I don't think the guy is being rude, he just is having a bit of a difficult time with the interview. I'm sure if Stevie thought he was being disrespected he would have been a lot shorter in his answers. I spoke with the Allman Bros. percussionist Marc Quinones years ago and he said he met Stevie at a NAMM Show and he was without a doubt the most humble and gracious person he had ever met in the music industry. Not a wimp but a nice guy. We all could take a lesson from Mr. Vaughn.
If i owned the radio station.I would of threw a cup of hot coffee in his face! And fire the fuckhead for being so fucking lame and rude for his interview with the Fender Master SRV.
It's a complete shame that this guy got to interview SRV; he seemed to have little to no real interest at all with the whole deal. Props to SRV for being a gentleman through it all. Rest in Peace ;0(
I have been playing guitars for 20 years and I prefer Fender the most most because of Hendrix and SRV. About 12 years ago I bought a Danelectro guitar with same exact pick ups for $99 on clearance and that guitar did have the same exact kind of tone that he is explaining in the interview. I loved the tone and don't know why the heck I sold it on ebay bout 5 years ago. It had 7 position Switchomatic. I was broke at the time but now I got some money I shoud try to buy it back! Miss that guitar!
Alder body, ebony fingerboard, maple neck and Danelectro "lipstick" pickups. Hardtail, single tone and volume controls. White "trick" or "flip-flop" automotive paint which gives an irredescent blue tint depending on the light and angle of view. In 2003, Charley's and Rene Martinez made 23 numbered Owners of these replicas include Carlos Santana, John Mayer and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
Most youtube posters (especially in music vids) are actually kids younger than 10, and as far as videogames go, the way it works is, MOST non-american gamers are adults because kids in most other countries can't afford a console or a high speed connection, but here in the states it's the total opposite, MOST litterate and responssible Americans are way too busy with their work to have the time to go online for fun so much, and that's why people abroad have us pegged as violent 12 year olds
Oh, sorry, you must have missed the comment i was replying to from some guy mixing this up with the videogame "guitar hero", and saying that through his interaction with us via multiplayer videogames, he has decided that we Americans are violent and foul mouthed..Hence my rebuttal...
Stevie used alot of differnt gear. Mainly old Marhsall, fender amps, The white guitar in this video was barely used as far I can remember. Some videos he did use the guitar and I guess maybe on some albums and special songs. But really I never liked the way it sounded.
Its a fixed bridge. Its still sounds great. I just have not really seen him with it that much. And its probably my reluctancy to not want to see him with any other guitar that his number one. Live at the El Macombo is what I hang onto. By far one of his best performances. No offense ment.
I know its common knowledge, but don't be scared of ripping out your frets and putting jumbos in,i did it to my srv, clapton and my eric johnson its addictive.way better.fat strings and high action.louder, rings out,and harder to play.need resistance
Awesome interview just great hearing him chat about the guitar set up, I had heard he had also played the odd Tokai and was asked to remove the fender logo. Does any one have any real insight into that?? is fact or fiction as I have seen a Tokai poster with srv
The story goes that the guitar he is holding on the cover of the Texas Flood album is a Tokai Springy Sound strat. These were GREAT strat knockoffs back when CBS still owned Fender and was building below standard guitars. The cover of Texas Flood has no name on the headstock because it was removed for use on the cover. However, I have never seen him actually use a Tokai. But I wouldn't doubt it as these were awesome guitars.
I believe the interviewer was a finn called Esa Kuloniemi. He still hosts the one and only blues-radio show in Finland called Bluesministeri.
He is a great guitarist and doing an excellent job for blues awareness. He is very respected here in Finland so I don't understand what's all that disrespect about. Com'on!
Eb model? I wonder what the scale length of Charlie was? At ~2:00 it shows a close-up, the neck meets the body at like the 17th fret, a normal strat is closer to the 15th. The neck looks longer also... HMMM?
@Dmichel123 I checked all 3 of my Strats and the necks on all of then join the body between the 16th and 17th frets. The camera angles can do weird things to pictures.
not german - it is more of a yugoslavian/russian/polish - i don't know... but rather eastern european. although i must agree that most germans speak horrible english.
Stevie's such a smart and patient guy, thanks for the chance to hear him in such a normal 'guitar geek' kind of conversation. Truly a cool person, never a bad word for anyone that I've heard.
