Danny Dolinger is one of my favorite songwriter's, I had the honor of singing background harmony on this song on his first CD "Rome Wasn't Burnt In A Day", along with my friend Mary Link. .in turn he played on my song "Mad Desolation" on my "Laughing Like A Banshee" CD. ..check out Danny's website and buy some of his music, I have literally worn out copies of his albums

Tom, OMG, is this fabulous?!!! Big props to Danny for his song...incredible lyrics (gotta check out the originator on his MySpace...thanks for the info about that) And you VOICE is the best I've ever heard...are you using a different recording software or system? Very pro! Time for a CD, I think, Tom...seriously! Happy Holidays to you and your family!
My name is Danny Dolinger and I wrote that song! Excellent job, thank you. Sammy Parton from the Tanya's just sent me the link. I'm honored that you liked it enough to do a video. Hope you will check out my site on myspace, there's more stuff there. God rest ye, Merry Gentleman!
I'm embarrassed I didn't credit you (sorry will correct the oversight, I always try to research enough to get the writer right, oops).
Anyhow, I'm more than flattered that you like my interpretation. I became obsessed with the Tanya's version and had to try my hand at it. It's very moving and I enjoy inhabiting the emotional landscape of the song.
Will check out your MySpace - you're very talented, no doubt!
Hello Danny. I am glad that you appreciated Tom's performance of your wonderful song. Tom is a wonderful man who respects songs and only sings them if he feels them in his heart!!!!
Ground control to major Tom, take your protien pills and put your helmet on!!...We're loving it(Charlie and I) much luv from your frozen neighbours to the north...origato mate.
Wow Tom!!! What a brilliantly emotional delivery . this song is a heartbreaking and ,brutally honest commentary that an awful lot of people need to hear. Unfortunate that most of them will not listen.
P.S. And I thought I was the only one who knew about the Be Good Tanyas.
Yay, thanks, John! It took a while to work out my arrangement and to be able to play it without being overcome by emotion. I cannot help but recall the adage 'There but for the grace of God go I'. We, none of us, are immune from falling towards that dark edge, I believe.
Heh, thnaks, man! My arrangement is very different than the Be Good Tanyas's - they're all girls plus there's more than one of them while I am only one rapidly aging boy. ;-)

Thnaks alot, Joy! Yeah, isn't this an amazing song?!?! Everyone should check out more of Danny's work - absolutely stunning!
Yeah, I think I'm sounding better than ever on this recording, too. Same setup, same software - serendipity conspired to make it sound pretty good!
Thanks again for all your support for this rapidly aging boy who only wants to sing his little heart out! <3

just curious, aren't you a little suspicious that this is not the real guy?
zenhill 4 years ago
Huh? How can it not be him? It says his name right there. Right there on the YouTubes.
Oh, I see - it might be a liar. Hmm. Wow, that's an odd thing to lie about (but then i suppose liars are an odd lot).
Huh. Well, I hope he replies to my note at MySpace.
Holy crap if that guy's a liar and the real guy hates my cover, i'll... i'll... i'll have learnt a lesson then (one would hope).

I agree with you 100% Tom.I know how hard it can be to sing ( and get through) certain songs. Dan's song "Old Drunkard" has a similar theme to it.
Well done Tom!!!
