funny enough..in a weird sort of way, i actually think he's got a point there somewhere in that dribble about cupboards, marmelade, sex and violence o.O
just because you have won an oscar does not mean to say you are th ebest actor. They only command film roles not television and when it comes to bafta's i am almost cetrain that fry and laurie have them.
As for the sketch itself Fry was surprisingly convincing as a cockney cab driver and well worth the philosophy of sex and violence. Sadly no taxi driver is liek that with the best you can hope for is a conversation about the death of the good ol' greasy spoon because of nasty ol' starbucks.
Funny? Yes. British institutions? Most definitely.
The best actors Britain ever made? You may want to do a bit of research into the following people:
Laurence Olivier, Alec Guinness, John Gielgud, Charles Laughton, Ronald Colman, Michael Caine, Ben Kingsley, Peter Ustinov, Paul Scofield, Daniel Day-Lewis Jim Broadbent, Robert Donat, Anthony Hopkins, Jeremy Irons, David Niven...
All oscar winners and genuinely the best actors that Britian has ever produced.
@thesecretbet Strange that you never mentioned some of the most glorious tv actors, who for my money are every bit as good as those who are in films. David Jason could easily hold his own amongst the list you provided. He is a chameleon, and utterly believable. I recall that on numerous occasions I have been brought to tears simply from the intensity of the expression on his face. Still can't watch the Fools & Horses episode when his baby is born without blubbering.
why does he have to be a "cockney" taxi driver? i find that term very offensive. you could have just as easily said "a hardworking gentleman who may or may not reside or have grown up or spent most of his time as a child in the east end and carries a similar accent and culture indicative of that area"
put nob in marmalade

You take the marmalade out of the jar, smear it all over your body, and then have violent sex with the cupboard!!

Each time I watch this, That mustache bothers me, and until the 5th watching, I didn't realize that he doesn't have it at the start.

Yep, A whole bunch of golden globes (you can't win oscars for TV) definitely wouldn't put them on that list. :)

I would suggest you add Gary Oldman, who has not won an oscar, but definately belongs on this illustrious list.
I also think Stephen Fry belongs there...oscar or not.
