  • If the world is exploding and ending, this is the perfect song to listen to as it is happening and you are sitting there watching the world's last sunset and reminiscing on your life.

  • @dawghause Wow you're right..now if you think of it like that.. it does make this song much more interesting.

  • People might think its repetitive but I love songs like this with not much change, just beautiful music that lets your mind keep wondering with out it being interrupted by change in the music. Great.

  • its weird because i was just thinking when the song was a little over halfway that something needed to happen to raise you to that "next level" ya know lol, but then i read the uploader comments^^ and I see people agreeee.maybe they figure by the time you get to this track it's Zzzz sleep time.

  • Thanks Soma FM for introducing me to M83. Any long-time fans have a recommendation of which CD of theirs to pickup if I like this track. Obviously this is from Saturdays=Youth but wondering what a good starter would be.

  • i'm not high enough for this... yet :)

  • See, for this particular album, I like how it ends with this.

It's extremely calming, and if you're listening to the album before you go to sleep, this is like a goodnight lullabye for adults.

  • it is french, french people are dreamers so relax and pretend that you are french. One of France best band

  • This is in no way a filler track. The whole record is Anthony Gonzalez' illustration of youth in the 80's. This final track is the listener's moment to reminisce on the nostalgia of their youth.

  • The repetition makes it so beautiful. I don't believe for a second this song is "just a filler" because "the record label wanted another track"

    That's rat-shit.

This is so great, I don't think they could have ended with a better track. It's got the drone/ambient feel to it and that's exactly what they were going for. Not just wasting a track because they ran out of ideas, but broadening their horizons and having a different style/genre of music to close as opposed to the previous 10 tracks.

  • I don't know why you all are complaining, this is one of my favorite songs.

  • This is what I used to hear in my head when I was falling asleep as a little kid.

  • 4,444 views. <3

  • This song reminds me of when my mother used to caress my hair to get me to fall asleep as a child...pure calm.

  • @MrNemy86 When she stopped on my 37th birthday I was crushed.

  • Listen to this whole song and your freaking ears will bleed acid.

  • Walk drunk in the street at night after seeing a social circle with the girl or boy you love

    Then you'll understand this song.

  • This song isn't a waste of time at all. Listen to this as you fall asleep... then you'll understand the power of this track.

  • This is my favorite M83 song.

  • this is so atmospheric, I love it

  • can anyone suggest me other groups with this kind of sound (midnight souls still remain)?i love it..and to be honest, these almost 10 minutes aren't enough for me.

    thanks

  • @cerfsvolants Briano Eno... Daft Punk (certain tracks)... I'm afraid I don't know a lot of bands that perform in ambiance like this.

  • @elusivealbums thank you so much. i know already Brian Eno, but i´ll check daft!!thanks once again..really

  • @elusivealbums you guys may like Stars of the Lid and Hammock

  • @elusivealbums enya?

  • @cerfsvolants I can relate. Please let me know as well, ok?

  • @cerfsvolants There is a German artist called Gas. I'm looking for a download link at the moment, if i can't find one, i'll upload the album and let you know.

  • @colin4393 thanks a lot!!

  • @cerfsvolants I'll sending it too you in a message. Also, no problem.

  • @cerfsvolants Check out Disc 2 of Moby's Hotel album. It's a full set of 13-14 tracks (can't remember exactly) that are all very soft, gentle and ambient.

"Blue Paper" is a fantastic one. It doesn't have the same pad/cloud-like softness that Midnight Souls Still Remain does, but it achieves a similar calm through different sounds and instruments.

This + the song I just mentioned are my late-night work soundtracks. Sounds amazing to listen to when you know everyone else in the world is asleep.

  • @cerfsvolants Try:

Carbon based lifeforms (I suggest the songs world of sleepers, Flytta Dig, and Betula Pendula).

Junk Project - Composure (original mix)

    Steve Roach - Dreamtime Return

    James Holden - Kaern

B-Zet - The closed eye view (ambient version)

BT - All that makes us human continues

    many more ...

  • @cerfsvolants Loscil, Stars of the Lid, Gas & Biosphere. But they are better than this.

  • @cerfsvolants This song appears to be done in a formula called Solfeggio Harmonic. Search here on Youtube for Solfeggio Harmonic and you will have hundreds of songs like this to listen to.

Also, try music by Jonn Serrie, Rudy Adrian and Pete Namlook. Music by these three artists is ambient spacey and very cool.

Oh, and try OTT, especially their song The Queen Of All And Everything.

