Anywhere you can buy .577 T-rex rounds on the internet? Maybe one with no powder so it's safe. I just kinda want one for a collection I want to start.
@DZgoodTimes No. The .50 is still a monster. The T-rex and .600 nitro are designed to put a huge round into a huge animal. a .50 BMG was designed to stop airplanes and light vehicles.
nice vid on explaining the difference between bullet sizes. haha but from the sounds of your accent and vocabulary, you seem to have a poor education... lemi guess.. mid America? nebraska? south Dakota? lol. just guessing
@peace36660 .... and then theres the Finnish 20mm Lahti L-39 anti-tank rifle, then you have shoulder mounted 75mm recoilless rifles... Just what the fuck is your point?? you can always find something "bigger" but you going to have a hard time snapping a 110 lb 950JDJ rifle to your shoulder and hitting a charging rhino...
@hwoods01 Yeah the .950 JDJ is purely just because the 2nd amendment allows it, it has no purpose for anything. I don't know how bad the recoil would be though because 120 lbs can absorb some of that I feel. But I still don't think anyone has shot it, but I havn't done research
@bmx65 I'll agree with that.. We all have our opinions, and I had alot of respect for JD Jones back in the late 80's.. His .375 JDJ was/is a big fav of mine... then, later, the guy just went loony with all of his whisper creations, and basically went full retard with the 950.. Jones is a very skills and smart guy, but some of his stuff is "WUT?" creations..
@hwoods01 The 950JDJ is the largest RIFLE cartridge in history (so really there isn't anything bigger that isn't artillery). It has been fired a handfull of times and there are only about 7 rifles worldwide that could do so. I have looked into purchasing both the cartridge and the rifle and came across a law stating it is ILLEGAL to shoulderfire the weapon. It must be attached to a lead sled and being used for target training, otherwise it is classified as a Destructive Device (just under WMD).
its an interesting cartridge however fester dose NOT kill any better !!! recoil managment is a personal atribute
i shot the 700 nitro last june at linebaugh seminar with 1000 grains solid going 2300 fps ave which dose not bother me at all see for yourself at ; 700 ntro recoil (shooter avi) fact, i love those big boomers though they are not prectical nor penetrates well which is on record from africa hunts during the years .best cartridges are the 500 n.e & 416 rigby
@lKALASHNIKOVl there is a reason to own a gun even do you dont hunt, you are a foul, i do every week shoot in a sportly fashion, not to shoot to kill but for sports
@jcmknl2005 The .577 Tyrannosaur can be fired from the shoulder and carried around, .50 BMG's are a bit too heavy and unwieldy to do that with. (you can carry a .50, but you will be firing from bipods, not standing up!) If you want to go to extreme's, there are much bigger cartridges then the .50 as well, but they are mounted in helicopter's, fighter planes, ships, and such. :) Comparing the two = apples vs. oranges.
You can clown on this guys mistake, or even his accent...but, my guess if you watched the whole video this gentleman knows a lot more about different types of ammunition than you do. It's funny people make fun of this guy when he says "A rab" but say nothing about when people pronounce Iraq as "Eye rack"
every gun is desined with purpose in mind, whats this gun desined for? i have shot the 12g round, and the 7.62, they make sence. but that seems like an overkill.
and yes, i'm an A-rab, and i would really like to have a go at that, it looks fun! and maybe post my video afterwards
Well as far as projectile size, you could say the 10 gauge is, in that it normally loads what is essentially just BBs. However, shotguns are a category of their own and can't really be compared to rifle and pistol rounds. As far as they're concerned... the .223caliber or 5.56mm round is the smallest of the bullets in this video. However it probably hits about as hard if not harder than that .30 carbine despite it's small size.
@ForFREEDOM13 oh yeah. most of 'em were designed for black powder shells but you can buy modern powder shells for some of the modern 10 gauge shotguns and blast away. I think they still make 'em. I've fondled some 10 gauges at gun shops.
@genecro9 The bullet diameter of the 577 Tyran is .585, so it is bigger than the 50, but the 50BMG still has more overall power due to a higher velocity.
@aesops52220 well, in terms of muzzle energy of out a long barrel, yes. But this cartridge out of a 22 inch barrel is pushing a 750 grain bullet only 300 fps slower, than a 50BMG can push a 750gr bullet out of a 30+ inch barrel.. And, the A-square rifle can be carried, 50BMG rifles are more like crew-served weapons.
@hwoods01 yeah but the round such long range its not aerodynamic at all and unpractical who need a 70 cal when you can kill some one from 2600 yards with a barret 416.
@DaBestLeftAlive 1) Not all weapons are designed for the same purpose, 2) The cartridge is for stopping charging dangerous game. 3) Specifically meant for professional guides to use. A Barrett 416 is a different tool for a different job.
Now I know this bullet is designed specifically for extreme situations during big game hunting, specifically the big 5 of Africa (dangerous game), when a wounded Elephant or Cape Buffalo charges you.
So two questions.
1. Will this actually stop them in their tracks? I know it has over 10000ft-lbs of energy.
2. WHAT will this bullet do to a human being if say shot in the chest? Head? Limbs? Any educated guesses?
@MrRanga200012 A hit would be devastating to say the least. The head would probably be in 100 pieces like a watermelon dropped from 3 stories. Chest hit would create a massive exit wound and it could easily take off an arm.
@hwoods01 are you positive about that? the .577 trex is a .577 (inches) diameter bullet that is why it is called the .577. Just like the .45 auto is .45 inches in diameter. So the .50 Browning Machine Gun (BMG) is .5 inches in diameter. Im not saying you are wrong im just saying im not sure who is correct.
@tspragg1 Yeap, sure of it.. the names of cartridges is a bit of a science. there is no "law" governing the names of cartridges. example, the 44 magnum is, in fact, .429 in bullet diameter. The 38 special is .358, and the 218 Bee, 219 Zipper, 220 Swift, 221 Fireball, 222 Rem mag, 223 Rem, 224 Weatherby, & 225 Winchester all use .224 inch bullets. Adding to problem is the different way in which America and Europe base their "diameters" - Land versus Groove..
@hwoods01 well you just blew my mind. You sound to be knowledgeable about bullet caliber's. Thanks for sharing this info. Oh, and actually i have a question that you might know the answer to. What is the difference between a .30-06 Springfield and the .30-06 Garand ammo?
