I was a Police Officer for 5 years, i now drive a Tractor trailer for a career. I honestly make twice as much as i did as a Police Officer. I find the job fun and exciting. It's not for every one and it can get dangerous sometimes.
@robertjohnson487 whats up? remember me? the guy whos complaining bout you bitching and moaning and complaning and whining bout trucks scaring his amish little ass horses off the road.
@mageac I know thats what I was thinking too. I searched to second that and found on cdl-testing. com that is the right snswer. WTF why is it such a low requirement? I dunno alot about tires but it just seems low.
can you please be my instructor i have to do this in about a week i am so nervous pre-trip inspection, basic road skill and on the road.................
This might help you a bit. What I'd do when adjusting my trailer brakes is, The left front duals (front axle) I'd back just that set of duals off by 1/4 of a turn more than the others, That way, "If" the other wheels all lock up/skid on snow or Ice, The one backed of will usually keep rotating helping the trailer stay straight. Also, This wheel set you will be able to see it better from your mirror. When you notice the other wheels are skidding, Let up a bit until you see them rotatingf again &
re-aply the brakes to keep the rig under control,. This does work on black ice as well! It's not a failsafe technique,...But it will increase your chances by not skidding out of control & your rig jaknifing! I use to run out west quite a bit & have learned this technique on my own. Hope this helps any! Give it a try in a sloping parking lot covered in snow. PS; Some drivers thought that I was out of my mind with this tech. But I bumped into a few of the drivers at a later time & thanked me!

@JungleListSoldier
Possibly has something to do with all the liberal regulation in the UK. For example, only cabovers are allowed in the UK which sux.

well dont brake hard and steer at the same time, brake befor the turn, not when going into it, make sure your abs works, also do as emdf7 says.
its not that hard to drive on snow and ice, youll get the hang on it.
