@Cazhead13 It's amazing, because when I was a 10 year oldkid - before the 1964 Civil Rights Act which is mentioned in this song - I realized that racist was not just morally wrong, but also just plain stupid and costly, I have to admit that I've heard MUCH more racist talk in the last three years than in the thirty preceding years put together! (And A LOT of it is by Asians and Mexicans, btw).
1.) Bruce Hornsby's version topped the pop charts. 2Pac's stalled at #32 on the Hot 100 (It did top the rap charts and was #12 on the R&B charts).
2.) Hornsby was a Grammy for Best New Artist. 'Changes' was the first (and so far only) posthumous song to be nominated for a Rap Solo Performance Grammy. He lost to (shudder) Eminem.

@ltuomela i agree that you were a holocaust, but the 1st?hardly.scripture talks about other nations in other other times causing great damage to other peoples and races.Scripture also tells us that ALL these people are coming back to life.including the native americans...Was Tupac as smart as you proclaim him to be?he tended to lean on his own understanding and/so he couldve been smarter. But hes coming back too:)

@ltuomela "man" is about control not the bible(god is love).the bible is corrupted by these religous organizations that you speak of who indeed water it down.but soon they will be removed(governments will attack religion) and i tell you that biblical prophecies(Revelations) have NEVER been wrong.this will be explained to Tupac when he comes back to life and leans on his creators understanding and not his own...or others.

