what we are talking about is basically an incendiary device. A kind of bomb. Think Belfast in the 1980's.

Secondly, it either has to be robust enough to withstand 400° for several hours, or cheap enough to be completely disposable. Granted, when you are intermittently burning down the occasional department store, this is not a problem, but when starting a fire every day for 90 days in the year, it is:-)

  • sometimes works, not reliable enough.

  • I wonder could you replace all your lighting with those fancy candles...

  • From about November to March we do in fact breakfast to candles. A candle generate about as much heat as a person, and a person generates a surprising amount of heat.

  • lol nice

  • but think about the candles!

  • candles are remarkably cheap.

  • humans are too, you could power whole highly advanced AI civilization with them ;)

'twas weird match... you tried hard and we, as usual obliged, losing 2 near the end... bah, lazy, diots... and fans sung off national anthem near when it was 2:0 ... so silly.

  • I refuse to engage with anyone who discusses that match. WE WAS ROBBED!

  • what about the green house gasses? :(

  • Wood is a renewable resource. It's carbon neutral.

  • It's also produced locally ... I mean within a few kilometers. So no transport costs.

  • 19 November on Croke Park. Poland 3 Ireland 2! HA! HAHAHA! HA!

  • BASTARD!

  • I'd rather have a pellet furnace on a timer. Perfect temperature control, less heat waste, uses pressed sawdust and not raw wood.

  • So would I, but the pellets furnaces are much more expensive, and the house was built with electrical heating, so there is no radiator network. It would cost about 4 times what the stove cost.
