  • Hi Steve, not a big fan of iPhone games either but this looks pretty good. Unfortunately I am biased as I absolutely love OutRun! It just a pick up and play game that works so well! Do you know of any other good OutRun clones?

  • This game will be the first one i get when i got internet on my mobile phone (Samsung Galaxy S2), it looks like so much fun!

  • Cheers for putting me onto FF, Steve. Luvin' it.

  • Great price for a decent game.

Question.. Are there game console emulators for the iPhone??

  • @AfroedNinja Not free ones, or anything that supports downloaded roms... at least, not on un-jailbroken iPhones.

  • I tried a game on my friend's phone, and the controls felt weird.I am sooooo happy that psn is back up!

  • Almost everything was lifted from Outrun!

  • Great find Steve, just downloaded the lite version and I'm loving it. Incidentaly, watching this video on an iphone is kind of strange, like looking at a mirror in a mirror or somthing.

  • your trying to seduce me so i sub arnt you

  • @WEDDINGROYAL Yes! Yes I am. Wait.... who are you again?

  • This looks great Steve shameless rip-off of Outrun indeed but who cares its awesome!

  • @jboypacman My thoughts exactly :)

  • Couple of problems for me. 1) Touchscreen controls 2) No 'Magical Sound Shower'.

The first one could be fixed if it's also out on Android with the 'Xperia Play' ( a phone I want very much). But still, no proper Outrun music is a fail for me :(

  • @a3HeadedMonkey Touchsreen controls suck, so I'm totally with you there. The music... I think they'd have no defence at all regarding copyright infringement if they used the proper music. Mind you, I must be one of the very few people who actually doesn't care about the music one way or the other on the original game :)

  • @a3HeadedMonkey It supports itunes music!

  • That looks quite good! I'd play that if they released it onto the PC.

  • @BlooditeDrakan I would definitely benefit from the proper controls you could expect on a PC game :)

  • love outrun - i'll be spending 59p later, thanks for heads up on this one Steve

  • @ukretrogameaddict Glad to be of service :)

  • I would like to see a Reliant Robin racing game... That would be hilarious XD

  • I would like to see a Roliant Robin racing game... That would be hilarious XD

  • @Trevguy00 Yes, that would be a good laugh :)

  • I think the expanding arena of platforms for games is great. The games on phones are simple enough for small indie teams or even individuals to have an opportunity to make games for a living. It doesn't all have to rest in the hands of giant companies who would keep gaming samey and sterile. I expect we'll see some great innovations on platforms like these, as well as shameless rip offs.

  • @JimPlaysGames I agree entirely. Between phones and indie/psn (when it works) downloads, gaming from "the little guy" has never looked better. I do wish they'd sort out the quality control a bit though, as there's plenty of entirely broken tat out there that simply shouldn't have been released.

  • Might have to pick this one up for my iPhone 4. Looks like a fun game.

  • @MyOtherCareer It's the best game I've played on it so far. Though that's not many :)

  • Maybe a Reliant Robin vs. Morris Minor street racing game on the 3ds?

  • @MrBacchus18 That definitely sounds like fun :D

  • I have never been a fan of portable gaming on matter what system I did it on as I always found the screen to be to small for my taste. Outrun Kicked ass in the 90's

  • @MrStephen182 I must admit, with my age impaired eyesight, I'm finding the small screen quite difficult to deal with.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm still undecided whether I think most phone based games can be considered "proper" gaming, but it has to be said that these tilt controlled racer types can be very moreish :) I'm currently semi-addicted to a free Android one called Speedx, but I don't know if you can get it on iphone. Simple honest gameplay can sometimes be quite refreshing after playing some modern mainstream titles.

  • @Ensor42 It's a tricky one. I think some of the games that're designed specifically with touch or tilt in mind can be considered proper games (Super Monkey Ball comes to mind). Pity I just don't like those kind of games. The rest I find so terribly compromised that they're more like a homage to a proper game, than a game in their own right.