Beefcow grow up and get it through your head that everyone is equal but not everyone is fortunate, this is called life! It doesn't matter if you're Asian, black, Caucasian etc There is no race that has never committed a crime, but there are races who will use a minority as a scapegoat. Put it this way, when scientists ever need an example of a low IQ i've got your youtube name. P.s say hi to your mum/cousin/dad/brother........oh wait did i just sterotype you as well? TWAT!
It wish the world could just get along and quit hating everyone for their Religion beliefs, Political views, Race or Gender! 2 wrongs don't make a right! Learn to love thy Neighbor!
This white boy says to his kind who feel guilt when they see this. It's painful and shocking, and it should be. But we haven't healed completely because this is the United States of Amnesia, and we can't heal this pain until it's acknowledged. We have a president who never wastes a breath blaming whites, but has the grace to love this country and implicitly forgive it. Louis Armstrong isn't saying "kill whitey", he sings its a wonderful world. Well it can be. We DO have a black prez!
Native Americans lost everything completely, yet they do not complain.
Hispanics are discriminated, to this day, we take it how it is and deal with it.
MOST or Half of African Americans today, are NOT dealing with what their great grandparents dealt with, so please, stop acting like victims because we're all on equal ground, and become more civilized, and less about big fine asses & drugs.
Maybe get a job, and don't expect hand me down's, becuz whats happened, has passed. We're ALL dealing.
If there was anything exclusivly for Caucasian Americans it would be considered a racist organizeation. Also tupac i am personally happy you can no longer rip off classic songs and just butcher them with synthesized bull shit. that is about all pop and rappers can do in todays society is remix the classic and great hits by artists that knew how to make music. It sickens me.
@TheMollet first of all who ever the hell u are bitch yo people been riping our ass off since day one bitch, everything u think u know u got from african american people. You r not the one to be talking about getting ripped off do u have a receipt for me or any of my people , we are not refundable so get use to it stupid ass. I loved bruce hornsby before i never knew of Tupac and u sound crazy. Go to Sleep..............
Nope, everything white people created, white people created. Stop claiming the achievements of others' and achieve something yourself, you inept, simplistic piece of afrocentric shit. But no, you'll keep sitting on your welfare ridden ass, with a chip on your shoulder, inherited from daddy, regurgitating the same old unfounded idiocies. Go ahead, try and prove me wrong. Drop the kiddy insults and prove me wrong, fool.
Also the native americans witch had it much worse then any african american had. you dont hear them complaining about stuff that happened to them. Also most black people alive today have never experienced slavery or really any sort of atrocitys that their for fathers faced so why are they still complaining. Also if you look through today you Black Entertainment Television, NAACP, and Black Chamber of comerce and al sorts of other programs exclusivly for black people.
Another group most people don't mention when speaking of the past are the Irish. They too faced worse than black Americans, ranging from slavery, murder, to mass starvation etc. After the times of slavery, when America truly grew, during our industrial revolution, who "slaved" it out in the factories, dealt with the extremely poor living conditions, often not even making enough to feed themselves, let alone their families. The Irish! I love my Irish heritage!
First off lets make an intersting statement. Racism isn't just a white trait. Blacks are just as racist as some whites but all in all racism is now limited to very small individual towns. But as a question why is it so much more dangerous to live in a minority neighborhood such as hispanic or african american vs a white neighborhood? Something that gets me is why must i being white be sterotyped for something that happened 80 years before my time?
@zaantjedam123 cause u still talking about it first of all the white race won't admit ya'll need us to make yourself look good cause without african americans, Indian, and hispanics, white wouldn't have nobody to step on and make u feel good about yourself or to steal from. Every idea yo race ever had comes from whoooooo.
Love the remix! Love the pic of 2pac and my man Bruce. Love the clips. Love the footage. In fact, I totally love it. And I'm white as snow. (I never saw that post-beating of King in the hospital. how awful).
I am back! I walk among you with skin of white and eyes of blue, you may not recognize me when you see me, you will know me when you look into my eyes! I wear this disguise to keep me safe, know that I still have the same dream. I have returned to finish what I started, Brothers and Sisters unite and join me in building a Peaceful place we can all live together... M.L.K.
I seriously hope that you got an A for this presentation because this whole video is great. If I was a teacher, I would've given you an A for this presentation, no matter what the subject.
@beefcow2009 you are a racist pig! you obviously don't care for anyone, do you have a heart?, they are humans it's about time people like you start treating them like ones. You on the other hand are not. SHAME ON YOU! This brought tears to my eyes,
i am only 11 and i still have more respect than you.
this is to crankycraig48 if all people felt this way we would all go to heaven.i am a preschool teacher and my students r all races in my classroom,i refuse to work in a daycare where there is only one race.i teach them to luv each other.your comment has really made my day.
People should unite before it is too late, first it was Indian natives then it was black people now it is the muslim race. It seems to be a cycle of divide and conquer. we should stand together and wipe the Elite out and start over before they wipe us out. Man should be what he was born to be Free and Independant.
Great mix and video HOWEVER, RKelly (and his issue, which I think he has problems:)) don't belong on it. And I defy anyone here to question (reality of) the lyrics of either song?
Both great songs. My son didn't even know about Bruce Hornsby ORIGINAL version until I played it for him.
@beefcow2009 youre one of those who tell those less fortunate than you to just go and get a job just for fun. Youre live proof of how real this song and the world is.
Just had to say this video is great, really well put together :) the more people in this world who share this vision of equality the better.
Also @beefcow2009, you really do need to grow up. I'm sure you'd be offended if someone stereotyped you for being Asain, assuming the worst. Yeah, take a step back and think about what your saying. Race dictates what a person is like just as much as pigs can fly. Opinions such as your own are only dragging this world to hell. Is that where you want to be?
@thej0be thsi is really well made and inspiring, I hope it did well in the competition. Instead of glorifying the acts of the civil rights workers in the 60's and thus denegrating those of people today, it shows the reality of racism as it has changed throughout history and both of these songs talk about different causes and effects. Thank you.
@MrPierrestam try learning the 'bad emporer's" name before you start throwing it around. it's commodus. im not trying to be a jerk i just dont want you to look stupid. and btw, how do those two statements even go together?
Why can't we as a people just look through what kind of race the other person is and just see each other as human beings... I'm just sick of all the prejudice. I just want people to see that there ain't no difference between black and white we all human right? that's what it's all about
im asian and sick of black people saying they aint treated right. go get a fucking job, stop begging. i dont mind giving u few cents or dollors if i saw ur ass picking up cans and recyclying shit or at least trying to do something
@beefcow2009 That is a disgusting comment. You seriously need to question the way you think about the world. How dare you stereotype an entire group of people and say such bigoted, disrespectful comments. You clearly know nothing about inequality. Go read a book. Enlighten yourself. Shame on you!
@thej0be im reading, " The Magic of Thinking Big" it shows me respect and how to treat others. But black people dont deserver respect. They all act the same, always wanting to fight or commit crime. NEVER WILL GET MY RESPECT!!! NEVER!!!
