As much as I hate saying this, but Finnick had to die. Mockingjay is all about war, and who are the majority of people who die? Young soldiers, maybe with a wife and kids. Finnick was the only one to have that, so he had to die to represent all the soldiers with children and partners who die in war. As with Prim's death that represented all the innocent lives lost at war, those who had no part in it but still died.
Well this video is set at the end of Mockingjay and it does tell of Finnick's death so I'd just assumed that people watching this had read Mockingjay. Sorry if I spoiled it for you!
Though lot of Catching Fire was spoiled for me when I watched a trailer for the first book because somebody was commenting saying 'omg this is awesome!' and then actually describe the whole of the book, including the quarter quell and some deaths, though of course this isn't your fault XD
