  • It's too tail heavy in the video. You can tell because it wants to climb inverted as the power is reduced.

  • Have you flown this plane on a calm day yet to see if it's any better? Also what exactly was it that you did not like? I like the looks of the plane but the looks are meaningless if it flies like a brick.

  • I guess at only 39oz, the P-40 wont be as stable as the 67oz P-51

  • Tony, what battery should i get for this plane, that doesnt involve cutting away foam, isnt over or under powered, and wont need nose weight to balance?

  • you call your self nitro plains but all you review is battery planes. Whats going on? Are you ling?

  • ok.. here is my review. this plane needs several hours of work to make it sturdy. the 2 screws that hold the wing in place are a joke. I had to use velcro to help keep the wings stay where is suposed to be. THERE IS NO EXIT FOR AIR on the flying tiger model. everything got REALLY hot!!!! the casing for the re tracks loose and ready to. the battery is under powered. a 4 cell 20 c is not enough. I used a 4 cell 2650 40c. MUCH BETTER. but I had make room for it. Good luck.

  • Everything flys great to Pete from Bananahobby. Tony is honest and thats what I like. Pete just tells us what we want to here to sell sell sell!!!!! I wont buy from Bananasnobby. Tonys honesty makes me want to buy. Also bananahobby wont let us review there products nitroplanes will ,I like that, you will see the pros and cons of what you are buying.

  • @wingman725

    great comment!

    so true..

  • put the retracs up

  • Nice looking plane, but from a Kansas guy born to fly in the wind the plane itself looks like it is not handeling well, heavey wind will pitch the whole plane it doesnt usually make the plane fly like a rollercoaster.

  • he look's like Jet li ^^

  • for it there being a good wind that flew pretty stable surprisingly

  • You should learn to fly scale when you fly a scale airplane

  • just took mine on the maiden voyage the other night, great flying plane very little trim needed but i am going to add a little wight to tail as i used full up trim to fly straight. other than that i love how it flies.

  • do you buy these RC planes or do you have to build them yourselves

  • do you buy these RC planes or do you have to build them yourselfs

  • Have you had a chance to do another flight when there was calm winds yet? Have or has the company done any upgrades or have you done any to this model?

  • your flying style is horrendous.soooooo bouncy learn to fly smoth before making another video please!

  • @Lunchsacks1 with that sock radio he could not have any expo, high or low rates. that had to have made a huge impact on the flight. also its not fair to judge a pilot when it was first time flying this model. give the guy some credit.

  • i think it would work well with a Dx6i where you could add some expo to it

  • trust me this plane need one half ounce to the nose to make it fly perfect ,,,, just try it it will stop it from pitching upwards on torque bands ,

  • Energy sources without the need for fuel or energy input exist ,But the big oil corporations don't want that technology revealed,Get a motor that works with the power of magnets only at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Be a part of the energy revolution!

  • nice bird!

  • Nice Pilots

  • Geeze, I thought it was a fiberglass/wood model and when you floated it in and it didn't stall I thought HMMMM, that must be a foamy LOL! I think that with a couple of washers in the top part of the motor to get the thrust line down, and not flying it in the wind will help. It looks very nice in the air!

    Jeff

  • very nice looking plane! I watched the whole review and flight. That is awesome how easy it looks to build. So all servos are in place too I'd assume? And the retracts are already installed that is just great... no glue... just screws... I think I need to get this plane soon!

  • way to keep it real mate,im definatly getting my hands on the p51,due to your review!!thanks, happy flying

    matt

  • @funkyfack Thanks

    -Tony

  • nice honest review! do u plan on doing another flight review of it when it's not windy there or was this it?

  • @jamiekenta Yup whenever the wind dies down I will try to do another review. It just wasn't a good day for flying but I knew a lot of you guys wanted to see it fly so I flew it anyways. Hopefully next time there will be 2 p40's in the air at the same time :)

    -Tony

  • @nitroplanes o nice nice! btw, any plans on releasing like a zero or fw-190? would be pretty cool to see a vid of them dogfighting lol.

  • That thing looks awesome! I'll have to look into that :) My next plane I want to be either an EDF jet or a warbird with retracts... Ahh choices ;p

    Good flying!!! Thumbs UP!

  • Nice video, I would wait for a nice day to do reviews, after all we like to fly on nice days. Looks like it needs a touch of up elevator. and perhaps the end user will have a better radio to tweak in some expo so the plane is not so jumpy. Brutally honest review, I would try flying on a calm day and with better radio perhaps the plane will get a better mark.

  • @RadioControlVideo I agree but a lot of people were waiting to see how it flies so I took my chances and flew it. I prefer nice calm days. Makes flying more relaxing :) I could have swapped out the stock radio and used my DX7 with all the opinions but I flew the plane stock to be fair.