@popheykikker You'll never know how black people hurted many communities and family and you wont ever understand at all. I heard gun shots in my backyard. I look outside, saw black guy breathing hard and running. This is an example that black people will never change
@popheykikker no. it was a black guy. HOw i know? cause i fucking look out thru my window. My front year is mix with white, mexican, asians. my back is nothing but black people. Front yard is houses, backyard is apartments. fuck niggers
@thej0be way ta go. That is what's up. Opression is a much more complexed problem than the guy who made that comment think it is, and beefcow2009 If the problem was as easy as you made it sound it would have been that way but it is not, Apparently you don't know the situation because if you did you would see that picking up cans can not solve a family's problem even if it brought in something in.
@thej0be Clearlly this is how children these days are raised. Its horrible how mean people can be to others just because of race or sexuality. People really need to come up with a real reason for this kind of rage not just run there mouths off hopeing to not look like inconsiderate intolorent assholes.
@beefcow2009modern Hip Hops is to blame. it's main reason use to be for being a platform to inform the youth of social injustice but when you have Gansters in video clips riding around on quads, wearing Gold chains more expensive than some peoples cars and rapping about how hard things are for them, they make Hip Hop look stupid and lose creed. the Black mans struggle for equality in america is legit but the music industry has ruined Hip Hop ( and every other Genre ).
Really? I don't have anything to say accept that you sound so incredibly ignorant. Grow up. Color of your skin does not affect whether you commit crime, etc. There are PLENTY of white people, asian people, and everywhere in between in prison for the same crimes as the black people in prison. You're disgusting.
@zombiebassist1994 at least, i help the economy. why are you mad at me when i have a job and boosting the economy while niggers are home eating from my check? i can say what i want, after all, i am the one feeding niggers.
The planet has not known prejudice like white supremacy? God help us all for the sons and daughters of satin have landed and now satin has become the god of "this world".
"Satin is a weave that typically has a glossy surface and a dull back. Some definitions insist that the fabric be made from silk. If a fabric is formed with a satin weave using filament fibres such as silk, nylon, or polyester, the corresponding fabric is termed a satin." - Wikipedia
So, I'm white, and it's ridiculous to think that I'm not racist. How can you live in a country divided the way it is between black and white and Hispanic, etc., between the rich haves, the middle-class haves-and the have-nots. The question is where to go from here. How can each one of us as an individual do something to make a difference in this in our own communities to stop avoiding each other, because we do.
@crankycraig , i feel you man,but its not just about the race thing, its the divide between rich and poor , malcolm x wasnt the same sort of guy as MLK was he though...,"By any means neccesary!!",you could see how MLK put himself accross he was a gentle man on a mission to change the way things were back then,i hate racism, but was in a "black club" rencently and got beaten up for my colour, because of the way some "white people" treated blacks we all suffer, but racism isnt a one sided thing
@drmaboy great words - looked for truth and it all rang hollow - free your mind and the rest will follow - race doesn't make the individuals - individuals make the race - tupac said a lot of truth and then got gunned down?
i heard this song on the radio...(yes i listen to the radio to discover classic songs) and i had eargasm' but when i learned the lyrics... it just made it more meaningful... some people are prejudice because they are sheeples... they cant think for themselves.... and dont know how to listen to ther hearts... PEACE!
Made me cry, man. Great video. For everyone's information. Obama isn't black. One thing 'pac knew for sure, we are not ready for a black president. He knew so much, man. Every time a man/woman black or white preaches love and compassion, they're killed off. The elitest of this world wants us all to hate one another, be it through race, politics, religion, or just thoughts. Open your third eye, listen. Peace.
I am not an expert , but I think it is 'the gateway to a higher level of thinking and awareness' situated in the forehead, but is invisible, in one of the religions....possibly Budhism or Hinduism?I am sure.Someone more intelligent than me will know
For all this country has to be proud of, the shameful moments in its past are just so overwhelming. While our leaders and the media point out the injustices of the world, they refuse to acknowledge the stains on our own flag. I would love to see the day where people realize just how insignificant matters such as race or personal differences are, and start to focus on creating a world where everyone can prosper and none are left behind. However, I can't help fear that I'll never see that world.
As a white person I really don't understand this "were we came from" attitude. Slavery ended one hundred and fifty years ago, get over it. None of the african-americans alive today witnessed slavery and most of them weren't alive during the segregation. The funny part about slavery is that the descendants of slaveowners are really pissed that there are so many blacks in the us.
@nolbie Have to agree, great song. But could we turn the volume down on the hate please? When will we just live as a nation of people & not of colors. why not just strive to be good to others today & stop worrying about the idiots who hated in the past. To hell with yesterday, let's make a better tomorrow.
@427bk We can not move forward as a nation until credit is given to a great people who were stolen from there motherland and bought for this country as commodities to build a nation based on economics (capitolism) Blacks and whites will move forward together, when through reparations we are made whole. This bill is brought to the House of Reps every year and then promptly ignored. We are forever linked to the past. What you suggest about forgeting it is cowardous and black Americans deserve more
I don't totally disagree with the premise of your comment. Thank you BTW for using the term "black american" & not african american since so few blacks are actually from africa anymore. I believe that slavery was a bad thing in every conceivable way. Truly a tragedy in the history of this nation. Several Presidents as well as special sessions of Congress have proclaimed this fact & have offered public apologies for this travesty. So why do we continue to wallow in the past.
@427bk Please cite the presidents and sessions of congress, so that we can put them in a political context. None the less, this does not go far enough. Reparations need to be negotiated. I do not hyphenate the words African and American because this practice is historically used for NEW immigrants, but NOT because black Americans are not from Africa... and their ancestry is important whether they can personally know it or not, which is why "we continue to wallow in the past".
@bdevallable June 19, 2009 The Senate unanimously passed a resolution apologizing for slavery.
Jul 2, 2009, the Senate passed a resolution calling on the US to apologize for more
than three centuries of enslavement and segregation.
July 30, 2008, the U.S. House of Representatives issued an apology to black Americans for the institution of slavery, and the Jim Crow laws. Jun 18, 2009 The US Senate approved a resolution formally apologizing for the of slavery of African-Americans.
@427bk Thanks for those dates. The article in the Washington Post puts those "political moves" into a spotlight. I mean no disrespect to your opinion, but do you really think that what they did over there in Washington is enough. It doesn't have to be cash given to the decendents of slaves... just a real apology- and maybe a monument or a museum.
@nolbie You only have to be in your 50's or 60's to have lived through the civil rights struggle. Don't you think that those people still living have a right to share their stories? At least you admit that you don't understand... now go educate yourself on this country's history. Look up who Jim Crow was, and find out about the case of Plessey v. Fergusson
that pic of bruce and tupac is dome cool stuff, good to see they got to meet, both versions of that song are perfect... I first thought the original shouldnt be messed with, but the lord knows that Tupac would be the one to do it right... realllll hard

