grandpa had to go to war in 1943 and grandma was gonna die after the return of him.

my chinese teacher translated it for me when i was a first-year student.

Umm...in the song, 'ah ma' means grandmother, and he mentioned 'ye ye', which is grandfather... And just take my grandparents as an example: They borned in 1943 and 1965. They can't be affected by the war much at that time, so now jjlin is an adult, so it's just nice as his grandparents could be adults at 1943.

Aww, this is such a sad song! First the grandpa said goodbye to the grandma because he had to leave even though their love was so deep. Then the grandma is crying, holding his hands, and telling him she has to leave since she is very sick, on her death bed. Truely sad. Its all thanks to translation, which made me understand this. If i actually understood mandarin, i would cry even more!
