  • Traps of this nature are NOT baited laxguitar!

  • awesome, i will definitly use this spring snar technique this winter.

  • Is that a kabar

  • look out for that dog!!!!

  • Next time show us how to make the whole thing

  • Couldn't another animal just come up to it and eat it then since its just stuck there?

  • couldn't the animal die from its neck snapping since it has alot of force when it is jerked up?

  • @tarheel550 thats the point to eat it

  • @psychoguy1017 Well i am asking when it is jerked up will it die or will it strangle and yeah im going to eat it why else would i make the snare?

  • doggyy!!!!!!!!!

  • I LIKE HOW YOU SAID INSERT IT AND BANG IT INTO THE GROUND

  • Fail ! i've been at this much too long ... . ! the mecanism does work but you have to be on a creatures trail and guide it to your snare and they never have side-by-side trails ! , using fishing line shows me you have very little experience catching things buddy ! sorry , the video is good but you are gonna go hungry ! Hahahahahah !

  • How about placing a sign for squirrels in front of this trap: "single ride - 20 nuts, double ride - 5 nuts. Save your nuts for winter, bring a friend! "

  • pretty cool

  • An 18" steel leader is Great for this trap....rated at 45#s and the noose slips very easy....Just a Thought;-)

Also...I would use Bank line instead of para cord!

  • i learned to break branchs this way when i was 9 all i had was a dull small pocket knife and yet i chpped through 1 1/2 inch trees/ branchs

  • WOLF! no... dog, sorry

  • why would you remove the bark?

  • @bluelagoon10023 because, it slips of easier without bark

  • nice one

  • that is not a good trap..asian trap is the mos accurate andt effective than this.

  • less resistance when you jam it to the ground? hehe i'd leave the bark on so once its in the ground it'd have MORE resistance going up!

  • 1:15

  • it's perfect except the notch should be a bit less deep. Besides that I give this trap two thumbs up. :)

  • you could probably make this design more sensitive by using a longer stick for the cross piece, but keep the Y the same size..

  • i use spider wire 80lbs and man it's the best.

  • i had made a type of trap kind of like this about 2 months ago trying to catch this fox or raccon killing my familys chickens. problem is i guess im stronger/was more pissed off then most people would get and the trap decapitated our neighbors cat. the neighbor lived half a mile. needless to say i felt bad and decided id use no kill traps. shit that was a stupid cat

  • @knifecollector93 we had the same problem but it was attacking our dog so we could not trap it but after my older bro's hunting trip the fox never came around again... my bro also got a fox from that trip what are the chances?

  • probly 1 in a million lol. ive actualy stopped trapping due to traps either not having enough power or the neighbors still being pissed off about their cat. since then ive gotten a .22 bolt action and have bagged a few squirrels/rabbits. still looking for the neighbors other cat...same color as a squirrel so i can only take 100% target shots..such a pain in the ass.

  • ehh tree spring noose, or a twitch up is much more reliable, but fun to make.

  • how do you make the "y" knot

  • i set one us under a tree by using a bendy branch insted of a young sapling, using it this way makes it go about 5 and a half feet off the ground so no animals can reach it after the snare goes off

  • nice trap i havent sen it before

  • or instead of building this big contraption with 1 chance because of the the stick being dislodged you can just make a bunch of snares and hang them from fallen branches and you will get more chances

  • can you use just string?

  • i make ones that do the same thing but the sapling i use is bigger and when it sets of its snaped the eg:rabbits neck

  • Can we just use wire instead of fishing wire? And will it work for ratcoons and opposims?

  • Spring poles are no good here. They freeze into the shape you bend them to.

    Use a counter weight instead

  • lot of Xplntion, but 4 me it ddnt work. lol

  • instead of cutting the live tree you can just simply bend it over and set the trap right there but the downside is that you dont get to choose where to set it

  • great help. thanx

  • why didnt you just snap the tree

  • its because young living tree have a lot of eleastic properties unlike how you would snap dead twigs

  • yer but it still looked like he snapped it more than he cut it

  • This trap will also lift the trapped animal out of the reach of many animals which would eat it if it was still on the ground or close enough to it.

  • hahahah u said fishing wine

  • if u use thin wire it kills them i put them over rabbit holes

  • thats awsome!!!! add me?

  • like some random game is gonna come into the wire and pull the thing down u need to have bait on it somehow

  • Ah....yes they do

  • have u tried it and it worked?

  • have you Lax? if you place these, or any type of noose/slip trap, across game trails bait is often not needed.. you just need to look for the trails and hope for the best.

    nice job ryanjcus

  • @ryanjcus game trail right?

  • It's all about location. Where you set your trap. Rabbits look for the narrowest escape route. If you set your trap in front of a thin, heavily used trail then it doesn't matter if you bait or not. I set out a simple snare in front of a hole with a piece of bamboo, steel wire, and an old combat boot lace. Next morning I had a rabbit, already dead, around the neck. He was hauling ass to his hole and got snagged. Placement is a big part in trapping.

  • @laxguitar50 you set this sort of trap on an animals run; at the right height and size acording as to what you want to catch.

  • @laxguitar50 thats why you put it on a game trail bud. thats there natural path where your game is going to walk anyways.

  • another way to cut a tree really fast is bend it like he did then just whack the bent part with the blade of your knife it snaps it instantly. o yea this is coming from a 12 year old i learn't this myself when i went on a survival with cadets and we had to make half shelters (and sleep in them).

  • rule number one, charge your camera before making a demonstration video.

  • hmm its very basic... i would say the trigger is to strong... you need it to be at least under 4 ounces of pull.. that is at least 2 pounds of pull to engage the spring

  • does this choke the rabbit to death or what im new at this

  • nice shepherd

  • isnt a a coil trap better? i mean you have likely more instant death. what are the chances of a rabbit getting struck by this?

  • that was very informative.

    Thanks

  • i bet u like that stick between your legs

  • Yes this is legal, this is a very good trap I've just tested it and it works fine,

  • Great Video

  • Nice setup man. I'm gonna try this out on my granpa's line i the summer :)

  • you should make your notch more sensitive

  • It's perfect the way it is. If I were to make is looser it would come undone in the wind or bad weather. This trap would have no problem catching an animal. Remember the loop goes around it's neck then it will naturally struggle.

  • it is in some states

  • is that legal to hunt in the spring

  • awe papa

  • so when it comes off with the rabbit or watever in it will snap its neck when it pops off the knoch

  • Hey bud great vid, but the one thing that needed to be explained about the trap wasn't. Alot of people wouldn't know that u need to find i active game trail to put the snare on. But great vid though.

  • shes a pretty dog and she even looks protective and intelligent notice her looking and sniffing my dog would just howl all night lol!

  • Nice! You should make it more hairpin though.

  • Great snare, Ryan. Thanks for sharing helpful information!

  • did anyone see the dog at 3:12 because i did!

  • That is my German Shepherd, "Shadow". Shadow is usually w/me. She is very loyal, protective , and intelligent. An excellent outdoor companion. Thanks :)

  • Great video Ryan. I will have to try that. I need to learn snaring better.

  • this could come pretty handy in a bad situation... 5/5 stars man!