2.) Hornsby was a Grammy for Best New Artist. 'Changes' was the first (and so far only) posthumous song to be nominated for a Rap Solo Performance Grammy. He lost to (shudder) Eminem.

Drop the kiddy insults and prove me wrong, fool.
youbetterbelievehah 9 months ago
Also the native americans witch had it much worse then any african american had. you dont hear them complaining about stuff that happened to them. Also most black people alive today have never experienced slavery or really any sort of atrocitys that their for fathers faced so why are they still complaining. Also if you look through today you Black Entertainment Television, NAACP, and Black Chamber of comerce and al sorts of other programs exclusivly for black people.
TheMollet 10 months ago
@TheMollet
The Irish! I love my Irish heritage!
youbetterbelievehah 9 months ago
First off lets make an intersting statement. Racism isn't just a white trait. Blacks are just as racist as some whites but all in all racism is now limited to very small individual towns. But as a question why is it so much more dangerous to live in a minority neighborhood such as hispanic or african american vs a white neighborhood? Something that gets me is why must i being white be sterotyped for something that happened 80 years before my time?

So, I'm white, and it's ridiculous to think that I'm not racist. How can you live in a country divided the way it is between black and white and Hispanic, etc., between the rich haves, the middle-class haves-and the have-nots. The question is where to go from here. How can each one of us as an individual do something to make a difference in this in our own communities to stop avoiding each other, because we do.

Good video though.
nolbie 1 year ago
@nolbie Have to agree, great song. But could we turn the volume down on the hate please? When will we just live as a nation of people & not of colors. why not just strive to be good to others today & stop worrying about the idiots who hated in the past. To hell with yesterday, let's make a better tomorrow.
427bk 1 year ago
@427bk We can not move forward as a nation until credit is given to a great people who were stolen from there motherland and bought for this country as commodities to build a nation based on economics (capitolism) Blacks and whites will move forward together, when through reparations we are made whole. This bill is brought to the House of Reps every year and then promptly ignored. We are forever linked to the past. What you suggest about forgeting it is cowardous and black Americans deserve more
bdevallable 1 year ago
@bdevallable
427bk 1 year ago

427bk 1 year ago
@427bk Thanks for those dates. The article in the Washington Post puts those "political moves" into a spotlight. I mean no disrespect to your opinion, but do you really think that what they did over there in Washington is enough. It doesn't have to be cash given to the decendents of slaves... just a real apology- and maybe a monument or a museum.