    -Tony

  • Elevator surface is always touchy on a warbird. CG is important in a warbird. As noseheavy as you can get away with without nosing over on take offs.

  • The excellent and interesting video !

    5*****

  • LOL i had to laugh at you going on about the wind, now you know what we in the UK have to put up with most weeks ;-) but great to hear you give an honest review about that bird, thumbs up.

  • @startazz Thanks..Sucks for you guys having all that wind. The wind only makes you a better flyer because it keeps you on top your game :)

    -Tony

  • You should have tried flying more towards that big wall at the other end of your runway over where the popping sounds were coming from hehe.

  • Thanks for your Honest review! it looked like the wind was blowing the plane around.

Also if you were to use a computer Radio Im sure you could also dial in a better flight setup moving horns gets old. thanks gain for your post :)

  • Rear wheel looks broke...:)'

  • @geekfish It's not broken. It's just turned to the side

    -Tony

  • @nitroplanes since you guys wont answer emails phone calls or your online chat never has anyone online

i'll ask you, when are you going to have the green version of this in stock ?

  • Comment removed

  • It it under powered? Kinda looks it? Beautiful plane tho'..

  • @geekfish Most planes are overpowered, i think its just right

  • @geekfish This plane does not lack in any power in my opinion. Some parts of the vid I was trying to demonstrate the low speed characteristics but it's hard to tell. I am working on getting a wireless mic so next time I can talk while i'm flying to the viewers can see what I am actually doing :)

    -Tony

  • @nitroplanes does it seem to be squirrely?

  • @nitroplanes hi i love this plane and saving up to it but do you sent it to denmark

    magnus

  • I like your honesty and I like Tony's Review(vs bananaman's bluffing)

  • @shangsandy87 Good old Pete.. every plane is; "beautiful here guys"...

  • @shangsandy87 Everyone has their own style :)

    -Tony

  • @shangsandy87 Totally agree.

  • do another flying video with no wind so you can give us a better review of how the plane handles

  • @YAGO323 Will do

    -Tony

  • good looking warbird but like always on the site it says sold out

  • fly it again when the wind is not so bad and just let us know in another vid.

  • Beautiful plane...

  • I like the honesty.

  • A P-40 fan will buy this plane with some mods in mind, and not nasty surprises thanks to Tony's honest review. Seriously, well done sir.

The out-of-the-box prices are really good with these airfield kits, so buying some better parts to make it right isn't a big deal, especially since we know from the start.

Well done! The plane looks great.

  • haha wtf? last vid he was like amazed by the retracts, and now he's dising em wtf?

  • @tommyboy260 He did the same thing with the P-51

  • lol i like tony way bettert than pete from banana hobby because pete lies and says all the planes are perfect tony accualy says what he thinks keep up the good work!

  • Tony is a four finger flyer!

    Nice, honest and windy review!

  • Tony when you do those low flybys could you please make some machine gun noises, Rat a tat tat tat Rat a tat tat tat.

  • lol its hot and 1mph wind here in the uk!!

  • Great video review! an honest description of this plane and that's what we all want, excellent work and keep it up!

  • the wind !!! damit lol plane is awesome i want it in the green ! think the e-flight retracts would work in this one guys?? great vid Tony

  • i have a GWS P40 & the CG is not good , must move the battery towards the back a bit , 2200mah lipo 3s, any tips anyone for better CG?

  • tony were can i get a shirt at........can u send me one plplpl lol

  • When he picks the plane up at 6:07 you can see what he is saying about the flimsy gear. Looks nice but maybe not the best performer. Nice vid though!! Keep them coming!

  • CG is bad out of box, cut out the intakes up front and put 12oz of lead in. It flies like a dart very straight, even in wind it is a different plane than the one in the video up top.

  • I am now waiting 2-4 weeks for replacment parts. The Tail wheel servo is also too weak, if you turn in any direction too far it will lock and buzz till you lift the plane up. I would have to say the best thing about this plane is the toughness of the epo foam it is tough beyond words. I would suggest getting metal gears in those retract servos, there is a lot riding on those things to function properly.

  • The thing is the retracts... they were the reason I went with the p-40 instead of the P-51 because how awesome and scale they looked, but are so wobbly! The plane will track sideways on takeoff sometimes, and whats even worse is I touched down on my right gear and it collapsed breaking the prop then finishing off the other left gear. The only thing keeping the gear foward are 2 little plastic tabs at the top of the struts.

  • what camera do you guys use for filming your videos?

  • 2:04 wow,,, I thought it was going in... Plane seems fun and responsive... even on that wind... in my state we sometimes call our RC planes "RC kites"...

  • tony nice flight, and i see you got a hair cut

  • looks great!

  • looks a wee bit under powered

  • @slyfoxflyer66 I was thinking more tail heavy than underpowered. Great looking plane.
