@MRSPANKY405 Yeah, it was massive alright. Burned a ton of gas and weighed as much as a sack of bricks as well. We recently replaced this blower with a Stihl BR600 Magnum blower and while it's not quite as powerful as this beast, it is so much more comfortable and saves a lot of money on gas.
@MRSPANKY405 I agree, the EBZ8001 was in a league of its own but the weight is just too much to wear for 8 hours a day. I'll sacrifice the power for the almost 50% weight reduction of the Stihl. Trust me, I'm no fan of Stihl but it was honestly the best deal around. $399 + tax is a steal. Especially considering that new Shindaiwa was close to $600.

Meh. This thing looks like junk. i know this is comparable to the BR600 from Stihl but for my money there is no comparison. Stihl all the way. Much easier to get parts and I have never heard of a Stihl blowing the motor like you stated above.
@Digitalbumpin It wasn't junk at all. Redmax USED to make some very good blowers - unbeknownst to me, right before I purchased this blower, Redmax changed hands and started using sub-par materials and such.
FYI Stihls have been known to eat the valves on their 4-mix engines. We had two line trimmers and a set of hedge clippers do this on us. It was covered under warranty but still, it's not like Stihl is free of faults.
This blower died on us last week. The motor essentially exploded (side of the crankcase ripped open after the connecting rod failed). However, this was after many hundreds of hours of hard use, and prior to this it never required any work whatsoever. Heck, we never even had to change the air filter - just had to clean it! So while it did only last just short of three years - those three years were as hard as they come.
Awesome video man. Nice machine. You should definitely do a fall cleanup video with it, that would be awesome. I'm a lawncare company owner, just starting out and I'm thinking about buying this machine or a Shindaiwa eb802. Btw, NIce song at the end, one of my favs. Peace
Honestly, from what I can tell, it's all about personal preference. With the Shindaiwa you'll be looking at a more powerful gust of wind coming from the tube due in part to a smaller opening. With the RedMax you'll be getting less power but more volume of air. This translates into the Shindaiwa being good for blowing pinestraw and such out of grass and the RedMax being good for blowing a large volume of leaves. If you like Stihl, the BR600 is on par with the RedMax EBZ8001. :)
Hey I have this same exact model. The throttle on mine does not go full power immediately like yours does. It takes about 30 seconds for it to actually go full power . Could this have something to do with the screw above the choke control? Is that the fuel to air adjustment? I don't know the proper terms for this.
@ThreeBallz It depends. Are you talking about right after the first time you start it after not having been run for a while or every time regardless of whether it's been running for an hour or 10 seconds?
If it's the former, it just needs to warm up first. If it's the latter, it's likely either your fuel filter is clogged, the spark arrestor (screen that covers the exhaust port) is clogged, or the actual exhaust port on the side of the motor is filled up with residue. Check those things first.
If you have Husqvarna they have an identical model. Not sure what it's called but the only difference is the Husqvarna blower is orange instead of red like this one. It's otherwise identical.
i like the oversized air filter like the one on the b&s 3.5 i/c on the scarifier for longer engine life but the makita 4 stroke backpack would kick its ass
What I have found to be true about 4-stroke small equipment is the price difference and cost of maintenance isn't enough to justify buying one. Sure, when gas was 6 dollars a gallon it would have been nice but still.
Makita you say? That kinda sounds like a home owner brand blower, you know, the same company that makes power drills. Do you have a link or something? I'd like to see what you're referencing. Thanks.
Considering Echo's "Premier" backpack blower weighs roughly the same as the Redmax here and produces no more than half the power of the EBZ8001, I'd say you're wrong about Echo. Echo is good stuff no doubt, I use their line trimmers.
Also, Husqvarna's most powerful two-stroke blower is no more than a re-brand of the EBZ8001, it looks -exactly- the same.
Do you have an idea what you're talking about, or do you just try to create drama? I can't imagine someone that would review a Homelite would.
Well, then the EBZ8001 is a re-brand of the Husqvarna, but it's irrelevant, they're still one in the same. Ford & Mercury cars are exactly the same, just different names.
Nope, I use the new orange/black Echo. I forget the model but its their new line. I used to have a redmax but it was a 2nd or 3rd hand and had already been used (and abused) a lot before I got it. It lasted me about 2 years before it finally gave out, connecting rod broke. Upon inspecting the inside of the cylinder I found an unusual amount of wear. I believe the people before me were using the wrong oil to fuel ratio.
I USE IT DUE TO ITS LIGHT WEIGHT. I HAVE TO LOOK INTO THE ECHO. BUT THE REDMAX IS BETTER ON THE WRIST AND ARM AS COMPARED TO THE STIHL. Thanks for the info.
What do you expect out of a brand new, high displacement, two stroke?
Trust me, barring the necessary back pressure (pressure inside the muffler) for a two stroke to run properly, the less a motor is muffled, the more power it's going to make. I'd rather get another .5 horses out of my blower and have to wear earplugs than be able to carry on a conversation while blowing leaves. Catch my drift? You should be wearing ear protection anyway...the volume of a blower should never be a consideration.
Nice piece of equipment, but why so loud? That thing rattles, especially on the startup. I've seen those things used by landscapers and they look impressive, but it just isn't worth it for the average user IMO. Oh yeah...... why was is so hard to move the shoe the 2nd time? Peace out bitches!
It is the most powerful blower on the market today, as far as backpacks go. I've tried the Stihl BR600 and it's almost as powerful as the RedMax but...it's still not the RedMax. If you don't mind carrying around 30lbs on your back for a while then I say get it. The 7100 isn't nearly as powerful.
The key is in the high volume of air that the blower puts out is that What ait Volume means and how can I figure out how much will that help me with fall clean ups? how fast will I get done on a normal size lot
Well, I got it for $450 + 6% sales tax, but that's because the dealership was within a mile of RedMax HQ. Expect to pay at minimum 500, and as much as 600 in some places. It's definitely worth it.

The Shindaiwa blowers burn a LOT more gas and aren't as powerful. Our EB630 needs to be filled up more than once a day, whereas the RedMax gets filled up at the beginning of the day and still has fuel in it at the end of the day.

I'm not sure if you're serious or not...but no.
For the cost of the blower you could easily have a much more suitable, four stroke motor with 2x as much power.

Wow, at idle when started, it sounded like a bunch of metal measuring cups being banged together with forks and spoons.
I'm glad my Husqvarna isn't nearly this loud. You can carry on a normal volume conversation at idle.

It's not rattling it's just how the motor sounds when it's new. It's a large displacement 2stroke motor...in person it sounds like a minibike idling.
