alas PB has not made a deffinate conclusion. As mentioned before there are lost of theories, but nothing concrete. The Cat was pretty much destroyed. Cpl of tracks, frame and engine block was all that remained. I was part of the team that dragged it off the hill. It was a pretty crazy sight.
The operator smelled "something burning" and by the time he tried to grab the fire ext. the cab was filling with smoke, he bailed, and within seconds the Cat was fully involved.
To some of the nice people who were kind enough to leave a comment, I will address the "second pass" comment. While sometimes it is nessesary to make a decision to drive extremly slow or "double pass" in certain conditions on the "wet coast", ie; -2 cel. fresh snow to plus five pouring rain, night fall temps drop to -5. "Going off" is the term we use. Your work is cut out for you. Here, if you look at the picture you can see the Cat is "eating wind rows". The Cat in the background is the boss.
Pistenbully, Prinoths Bombardier. They all rattle, the satellite radios still lose signal, the wipers kind of work, we all smell of D T E. I'd like a power passenger side window and a little tree air freshener every now and then.
Good points. I would like it if the side window defrost wasn't connected to the side rearview mirror. Although I try and keep the "go go juice" in the tank.
Typical pistenbully bullshit. Always breaking down, the aluminum tracks don't stick worth shit, and now this! That's why I quit my grooming job, all the other guys but me rolled in bomby prinoths.
Tell Dave that the operator was likely just sick of driving the piece of shit! That's what we should have done will the whole works of them at Panorama.
Kässbohrer hasn't bought their glue from Ferrari for a "special" price lately have they? :-)

What engine did yours have? And how new was yours? Ours had a 1,000 hrs on it.

@Lsam30
Hi Lsam30.
I would have to check, but I'm sure it was the 300 Mercedes.
Cat was a cpl of season old, so I would guess @ 2000 hrs. Not sure.
iceisnice61 1 year ago
We had a almost new Park Bully get hot just like that one.
Kass still hasn't replaced it for us yet.

What caused the fire?

To this day "Kass" has not nailed it down.

Wow, strange... Do you know if that model of PB (300?) has a record of this??
WobblingHobGoblin 2 years ago
Hi WobblingHobGoblin (cool handle) As far as i know no other PB 300 has 'spontainously combusted.'
Very strange indeed.
Take Care
iceisnice61 2 years ago
Hehe, thanks... The handle was inspired by one of my favorite ales..'HobGoblin' by Wychwood breweries in the UK... Drink and commence to wobbling!
It takes a skilled groomer to speak of ice so lightly! :D
I like your handle also!
peace

What I noticed is that right up to the end this cat was leaving a perfect pass. Way to pay attention to quality grooming!

Thanks, I told the operator of your comment. He appreciates it.

Hey cbendersao. It isn't difficult to leave a perfect pass when you are grooming up a pass that has already been groomed even if you are in PB junk
MEBRGIRL 3 years ago
Those passes always do look better the second time around, regardless of the color of the cat!

When Kassbohrer used the advertising slogan 'Fire in Red' I dont think this is what they meant!

Wow!
I like the part where the "Cat operator" was defined seperate from "human" and "animal".
They are a different breed now aren't they.

djtoonraider666 4 years ago
To this day Kassboher has not been able to positivly identify the cause. Not for a lack of trying that is for sure.
