NO SPAM!!!!!!!! Hey guys! I'm a young photographer and Chase has inspired me alot to keep doing photography. It would mean alot if you could check out it and tell me what you think! It would mean so much if you checked it out! Thumbs up so Chase can see my comment and check out my photographs also. I would that. Thanks guys! :D
Love the video, awesome tricks. What lens would you reccomend for shooting video mostly indoor and at pretty close range maximum of 20 ft away from the subject? Would you recommend the nikon d7000?
Nice video, i have been deciding if buy the nikon 70-300 vr or the tamron 70-300 vc, which one would you recommend me? take into account that my budget is 500US and i would use it specially for wildlife photography.
@ForeverFire if you're rockin Nikon then go to white balance choose pre. but you will have to go to the menu and find PRE in the shooting menu and set it up when you go to choose it from the white balance setting hit the question mark (?) button and it'll let you know how to set it up! best of luck happy shooting
@ForeverFire go to shooting menu then go to whitebalance and then select PRE then it should say measure or use existing picture. select measure and it should pop up a message that says point camera at grey or white spot or something like that. once you measure it then you are good to go!
i will work with you one day mr jarvis im a student photographer atm but your work is so inspirational. im aussie but moving over to the states in a year or two working with you would be a dream come tru. i realise you probably have a thousand people lining up at your door but i will wait :D
what an awesome guy to take time out to make tutorial videos like this for everyone......talk about being unselfish ......thanks so much ....great videos!!!!!
How do you get the flare and keep the background well lit while keeping the subject well lit? I know increasing the aperture gives the flare look on light sources, but when you do that the subject becomes dim. Do you just have to have a powerful enough flash for it?
May have missed it but could you please indicate the lenses used when shooting. The cameras are always noted but I would REALLY appreciate knowing what lens you are using in each situation. Thanks so much for sharing your techniques.
Super Cool Stuff from the Super Man of Photography. This is going to ignite the Creative fire inside a lot of budding photographers. The Cheap Dolly DIY trick was fantastic. Thanks for posting very innovative stuff.
Hey Chase, let me start by saying that YOU ARE THE MAN!! Love your work! I have a small request, can you please do a video tutorial on a few tips and tricks for post processing on PS??? Man, your shots rock, but its the "seasoning" that you put on the during post processing that make them look dramatically cool!!!
Chace Jarvis...you the Bono of photography! Great videos man and TOTL tips. Great to see a top pro sharing great information and presenting amazing videos for all to see. You are an inspiration; keep up the worldclass work!!!
Have you got any names of lighting makes, seems that the broncolor equipment you use is well out of my price range haha, maybe £200-£300, thanks alot.. Your videos are great, really inspirational :)
When you say that your under exposing the background by 2 stops, does that mean that your using -0.7 EV, or are you using a shutter speed 2 stops lower than the metre in the camera says?
Awesome tips bro. Glad to see the professional world is catching up to it's poorer ranks. I keep telling a lot of shooters near me that you don't need as much as a national newspaper to make great and creative images.
I think your next step Chase is to open a college curriculum.
Just wondering, for the back lit shots (2 stop down with flash), is it going to be bad if I just use the on-board flash? I know its better off with a seperate flash coming from the side, but what if the on-board flash is the only thing available?
Any idea who makes that clamp? Great video also, just goes to show you that photography is more about the shooter and less about what gear you have. props
Can you explain what a " stop" is of the exposure. Is it the difference in aperture of like 5.6 to 8 or is it an aperture of 8 and going to 16.thanks for the lessons.
@tncphoto a "stop" is indeed the space between each of the traditional camera setting ... so yes, the difference btwn f5.6 and f8. and each such 'notch' to a higher number represents half of the amount of light hitting the camera sensor or film (note: can be achieved with aperture, shutter speed, and film speed).
@achaser123 wow the space...ha! it is the size of the opening of aperture they double in size as the lens closes... 2.8, 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16, 22, F/22 being the smallest opening...of this set, not of all! but this is not a good video for beginning,
Great tricks for pro feel. I saw at least 4 things I've wanted to do but never quite figured out or had what I thought was enough budget; you've shown that you can do them well within what I have or can pick up. And yes, I already shoot SD EXs (class 10) for hd 24/30fps (w/ T2i). Don't mind it being an ad too, none of us work for nothing when there are paying options that don't compromise our positions. Well done, Sir.
I have a question about the D90 video... When I edit my video in Premiere CS3 and export it, any movement from the subject becomes very blurry going from one frame to the next. It's not like this before editing so I know my SD card is getting all the frames.. Would really appreciate if you can shed some light on this.

@phototristan peel the stickers off of your memory cards so you don't get bothered buy the brand names on them...
With all the information you've made available thus far, it's difficult to understand how anyone could "not" support the efforts here. The shot of the PVC rig alone was priceless. I completely understand the plugs as the manufacturer's pay the bills..
I've seen a number of your videos including the workflow, great stuff and I can't speak for anyone else, but its inspirational and I'm extremely thankful for a glimpse into the professional world. Thanks and hope you keep it up.
