@petrucciphan You mean the difference between a procedural shader vs. a texture? Both work fine. I tend to use images for more control and procedurals when I want something quick, but its all a matter of preference.
i fing XSI to be better than blender... but this is me... blender is widelly used because is free... and its been there for a loooooong time... so people jus started to use it... but XSI as i see... is more capable witht they´r new ICE system... im a Maya user... im use to it but if i choose another app it will be XSI... not blender... i think blender is so popular because its free... and its ben on the scene like forever...
Me i use 3ds max is that a good program to make models and animations cause im only 11 years old and i want to make an animation just like you it so awesome
That makes so much sense! Look at real life sculptures. We model the pupils as "Craters" instead of simply making the lines. It "Fakes" the eyes.
I have trouble adding the extra highlight all the time in 3D. This is because I've not learned how to mask parts of my models so I have to render the eyes WITH my models.
I tried adding a the lens to the eye itself but it just ends up looking weird. Especially with toon characters.
It worked on Cars, but that was because the eyes were flat on the windshield. I think it works in certain styles, but you lose a lot of depth when it doesn't change with the light.
EXCELLENT*

hey lucas, i use maya alot, what are your thoughts on modeling the eye like u said, then just adding a shader vs. texturing the iris and pupil on?

Simple questions:
1-How did you adjust the center of the eye so easily and kept the curve?
2-What is that other mesh that shows up AFTER you make the adjustment (0:53)?
-----------
I use a number of programs. All provided free by the companies.
-Blender
-Bryce6 (limited givaway (and used for quick simple texture rendering)
-Make Human (Rarely used. Bogs down system WAY too much).
----
I'm looking into getting Maxell Render and Real Flow. For some reason Python cancels out Blender's Fluids w/me
SEspider 2 years ago
I think you're talking about the hard edges. Its something you can set on subDs in XSI
2-That's just a clear lens object that goes over the pupil. That's what gives that little spot highlight.

I'm not even through the manual yet, just up to modeling. whoo. My engineering degree was faster than this :)