    Enjoy :)

  • @cerfsvolants:

Teen Daze, SlowDive, My Bloody Valentine, Atlas Sound, Deerhunter, Memory House, Rae Cassidy and if you want more email me at

    xopenmyeyesx@yahoo.com

this song was an original idea, not very many have chosen to step this far.

good luck on your search, I've been searching for years.

  • @cerfsvolants Imogen Heap!

  • @cerfsvolants stars of the lid is good just try brian eno on pandora radio

  • @cerfsvolants have you tried Sigur Ros? Try and get hold of their untitled album, looks like this () and listen to tracks 1, 2, 3, and 4 all in a row..

  • @cerfsvolants Sigur Ros

  • @cerfsvolants I haven't quite found anything with this sound, but I would recommend Carbon Based Lifeforms a lot.

  • @cerfsvolants something like this is kinda similar

    watch?v=HJe7oT3J798

  • @cerfsvolants Check out William Basinski, Bvdub, Andrew Thomas, Loscil, Mountains, or Oneohtrix Point Never. Especially William Basinski, though. His music is loop-based and it captures that same sense of melancholia and nostalgia that is in this track.

  • @cerfsvolants Alias (Album: Muted), Alias & Ehren (Album: Lillian), Brian Eno...

  • @cerfsvolants Washed Out, Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Beach House, Blockhead.

  • @cerfsvolants Eluvium and Jakob

  • @cerfsvolants Sigur Ros, Mogwai, even Dj Shadow or UNKLE or Massive Attack, Some of Gorillaz stuff can be like this, Also Ladytron, Bloc Party etc.

  • @cerfsvolants Fuck Buttons

  • @cerfsvolants look up geotic...better known as baths...artists name is will wiesenfeld

  • @cerfsvolants

You might like asobi seksu if you like other M83 songs

however, for a song like this, a lot of old New Age music is similar. Nik Tyndall and Giles Reaves for that.

  • @cerfsvolants

    look into

    Explosions in the sky

    Jared Funari

    Sigur Ros

youll be able to find some really good stuff by anyone one of those three artists

  • @cerfsvolants If you still care, the album Pop by Gas is a lot like this

  • @cerfsvolants Check out 009 Sound System. They're fucking AMAZING!

  • @cerfsvolants Stars of the Lid, Really nice Ambient/ Drone, if you like this track, you will like that.

  • @cerfsvolants explosions in the sky, godspeed your black emperor, the album leaf. Check those out. Godspeed has some 20 min plus tracks. Enjoy!

  • @cerfsvolants carbon based lifeforms

  • @cerfsvolants Grouper, The Sight Below, The Orb, Fennesz

  • @cerfsvolants try Maps. I think it's quite similar to M83. In case you want something purely instrumental, The Polar Dream is really relaxing :)

  • @cerfsvolants a bunch of Boards of Canada songs are deep, rich ambient sounds, check out the song Corsair.

  • I know it's the same thing the whole track, but it's my favorite next to We Own the Sky.

I'd go night driving to this :D

  • Its the same all the way through, such a waste of a track.

  • @KeaneAddict Yet somehow it's the most popular M83 track I have uploaded. Heaven knows why. It's a good song if you're studying or trying to sleep or whatnot, but actively searching for it...

  • @elusivealbums i actively searched for it, because when i listen to "Dark moves" (another track which gets trashed on youtube) ends with the beginning tones of this. And i love it.

  • @KeaneAddict It's only a waste to those that do not understand the musical formulation and purpose of a song like this. Serach for Solfeggio Harmonics and you will then understand what this song is and why M83 left it as the last song on the album. It is a spiritual gift to their listeners...to you.

  • @KeaneAddict i started skating to this last night "coincidentally" a minute before it went on in my headphones, i must say one of my favorite times skating ever. i put on night time by the xx after was perfection

  • This song is very simple but it's also very beautiful.

Makes me want to lay out on my roof and stare at the stars all night.

  • Oh, that track is amazing, isn't it?

But 6 minutes through, I wondered if I'd just been listening to it on repeat. Full credit though.

  • The record label obviously wanted "one more song..." on the album, aha.

This is total filler. Nice, though.

  • I'm not so sure. In "Before the Dawn Heals Us," there is a epic 10-11 minute track, "Close Your Eyes to Die with the Sun." But that track is far, far more engaging than this one.

  • @elusivealbums the track you are referring to is actually named "lower your eyelids to die with the sun"

  • @Jemgrover Doubt that highly, as Anthony is a huge fan of Ambient music and this is just another one of his ambient tracks, if you check out Digital Shades Vol.1 that is also a purely ambient album with no drums at all.