  • How about if they added a Morris minor race on gran turismo with the addition of both the car and the mini van version of the Morris minor, could all be done under the seasonal events category, I also have final freeway it's gr8 game And it's sooo an outrun look a like

  • @bmc159 I'd love that :D

  • Wow such a rip off lol

  • @amurphy245 Yeah, but such a good one :)

  • OUT RUN !!!

  • @haulkamania That sums it up quite well :)

  • looks great my sister has an ipod touch so i have tried games on it .

  • @paulb4uk It's definitely worth a play or 20 :)

  • Sega would have sued, or got this removed back in the 90s and 80s, but I guess they won't this time.

It looks nice a really nice game, and definitely a must-have for racing fans at only 59p. If I get an iPhone/iPad, I'll buy it. Thanks for showing it offf, Steve.

  • @kingstonlj I wonder if Sega are even aware of it. Or Ferrari, come to think of it.

  • just downloading this game, looks really like fun! Thank mate!

  • @kraut1x I hope you like it as much as I do :)

  • I wonder if it works with an iControlPad. Looks like a really nice clone graphically but the music is not in the same league.

  • @shaurz I agree about the music. I don't know about pad controls, as I believe the alternative control method is swiping, as opposed to a virtual D-pad. I could be wrong though.

  • it does look like a nice Outrun clone lol!

  • @Jago666 It's a lot of fun. I still haven't got off the 2nd level though... lol.

  • @SteveBenway all you need now is to be able in insert magical sound shower into the game on BINGO! outrun(ish) for 59p XD, final freeway looks that convincing none of the outrun music would seem out of place

  • Cool game but did anyone else feel a little dizzy watching this. :)

  • @LeightonW87 Not me :)

  • Looks like a nice little clone of outrun. May have to save up and shell out the huge amount of 59p to buy it.... :0)

  • @Retr0Rewind Yeah, that's a big payout... lol :)

  • Final Freeway looks like Turbo OutRun! Exelent speed there! I hope they do this game on the Samsung Galaxy S II as well.

  • @musicmaniac1965 They do this for Android, so if the Samsung uses that, you should be in luck :)

  • @SteveBenway Exelent news, it uses Android, so i'm certainly going to check this one out!

  • Looks like this is on Android as well. Might have to check it out. It only costs $1.26, but I've actually gotten used to most of the apps being free.

  • @Croooow111 I know what you mean. I tend mostly to just go for the free stuff, but once in a while something looks worth paying for :)

  • Just downloaded the iPad version, really nice. Cheers Steve.

  • @LeShark75 Glad to be of service :)

  • I cant stand anything apple related. I've never spent any money on apple and I never will. The least amount of time my brain spends "procesing" apple related information the better. Having said that this game looks very nice :D lol

  • @TheWeepingCorpse I have my iPhone in a nice leather case most of the time, so you can't tell it's an Apple. I'm not a fan of them, but, eh... a nice gadget is a nice gadget... and it really is a very nice gadget :)

  • @TheWeepingCorpse cool story

  • Nice sensation of speed... is all you need!

  • @THOMASSU63 Absolutely :)

  • @xTHExSTIGx It plays just as well as you'd hope an Outrun game would... which is pretty damn good :D

  • It's more than a clone, that's a shamefully close rip-off. Personally, I couldn't bring myself to pay to support such blatant theft. Shouldn't even be allowed to be on sale.

  • @retread01 Heh, see, I like the shamelessness of it. Gaming was like that back in the 8 bit days :)

  • The game looks hot!!! If I ever get an iod touch, I will have to download this game.

Forgive me for being American and/or ignorant when it comes to cars (since I don not drive at all myself) but what is a Morris Minor? Did I spell that correctly?

  • @neojake999gamer A Morris Minor is an old British car. Very slow, kind of ugly, and the estate (station wagon) model had a wooden frame. There'll be loads of images on google :)

  • Steve have you got Out Run on the GBA, the SEGA Classics thing with Hang On on to, it's arcade perfection.

  • @28steryan Yes, I have that, and it does indeed rock. The question is... if I was out, and had both the GBA Micro with Sega compilation, and this, in my pocket... which would I play?

    ***Head explodes***

  • The only thing I did not like about this game is that the car does not flip over when you crash to the sides. It just has a weird feeling about that. I feel like I'm playing Out Run bet then I'm not.

