Theres a great version recorded by BBC radio 1 at Birmingham NEC in 1988.I think its as good if not better than this. Also it looks like JASON COOPER on drums, in which case its not 1990.Hes my friends cousin & Im sure he didnt join till 96 at the earliest.
I was about 15 when they recorded this song and I used to trip with it, now I´m 45 and I still get goose bumps when I see Mr. Smith go into a trance with his guitar o how he reaches into it for the most beautifully haunting sound and notes. To me, the only band that didn´t follow any music standard and that pretty much created their own chord sequences as well as setting alternative music trends that gave way to many bands we have around. Long live to The Cure!
@chetumalkid I will, I'm sorry I didn't want to disturb you BUT SERIOUSLY DUDE WHAT THE FUCK THEIR DEBUT ALBUM DIDN'T COME OUT UNTIL '79 DON'T MAKE UP BULLSHIT ok sorry dude, that was a hard one, I didn't mean to you know it just comes to me
@chetumalkid Id like to know by who? Theyd only just signed a recording deal & were relativly unknown. Also Roberts playing in the early days was rather simplistic.Take a look/listen to chord s used on the 1st 2 albums. This song hasbeen added to more & more over the years as hes progressed as a guitarist.I think hes underated as a gutarist now.Musical genius isnt too big a compliment!
@soulblacknight esta todo perfecto, no es solo robert. Si hubiera sido Jason, no dudes que no se quedaría así, basta que escuches el sonido de la batería ahora.

@stevobath It is. Festwiese am Zentralstadion in Leipzig (East Germany) on August 8, 1990.

@thecurepl Its not Jason Cooper. He actually joined in 1995.Its Boris Williams playing on drums. They do look superficially similar.

This is the best version I have ever heard. That voice.. I've also seen this live, but this.. just the way he sings it gives me shivers.
And no one will ever top is guitar playing, in my opinion.
