if the horse spooks and runs off 'tries to set off' whilst attached to anything other than a piece of string or specialist tying material she WILL hurt herself! She is string enough to pull the gate off it's hinges, and could seriously injure herself. Could even be fatal. I also would advise not tying a horse up when mounting.
However, wonderful instructional video! Thanks for position!
@BurcottGirls Thank you for you input and I'd agree with you if it was a solid knot, however, that's a slip knot which I showed how to do in a recent video. So, she's not tied in solid. In the event of a spook or what have you I could free her instantly. Also, my slip knots are tied in such a manner that if she tugged hard enough, she would break free anyway. Thanks for the compliment and keep on smilin' : )
@actionadventures I do understand, sorry I did not realise you had already made another video about the slip knot. You are completely right, and she seems to be getting on well, she is a beautiful horse by the way!
@BurcottGirls Thank you! But I think it's good that you brought all of this up. It's best when each part in this series can stand alone and ideally I would've indicated that I'm tying in with a slip knot (even though in a previous part I suggest one Always tie in with a slip knot.) So, we really both agree with each other and that shows that, at least in this case, we're not horsing around ; ) Thanks again! And yes indeed, Happy Horsing!
@BurcottGirls Also, I'm not intending to mount in this video. It's a pre-mounting routine, getting her used to the bridle, saddle, and somebody about to get on her. Again, you would be absolutely correct about not tying the horse when mounting : ) but again, I'm not doing that. Thanks again for commenting.
@lonewolf13scott You wouldn't find much. As soon as I put money in it, my kids shake me down for all of their activities. A trip to the movie theater, for example, will wipe me out big time ; )
Thank you, Linc! Thumbs up and favorited ! Appreciate very much your greetings to me too, and send you some back - Your horses are so beautiful, and so are your adds! Patrick
@AgentDoubleZero7 I greatly appreciate your good comment! Thank you! When I was first beginning, I never understood the bridle much either thinking that it rested on the teeth; however, it sits in a big gap between the teeth that makes one think that it was intentionally designed that way by God. Just a thought ; )
Excellent video! Very helpful. I find many important aspects for myself addressed in your videos. It's great to see and hear them expressed explicitly. As someone already said here - it helps gather pieces of a whole big picture.
Tizzy was certainly giving you a hard time ...She was not happy with the weight in the stirrup..Not quite ready for that...My heart went to my stomach one part ...thought she was gonna throw you a little side kick ...I have been thrown ...kicked ...bitten and foot walked on ...Not a good feeling..I had a fast reflex on that kick ...didn't get me good but good enough to feel pain...LOL..Horses do have a mind of their own and "going with the flow" really can pay off...and less pain!! :))
@jam2music Cool comment! Thank you! One of these days, when all of the parts are in place on this series, the viewer will realize I trained Tizzy in a matter of a few months, not 2 yor 3 years! : ) Indeed, the entire series with Tizzy was filmed within a few months, but to get the videos out mixed in with the other videos of the channel, it takes a lot of time. But, that's the plan. I like the channel to have a lot of variety and I like to dish it out little by little. Thanks again!
@Oty3d I know exactly what you're saying because I've noticed that, too. In my beginning years with horses, when I imitated that very casual and cool maneuver myself , I would get reprimanded by knowledgeable horse people. So much for the good-ol" days ; )
P.S. I suppose, perhaps, well-trained and behaved horses can be reliably tied in with the reins, but I do not officially state that. There are always worst-case scenario safety issues.
They say that patience is a virtue, but in this situation it's also a necessity. I love your respect for horses and your skills. To be honest with you, I can't wait to see you ride her, all your efforts will pay off n the end.