  • @mp4podcastDOTcom Hmm... I hadn't even thought of that. I guess I'm not enough of a purist for it to bother me. Perfectly valid point though :)

  • Do people seriously game on the iphone or ipad? I played dead space on the Ipad 2 for about half an hour and couldnt hit shit, far too much effort.

  • @RiFFxxx I don't imagine serious hardcore gamers viewing it as a proper gaming platform, but sometimes, you can be away from home with time to kill, and then it's ability to play games can be a real blessing :)

  • wow, I really like this!

  • @nukinetix It's a lot of fun :D

  • Never had an iPhone (none of that stuff appeals to me), but I have to admit - that game does look nice.

And really good price! Definitely one I'd get if I had an iPhone.

  • @laffer35 I was in two minds about the iPhone for ages. I love gadgets, but aren't a fan of Apple. Now I have the thing, I love the gadgetyness of it, but still don't see it as a proper gaming platform... but it does throw up the odd gem that's definitely worth a play :D

  • The iPhone is quite nice gaming novelty! A lot of the times the controls do suck in games but on quite a few games it works pretty good.

It is indeed a shameless ripp-off of Outrun and it does it really well! :P

  • @markvergeer Gotta love a good rip-off :D

I don't think I'll ever view the iPhohe as a real gaming platform, but it does seem to throw up the odd gem that'd be worth playing on the bus/train or whatever.

  • Yeah, its a fun little toy isnt it. Ive got final freeway as well on my iphone, cost me $2 lol, sounds like you got a better deal on that for sure. some good drivin through the camera there Steve. I thought the same thing about outrun when I saw it but I liked the way it played.

  • @lukemorse1 Yup, it's an obvious clone, but being a brit of my age, I grew up with umpteen clones of big name games on home computers. So this kind of thing is a nostalgia trip on more than one level :D

  • i have this game on my ipad and ruls

  • @nunonikus I can believe it :)

  • Saw your video loved it and went to see if I could get for andoid. Bought it :-) mind it`s cheaper on iphone :-( , still brill game , thanks for doing this vid and bringing it to my attention.

  • @manspam1 Glad to have been of service :)

  • Unfortunately I don't have an iPhone- I have one of those crappy HTC Wildfire thingies. If you don't have an iPhone, well... you don't have an iPhone.

    Game looks rad.

  • @FaxanaduJohn Apparently this is on Android too.

  • Love how the game screen stays level even though your tilting the iPhone left and right.

  • @LeShark75 Yeah, that makes a lot of difference to the gaming experience :)

  • I love the graphics on this.

  • @svcxac Super fast sprites FTW :D

  • For the price of a back of Wotsits, you simply cannot fail here!

  • Sega need to pull their finger out and get pukka OutRun (1986 & 2006) on the iPhone.

  • @Gregz0r1 I'm quite surprised they haven't, now you mention it.

  • I would always go for the PSP or one of my Gameboy's for gaming but the Ipods nice to have in a pinch.

  • @TheEPROM9 Yup, I find I'm more likely to have an iPhone in my pockey than a PSP, if not a GBA Micro. It's nice to have the choice though :)

  • The Ipod/phone is not a bad device for games. Much better than similar devises. Although I don't think anyones made a device the same size as a PSP that is more powerful.

  • @TheEPROM9 I haven't really explored the power of the iPhone, so don't know how well it compares with other handhelds. The controls hold it back so badly that I can't take it very seriously, whatever it's capable of graphically. It does seem to have the odd gem that's worth a play though :D

  • Looks like really good value for money. I have seen much worse games being sold on PSP or NDS for full game price.

  • @Polaventris Yeah, for 59p, you really can't go wrong :D

  • Oooh looks fab ! I think I'll grab a copy of that one. Anything Outrun shaped is ok with me :-)

Remember Morris Minor & The Majors??? "St st st st st st st stutter rap !!"

    Ah the 80's...... *sob*

  • @mathowlett I remember the name, but thankfully, not what they sounded like :D

  • its like outun portable, is this just an endurance game?

  • @emojo1990 I haven't checked out the other options yet, so I don't know :)
